  1. Ok guys I have decided to sell the tom's exhaust, so if anyone is interested, then please contact me :)
  2. Hi all, I was always wondering if the is250 projector lenses have been changed in the last few years and i finally think to have an answer. A friend of mine with a 2006 is250 had an accident a few months ago, so he just replaced 1 of the units. This one seems to have the Clear lens type instead of the ribbed/foggy/misty lens type, which is used in the 2006. In the past, I have installed aftermarket HID on a 2007 is250 and find the cutoff and output of the light better than my 2006 with hid's. So the conclusion might be that all 2006 got the foggy style projectorlenses and the 2007+ got the more clear lens type. The difference should be like this:
  3. ahmed: If you know someone who is looking for the Exhaust (including your lip) than let me know :) Fjcfarrar: Yeah I know it can be done on several ways, but the cost might be higher than selling the exhaust lol And fitting steel wheels 16inch will look bad on the IS250 :P And the reduced handling is not what i am looking for :( Putting in a silencer (like hks) would be great, but i cant find the right silencer to fit
  4. Tango: yeah, the Tanabe should be pretty quiet with 93db, but the tom's is a bit more quiet with 86db. Well i don't think it is designed for the manual, but due to the low rpm of the automatic transmission, which is also the drone rpm, it would fit the manual gearbox better as the rpm is a little bit higher. Therefore the rpm will increase faster on the manual as well, while the automatic is using a 'constant' rpm when you hit the gas by a little. This 'constant' rpm will drone and be a little bit annoying. thesmileone: Yeah i have heard of that as well. ahmed 24: No i dont have the rear lip, but the exhaust fits great on the oem bumper and the car still looks oem. fjcfarrar: I have used a device in order to gauge the amount of db. The sound is coming from the tail pipe, as the exhaust is just hanging on the rubber mountings and is fully free except the 2 bolts. As a comparison, with the stock exhaust, my car is quieter than a GS and close to a LS :). this might be the reason why i hear a lot more than others. ps I might be selling the tom's exhaust (used for 2 weeks), so if someone is interested, please let me know!
  5. sound deadening can be done on the is250. I have done this by different kinds of materials for sound deadening/insulation. I have reduced the interior noise by an average of 6db. every 3db reduction is comparable to half of the sound. So the noise level has been reduced 4 times of the stock is250.
  6. Well you could go with other brands of tire. Toyo and Dunlops are quite soft. (yokohama, bridgestones are hard) Michelin pilot primacy could also be a solution, but this one is a little bit more expensive. There is a noticable difference in comfort (noise/shock absorbing) in only changing the tires.
  7. Yeah, you are right, it suppose to be designed for the Manual I think... How many persons here do have the Tom's Exhaust? The noise is just a little bit too much for my, but it seems to be one of the quietest one. Might be me who is finding it noisy.
  8. Hi, I just got the Tom's Exhaust barrel: It should be be a very quiet exhaust, but it seems like it does drone from 1500-2500rpm. I have got the Auto IS250 and the gearbox just want the engine running in the 1500-2500 range under normal driving, so this result into even more drone while applying the gas by a little bit. So i am now driving in S mode (select gear by myself) so the drone is less. By I drive a lot, so if I cannot get rid of the drone I will put by the stock one back. Does someone know if I did something wrong? Should it be so noticeable? how can I reduce the noise? My car already has extra insulation like Dynamat stuff everywhere. Stock exhaust will result into 59/60 Decibel @ 60mph and 63db @ 80mph. Stock is250 produces 65/66 db @ 60mph and 68db @ 80mph. So my car is already very quiet compared to a stock is250. Thanks Alan
  9. Alantje, can you give us a bit more info on the brake symtoms you were having?. My car has been in twice for squeaky brakes when reversing with small application of the footbrake. and has come back both times with squeak intact. Im being told it is weather related but it has been there in all weathers and temperatures since early last year. delexus, My brakes were only making noise at low speeds just the last few meters before stopping. that only appear when the brakes are relative cold. They told that the rear brake callipers were the cause of the squeaky noise and it will be replaced under warranty. and they also told me the front brake pads were almost worn out and need to be replaced as well. So i got new front brake pads, new rear brake callipers but using old brake pads. and i havent notice any squeaky brakes yet.
  10. RApidone: I had the AVS db v550 on my is200 and i can tell you that it didnt reduce road noise much.. let me explain this: The rolling noise of this tyre is lower than average, but the sound you hear in a car is transfered by the panels. and the avs db have hard sidewall which results in more vibration of the panels in your car > more noise inside thecabin. (the rolling noise outside is less) back to topic: i added some sound damping material in my is200 and reduced noise with 6db ( measured by db meter) What did i do: 1. i added this material http://www.noisecontrol.nl/resizer/resize...._achterkant.JPG on almost every reachable body panel on the is200 like: hood, doors, trunk, spare wheel well, rear wheel well, rearseat(gastank), the whole floor. only covering 80% of the body panel is enough. ITs heavy **** i have added +/- 60 kg of material. This material stops the vibration alot for road noise ( for low freq noise) 2. i added this material http://www.caraudio-versand.de/shopimg/112067.jpg above the other one this material is very light and also used in carpet of different kind of cars. (for higher freq noise) With both material the sound volume reached (75mph @63/64 db) as silent as a mercedes E class. The other noise was coming from the wind. This type of insulation still need to done on my is250, but i am too lazy :) hahahaha might do this when its less cold outside :D I would suggest to do the floor, there is where the most road noise is coming from. I think you could reach at least 3 db with only doing the floor. And every 3db is doubleing of the sound by a human ear. Alan
  11. I am just back of replacing the power steering of the is250 (2006), its feels stiffer like the 2008 model which i got as a loaner. and i also replaced the whole rear brake calliper under warranty for some sqeeky noise by low speed braking.
  12. the oem dunlop sp sport maxx on the is250 are different from those aftermarket dunlop sp sport maxx. the compound of the aftermarket sp sportmaxx is softer > less road noise > possible higher wear of tires.
  13. Did you miss the first page and top of this thread or something? :iraqi-info-minister: sorry my internet was being weird :) i just saw the pictures etc :)
  14. i like your headunits :) did u paint it black ? or where did u get those :)
  15. Sound clips are recorded mate ;) I just have to upload them when I get home from work today. Will the HKS Silent muffler fit an IS300, does anyone know? I'm currently looking at buying one from the states as I have a few relatives over there. hi there, Thanks :) i will wait for your soundclips~~ The is300 exhaust would fit the is200, but on the is200 the pipe would be longer sticking out of the bumper. while is200 exhaust on the is300 will burn the bumper, as the exhaust would be too short and stick inside the bumper. Alan The best way to do is to switch the rear bumper as well
