Okay Peeps!
show your interest by simply putting the date of your choice and let us know if you will be okay to stay late and get a ferry back at 11:45pm. You can of course always get an earlier ferry and still come.
THE PLAN:
We will cross early morning and have group breakfast on the boat.
Cruise Down to a cool location ( Possibly Epernay (1.5hrs steady 80mph).
Do some plonk and fag shopping and maybe touring?
Have a late Lunch (which must involve Mussels I'll tell you that now!)
either cruise back to the coast or somewhere cool to spend the evening chilling and then catch a late ferry back.
PLenty of shopping and chilling opportunites. and parking up and looking cool.
Family day out.
Come one, come all!!
Ps. my preference is 4th Oct and I'm up for a late one. might bring the boy too! (Loz Jnr)

Dover.
But if it not convenient for all we could arrange to meet you over the other side. then main thing is that we all do actually meet. as the Bard sang, "...get here if you can..."

Sorry Loz Can't do either date
For interest I'm doing a quick trip myself - en famile as usual - 22.15 ferry out of Portsmouth to Le Harve on a Friday night (19/9) and return from Le Harve 22.00 on Saturday night with 4 berth cabin both ways for £105.
I'm also almost out of Champagne and will definitely need a trip soon.

Okay the 4th October it is!Get yer berrys out and yer fro's ! we are gonna have a funky good time!! YEAH!
So now we need to organise meeting points!
There is a BP garage on the road through DOver that goes to the port. Suggest we meet there but lets agree a time. If we are breakfasting on the boat then I reckon an 8am crossing would be okay? anyone want to go earlier? NO. Good!
So I'll have a look for ferry costs on that date and get back to you unless someone can beat me too it??

I'm in for the 4th October
The BP sounds like a good meeting point.
Lets get times FULLY COMFIRMED so members can SELF book their tickets LOZ.
That way they can also arrange their own RETURN times.
8.00AM sounds fine for me. But I was thinking about those people who live further away. To why I suggested 10 am.
THE SUN this week is offering trips from £1 again. Might be worth checking out also.

does any one know calais ?
we need to establish a meeting point over there
so that people can come at various times
and a suggested time
say 12.00 so it gives people a chance to do what they want for a few hours
for the cruise and local hostilery we need suggestions on where to go
hopefully our cousins from over the water can help us out
and
dont forget your passports

I think we should deffo all go for the same ferry outwards. will be most excellent. the return journey is up to how long people want to stay. but in my experience if you want an earler ship back you can get on if there is space. I'm looking forward to a great Day trip. I'm bookng m crossing today!

If we aim to meet at the BP Garage at 7:30 getting the 8:30am crossing makes sense, no?
Unless all those who are going prefer the 7:45am crossing
I will confirm 8:30am crossing

Same ferry as Loz, 8:30 out, 23:00 return.

I have allways found that they dont keep to the times
if you turn up early or late they will generally put you on the next one
ricky_is200
Aug 28 2003, 11:16 PM
As I mentioned above for some reason the 8:30 isn't listed on the initial booking page. Select 8:15 and it will then tell you this isn't available and give you other options including the 8:30.
Hopefully this will work for you!

Hope Matt and I can make it - just sold the house, but haven't found another yet
Sod's Law says completion will take place around that weekend
But - we'd have a super housewarming party with all the alcohol we'd bring back

If we can go - will anyone else be driving down the day before and staying over - we could maybe have a "gentle" night out....

Aug 29 2003, 06:16 PM
Bazza, I'm booked on the same out bound but the 8:30pm return Pride of Aquitain both ways.
I did it by phone today and had no probs getting on the 8:30. ID did confirm though that they tickets are flexible so we can turn up for any ferry and if they have space they will let us on. 7:30am meet still stands. if more people struggle for the 8:30 ( think its actually 8:15??) we could take a view on all catching the next one (8:45) so no need to get split up. Cool?
MSW,
hope you and Mat can make it!! would be nice to convoy 300miles!!!!

we still need a meet point the other end to meet those not coming on the ferry
the light house looks like a good point , at least we should be able to find it
only thing is i cant find where it is to look it up on a map
mat and linda
are you looking at booking a hotel in dover area ?
maybe loz would be interested in it as well
you never know i might even join you
Loz
Aug 29 2003, 06:56 PM
hmmmm... hotel you say? what happend to you penchant for camping??
I'll either drive through the night, doss down in the car or blag a cheapy hotel I guess... Good thinking. but If We leave the dirty north anytime after 4pm then its gonna be midnight by the time we get to the hotel? hence driving down through the night... JM had this problem when we went before. got stuck in traffic as I recall.... ANyway, open to suggestion.
meet the otherside could do with some juducious swapping of mobile numbers.
Mine is 07799 834613
If anyone who is going can text me with a name or send me their SMS business card then I will beable to liase with you on meeting points and also if we get lost in convoy then its easier to keep track.
Cool. Or should I say, Bon?
