In the General Maintenance section, there is a thread which gives a procedure to re-program the remotes used for an IS 200 (see
this thread).
Does anyone know how to do this on a GS?

Do you have a separate remote on the series I or is it built into the key?

Mine looks exactly the same as mudzs's. And it's more than remote locking as the alarm most definitely goes off if I try to open the boot before de-activating the alarm via the remote

I'm not sure if you can program a new remote. A dealer may be able to order a new remote which will work as they may have records based on your chassis number. Otherwise a new receiver unit and remotes will be required which will be expensive although fitting shouldn't be too expensive and all the wiring is already in place.
It may be worth you speaking with your local dealer or Chris Shipley to find out your options.

I think the old system (with lock built into the key) is not CAT1 compliant (if it has an alarm and not just remote locking?).
From Dec. 95 the GS alarm was CAT 1. Probably installed once the vehicle comes into the UK
