Hi,
Next on my list of low cost, easy changes that even I can manage is clear rear fog lights - so my friends to the questions:
1. What do you think of them?(i like them - my car is silver btw)
2. Where can I get them? (i know superchargedIS200 used to have some).
Oh, and muchos grazias to superchargedmorph
- the Philips BlueVision replacement bulbs (low beam and sidelights) are excellent - far better than the stock bulbs and far better than I expected!
£25 from www.powerbulbs.com if anyone else is interested.
cheers,
rob

I think if I made any styling change then I'd do the same - I've a platinum silver one too and I think the clear lights would enhance the overall silver/clear styling of the car.

hi guys,
i,ve got the clear fogs in on mine ( also silver) i think i have a pic somewhere so when i find it ill post it on the gallery. it took a while for me to get used to it but i think it look nice now.
The only prob is that when they are on u get a slight pink light instead of the red but there are loads of posts on 300.net about fixing that.
Cheers
robbie.

i've seen them on a white car (in the gallery), but it'd be good to see 'em on a silver one before getting them.
not really worried about the pink problem as i've never turned them on!
if you don't mind me asking, where did you get yours from?
thanks,
rob

Hi Folks,
I have just recieved my set of clear rear lights and have put them in last night. As you mentioned earlier, there is a pink light rather than red. I have tried to have a look at IS300.net to find some tips but to no avail. Can anyone help?
Thanks

hi Zee007, welcome to the club. Where did you get your clear rear lights from and how much did you pay.

I ordered them from a company in the states. A friend of mine was out there, got them delivered to him and brought them back for me. They were 60 dollars - a little steep I guess for two lights but for me they finish the back end off nicely...
ok, what you need to do to get rid of that pink light is get a set of red LED bulbs. There are many companies that do them but i have a set from APC, on the 300 in the US it brings on the bulb warning light so people get them then sell them on after the warning starts to bug them so u can find them cheap:D, i got my set for $20 a set wil normally cost $40
to get a proper light output ie bright, from them, you will need to heat the plastic casing a bit and bend the bulb 90 degrees ony takes 5 mins, this is because of the way an LED works and also the way the bulb is positioned inside the reflector.

Hi
Bought two sets one for my old silver 200 and they looked the bizz. The other set for my new Black IS300 do not look the bizz so they are sitting here in the box so if some one wants em drop me an email. £50 inc post
If you have a dark car they do not look that good so dont make my mistake.

I'm interested in the comments about replacement bulbs. Are the Philips BlueVision the best one's to get? Do they offer much improvement, which bulbs does the IS200 take (I haven't got my hand book with me)? Thanks.
you can get the clear rear fogs on Ebay for $40 or even cheaper, a lot will ship to the UK via UPS.

if you're talking about bluevision headlights, check this thread
http://www.teamlexus.co.uk/forums/viewthread.php?tid=252
scroll down towards the end and i've put up before and after pictures of my IS200 with bluevisions - i think they're great for the money
its 9006 (HB4) for low beam, 9005 (HB3) for high beam and W5W for sidelights - I have all 3 types & got them from powerbulbs.com (they have a special offer where the sidelights are free!)
if you want to spend more, then superchargedmorph has some even brighter (and bluer?) ones from the USA
hope this helps,
rob

Thanks Rob, I'm going to order some. I've always been happy with the full/high beam which seem very bright but I find the normal lights quite poor. I leave mine on auto all the time so I've never used the side lights!

Hi Ricky,
I noticed yo have been having discussions about the bluevision bulbs on another thread and yes they are excellent. I have the sidelights too and find they look great. I do a lot of miles especially coming home at night and leaving at dawn. Good investment as they don't blow as easy as the "Ring" alternatives.
Fluff,
Thanks for the suggestion. Much appreciated. I ended buying some bulb paint for £5 fcrom a local car specialist. I painted the bulbs and heated them in the oven three times and they are finally red! Shouldn't fade much as I will hardly use them. Nice tjought of yours thogh. Appreciate it.

Thanks Zee, I ordered some earlier today! Did you also get the full beam? I just ordered the normal and side lights, if they look good I'll also get some for the full beam.
Zee007
Apr 8 2002, 03:27 AM
No - didn't go for full beam - I think the ones we have are good enough!!! Don't use them enough to justify it really. Enjoy them!

Oops, I ordered H4, and not the HB4/9006 so they don't fit. Oh well, I'll have to wait another couple of days to try them out!

Oh well! They are worth the wait - trust me. Let me know how you get on and what you think.

Finally got round to trying the bulbs. I fitted them last week but I've been away and haven't driven at night! Anyway I'm really impressed with the bulbs, they give a much whiter light which certainly seems brighter. I may even go for the full beam.

Hey if you wanna get clear fog lights, here's the link that no one else posted. They are available for both the GS and the IS. Good Luck!

I have a full set of blue vision bulbs, they are fantastic
Main beam is like daylight plus on country roads when I had standard bulbs I was always using my foglamps as extra light but with the blue vision foglamps are not needed:smug:

At the weekend I tried ordering some clear rear fog lights from www.procarparts.com. They emailed me back and said they don't accept non-us credit cards and that I'd have to send an international money order. Also, although their web-site gives you the postage after entering the country, they said they'd have to charge me even more to ship to the UK in their email. The lights are $29.99 but then for the UK they add about $46 postage etc (inc a $15 "documentation" charge). As a last resort I'll get the lights from there but surely there must be somewhere cheaper?!
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/lexusparts/ind.html only ship to US and Canada.
I've tried Ebay but the only ones I could find also just shipped to the US and Canada!
Has anyone found anywhere else? They are made in Taiwan. Is there somewhere in Taiwan or Japan that sells them? It should be a lot cheaper to get them direct instead of via the US.

Success!
Although all the ebay items had "ship to us/canada only" I asked one seller and he was willing to post to the UK. Seller bonbonshaker (aka www.matrixracing.com) auctions one pair of clear fog lights each day. If you buy them direct they are $42.50. On the auction they start at $9.99. I got mine for $34 although if I'd picked a quieter day I guess I might have got them for less. I suppose I got a bit carried away!

At least the shipping is a lot less than procarparts.com ($20 airmail plus $6 insurance and handling). So $60 total, ie about £37 compared to £47 from procarparts.com. I should get them in about a week
