I have a 1996 GS300 and the engine oil needs changing for the first time. Is 10W40 engine oil ok to use, if not what should I be using?

Dealer uses BP Visco 7000 in mine but couldent tell you the viscosity although the manual states 15w-40 or 20w-50.

I use a 5/40w synthetic that is Halfords own brand. Works out just that bit cheaper than Mobil 1.
