I have a 2004 IS200 Limited Edition with standard 215/45/17 tyres, can i change these to 225/45/17 or even 225/40/17 ,as i can get a really good deal on the other 2 sizes, cheers.

i have2 new 215/40/17 on the front and needed two rears (below limt marker and very slippery on corners) and got two yokohamas for free but were 205/40/17 and are fine but the speedo is a little out but the grip is fantastic

would always put the narrower tyres on front with wider on rear ,typical 911 / bmw performance set up
other way round not right

the tread pattern is aggressive and would not be good for steering hence on the rear

I run 255/40/17s rear, 235/45/17s fronts all on 8j rims. I do have 2 new 235/45/17s in the garage so will put these on the rears when the existing ones are worn out.
