I have a standard lexus bottom slot cd unit and it has started to give me errors anh
I was wondering if I can replace it with the better top cd slot unit, are the compaterble
or not. Does the wiring need to be changed?

Yes, It has the same plugs on the back..

I looked into doing this and found that the Old headunit has a different plug than the new style one
the new style has wider pins at the ends of the plug and the old one all the pins are the same width
so in my case I wouldnt just plug in

Dark IS had a similar prob with the plugs when fitting an aftermarket HU and as brettster says they are different plugs on the back of the HU.

I did one not so long ago and didn't have any problems...
Maybe some of them are different !!!!
