'Check Engine' light came on and stayed on 2 wks ago. If engine is turned off and back on w/in 15 minutes, the 'Check Engine' lights up and 'O/D Off' contininuously flashes. I took it to a local repair shop, who checked it and indicated that it may be a transmission problem. They tested drove the car and no problem with the shiftings or transmission. The local repair shop reset the light. Two days later the same lights come back on.
I just took my car for a smog check. The computer from the smog check place indicated the manufacture code of P1705 for the check engine light. Anyone know what this code # means?

I called the Lexus dealer, and the Rep told me that the code is for either O2 sensor or Mass Airflow Sensor.

p 1705 is transmission range cuircit not indicating park or neutral
it is not an egr o2 or maf sensor problem
just a tranny one

Thank you for the info. It looks like the Lexus dealer gave me the wrong info. So that code is a transmission sensor error? No wonder that i changed the O2 sensor & the light is still on.

it doesn't sounds like it
it might be a wire
loose
but it is hard to say exactly the problem as i am not even sure what it is trying to say with the above fault
it just might be the tranny selector is not engaging all teh way all teh time
a condition that can be caused by the engine mounts also
but it still affects teh tranny
do the ligths on the dash show the proper selection of gears all teh time?

Yes, the light on the dash shows the proper selection of the gear all the time, and the transmission shifts fine.

i wouldn't really worry about it then
and go back to the dealer and ask for why they mislead you to make you buy the wrong parts
maybe you can get tehm to look into the problem you aer having for free
