Hello & what a great forum, just had to post and this is my first one and first in a car forum of any kind

Well now that that is off my chest, just to say, joined the board the other night & have been browsing/lurking for the past week & what a service and a help it has been

Just bought today a 96N GS300 Sport, original mint 18" Alloys, unmarked and shes Blue with Grey Leather, 51K miles with full Lexus history. Just had cambelt done in Oct 03 & also new discs & pads, plus new radiator & a refil/recharge of the a/c. Bought off a non Lexus dealer in Scotland and thought I got a reasonable bargin at 7500 pounds.

First question is, is that a good deal?

Second one is that the seal on the rear light cluster that is in the boot lid, has gone & is letting a bit of water in, being Scotland we do get a lot of water

Took my new baby straight to Lexus Edinburgh & they were impressed by the price and condition, so I suppose thats something. Asked re the lights & was quoted 160 pounds inc VAT for a new replacement light cluster and 20 mins to fit, total under 200 pounds

Is this a good price, or is there another way to fix this? It is letting some water retain on the inside of the lights and drip into the actual boot, which in this weather isn't great.

Can it be repaired, without botching it, or are there any at breakers, or better to bite the billet & keep my girl right, pay for the part & enjoy having a great car now.

Sorry to go on, but not knowing, just seeking advice, hope someone can help, all advice greatfully appreciated

Cheers Andy Bourke andrew.bourke@blueyonder.co.uk

Hi and welcome to the club. biggrin.gif

It sounds like you got a great deal on the car.. have you got any pictures you can post for us to drool over?

As for the light, I'm not sure of the pricing, but perhaps you should consider our GOLD scheme, this gives discounts at most Lexus dealers, and would probably save you around 10% off any work you have done. (this includes servicing, parts etc..)

Hi,

I a newbie here too with a very similar car.

GS300 Sport N plate 49000 A1 condition £6900 ( bought as seen though from an estate clearance) and needing new tyres so I think your price is about spot on for a decent car.

Best of luck with yours I actually preferred the blue colour but there were none around down here . Almost all of them appear to be silver !

Had the same AC re charge done but not the belt & plugs service yet ( can't wait !?^&*)

For anyone else looking has anyone heard or had a blowing from the exhaust problem?

I have a blow that's getting louder by the trip and after diving underneath appears to be coming from just after the Y split on RHS, the specialist I use ( very good actually) says he's had to weld a few here on the flange side so it must be a trap area I suppose.

The garage said not worth replacing as this is a small hole with a bit of plate put over will be fine.

Hi Guys

Welcome to the best Lexus forum outside the USA.
Andy, check out Ebay for those rear lights. I came accross a set when I was looking for a replacement headlight.
They are easy to fit and only require the removal of six oreight nuts oh and the wiring harness connector.
It is worth learning how to do the job as you have to remove the light clusters to replace the rear light cluster bulbs!

Just changed my series 1, which had 177,000 miles on, for a series 2. Mine let water in around the same place, nothing a bit of silicon sealer wont solve,

oh, and welcome to the site.
