Hiya peeps,

A couple of you got the Blue Reverse Bulbs from George on Sunday at JAE, hope your all happy with them, I find them a lot brighter in mine, although they don't quite look the same as in a Blue Lex, did anyone get a photo of these which we coul post ?

Spoke to George this morning to see if I could put his mobby on the web and he's said he'll keep these bulbs discounted to £10 a pair for LOC members....

If you want a set drop me a PM and I'll put you on the list, I'll give George a call once a week if there is enough interest and arrange the postage of the bulbs to whoever wants them smile.gif

Not sure how to sort payments P&P out yet but am sure some bright spark on here will have a good idea biggrin.gif

I'll take some piccies tonight and post them for everyone to see what you're talking about. smile.gif

These are definitely brighter at night, with a hint of blue in them. The only criticism I have at the moment with these bulbs is that they aren't very bright during the day. online2long.gif

Don't know about you guys, but I would want any driver behind me to know when I'm reversing during daylight. I'm off out to the car park now to have another look. Will report back later cool.gif

I got a set too.. i totally agree with Ifraz's comments......... but they do look the part.... a little pricy i thought. Spoke to George about getting the HID look full beam bulb... so i keep you posted when i get them and compare them to my existing Phillips blue.
ifraz
Here are the photo's I took about 15 mins ago... they actually seem pretty bright now in the day. cool.gif

The original white bulb with the Blue one

This is what the Blue bulb look like in the day when not on

I couldn't understand what you guys were on about when you said they looked dimmer than standard in daylight wacko.gif I put one in and compared it to standard and it was loads brighter. They have a bit too much of a blue tint in them for comfort though, so I expect to be pulled by the local constabulary before too long unsure.gif

No doubt someone will now spend the next 2 hours replying with the legal and moral implications of having slightly blue tinted lamps on your car shutup.gif shutup.gif shutup.gif
rhaines
In the dark no blue tint at all smile.gif

I thought some of you might like them, I didn't realise 9 of you would buy them on the day lol....

It's going to be standard equipment soon...
Matthew_McNally
Ifraz,

you got any photos taken in the dark mate?

I am mistaken...you're right Andy, they are loads brighter, even in the day. When I first looked at them on in JAE the sun was shinning down hard which made it difficult to see.

OK, done some research. I have established the the colour of the reverse light/bulb must be white according to the Statutory Instrument 1989 No. 1796 (The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989).

Full details can be found here for Reverse Lights
Matthew_McNally
does that mean the colour of the bulb, or of the light produced?

from Ifraz's pictures, I would not say that these bulbs do not produce a white light.

ok - there is a blueish cast to them - but then there is a yellowish cast to the standard lights.

I would imagine you would only have to worry if they were red,or green or something - these must be ok

I agree - I have these bulbs, and although the light is tinted blue, it is very slight. I am not concerned about these at all - how often would a cop see you reversing anyway....?

Now while i have comitted a few driving offences in the past,<cough> im sure there is something
illegal about having BLUE lights either at the front/rear of the car unless of course you
use it as an emergency vehicle.so i will wait for all of you to post(soon) that you have been pulled
and given a warning or told to replace them,so make sure you carry the originals in the boot
(saves on paperwork)just in case. whistling.gif whistling.gif

you can have any type of light or colour any where on the car
as long as you dont turn them on ,so unless you do a lot of reverse driving i dont think they will be any trouble

I'm probably being a spaz here but how do you get the lining out of the way?

Do those plastic bits just pull out so you can lift the carpet lining or is there something really easy that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance guys
Fidgits
Hi Mate.

You shouldnt have to remove any lining.

Look on the side of the light, where the boot closes, there are two round covers, there are screws there, and voila!

D'oh!!!

Thanks for that Ian, I feel a right muppet now - I always seem to try to do things the hard way!!!!

Will get them fitted tomorrow hopefully - I managed the right hand side main bulbs which about broke me so I should be able to do these - do the old ones just pull out then I assume - how do you put these in if you're not allowed to touch the glass - or was that just the front lights you can't touch???

TIA!

Thanks fella's - I'm getting there slowly but surely - I was expecting to attack the lights from the back end but from what you've both said I guess the front just comes off and jobs a good un smile.gif

I'm well chuffed with the X-Whites, loads better than the stock stuff I had already, thanks again biggrin.gif

It's gonna be my first mod (had car for 6 weeks now), but something tells me this is gonna become addictive, and i'm sure it wont be the last! msn-wink.gif
