  1. Hi, My drivers side door mirror (Glass) is discolouring fast. I would like to take it out. Anybody have a assembly diagram. Also any recommendations on repair or replacement. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks for the info. Worth checking out the Aldi offer. A friend also told me recently Aldi are good for Satellite dishes and receivers. So I plan to go on the 19th Jan. Worth also getting the battery fully checked.
  3. Good News but hopefully no bad to follow that could cost some heavy cash. I tried to start a few more times and it started. The cranking was weak. Gave it a 10 mile run. The electrics and dash lights were all fine as before. It felt as if the power would not transfer to the starter motor fully. Possibly a weak battery but it was far from dead or flat. Its either the cold weather the night before starting and shuting causing the power loss or some other non battery related fault. Hope NOT. Might want to get the battery changed anyway. So any ideas as to what to watch out for in future.
  4. I use to carry a AA card for years but never needed it much and so stoped using it. Although not AA Home start so wont have helped anyway. May just get the battery changed. Hope its not the starter motor or any other problem. Started the car yesterday and moved it few yards and moved it back. Due to some house work. It was a freezing morning. So most likely the battery has lost its power. It has to happen some time. So it did overnight.
  5. I have a weak battery today. Engine won’t start. Internal electronics seem fine. Has anybody tried the cigarette lighter recharger from Argos. There is no need to lift the bonnet. Connects to the cigarette lighter via lead to the jump start car. The other alternative is a jump starter power pack. Any recommendations.
  6. Hello Colin. Sometime ago I posted a similar note. The rubber seals had become hard and brittle last winter and now bits are starting to break off. Its not so much cosmetic as was the case last year even so it looks bad but I dread any leaks into the sunroof although it will remain firmly closed this winter. Not having a garage I am not comfortable of trying it myself unless its easy and quick.
  7. The external weatherstrip can be purchased for £23+vat. Lexus charge £95 p/h. The Glass panel takes half an hour to remove and refit the new weatherstrip takes full 1 hour. Can people recommend an alternative. I really cant afford the labor costs at present & has anyone done this already. Thanks.
  8. Ignition Switch The ignition switch allows the driver to distribute electrical current to where it is needed. There are generally 5 key switch positions that are used: Lock- All circuits are open ( no current supplied) and the steering wheel is in the lock position. In some cars, the transmission lever cannot be moved in this position. If the steering wheel is applying pressure to the locking mechanism, the key might be hard to turn. If you do experience this type of condition, try moving the steering wheel to remove the pressure as you turn the key. Off- All circuits are open, but the steering wheel can be turned and the key cannot be extracted. Run- All circuits, except the starter circuit, are closed (current is allowed to pass through). Current is supplied to all but the starter circuit. Start- Power is supplied to the ignition circuit and the starter motor only. That is why the radio stops playing in the start position. This position of the ignition switch is spring loaded so that the starter is not engaged while the engine is running. This position is used momentarily, just to activate the starter. Accessory- Power is supplied to all but the ignition and starter circuit. This allows you to play the radio, work the power windows, etc. while the engine is not running.
  9. Probably the same as leaving the windscreen wipers mid-screen by switching off the car. However, the effect with audio equipment especially CD players is not recommended since the surge in electric power before its distributed and made available to the whole car can boost up to a blown fuse or other electronic circuit failure.
  10. I find T-cut works very finely. I have scratches on my front bumpber. I used T-cut but worked only slightly. If the scratches and scrapes are more prominent than you probably need to spend hours and use your skills as an expert and have the correct know how and experience. In the end I also used some touch-up paint with the T-cut but again works only a little. The black primer has to be a paint job.
  11. Is there a drain tap to replace the old coolant on the Mk2 ?
  12. Why is jump start not recommended? What would be the most sensible alternative given battery discharges?
  13. The light is there on the GS300 II. So difficult to believe that Mk III model may not have it. If switched off its a case of bending down inside the boot to find it. I reckon its there and lights up as the boot flips open.
  14. Useful Info http://bioengr.ag.utk.edu/Extension/ExtPro...les/engcool.htm
  15. Yes ok thanks. Any part of the frame or engine block is recommended. Want to be prepared for winter. Dont see any point in getting a new battery as the one fitted is working fine for now. I would like to exercise my IIABDFI. (If It Aint Broke Dont Fix It) But doubts remain if car is not driven for 2 weeks in the coming winter conditions.
