  1. Ok ive been to a bodyshop today, he thinks the best thing to do is get a bumper from a scrap yard for about 60GBP then just get the TRD front lip, rear lip and sideskirts, then just spray and fit everything. Now i have a goal in mind, although i dont think i will do it through them as they wanted 950GBP if they provide the kit (thats including some nasty scratchs though) The plan is: A) get cheap rear bumper from ebay B) find the cheapest place that does the TRD lips + skirts ( any suggestions?) C) take the stuff around a few bodyshops and see how much they will charge to spray and fit everything. Cheers. Dave.
  2. My rear bumper has finally fallen off, the front bumper is badly scratched and one of the headlight washer covers is missing, so the logical thing to do is buy a bodykit, i want to spend as little as possible. Ive seen this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...bayphotohosting and am awaiting a reponse from the seller on what material manufacturer it is etc and have been on sites like www.madmotors.co.uk Anyone suggest anywhere else? the JDL kit looks ok, but im a bit of a penny pincher, which ive found dosnt go well with owning a lexus is200? Cheers Dave.
  3. Dave Did you manage to get this resolved? autoglass have just replaced my screen and I have those rattles and squeeks now I DONT DO RATTLES It seems to not be creaking anymore?? i did only have this done two weeks ago, so maybe now its "bedded in"? if yours is still making noises i would take it back as they will have recieved 550GBP from your insurance company for the work! I also found out my front windscreen heats up my wipers, WOW :)
  4. Hehe. Thanks for all the advice, particually about the VSR that Lexus do, i will do that first and post what is said, then take it to the next stage, i have replaced the wheel with the flat tyre now for the spare (wow what a difference in handling) and next take it for a long overdue service. BTW dont worry i havnt taken offence to anything said lol, ive done wrong and now will punish myself and bank balance to make up for the abuse ive given the car. I will take some pics if/when it ever stops raining. ps, i live near city centre sufc territory lol. Bye for now. Dave.
  5. I also find it normal to let off a particually disgusting fart in the car with passenger(s), turn on the electric seats, lock the windows, put the heater on but only in the LOW position so the smell is not quickly dispersed then the passengers can then feel its full force with the added heat. I did once have an occasion where a passenger tried to open the sunroof so i would be interested if anyone has anymore tips on "jamming" this.
  6. I get approx 200 miles from a full tank which is terrible, however its not got the full lexus service history it once did. I do not to work out the fuel anymore, as i decided it would be more entertaining to pitch fork large sums of cash into a giant hole then set it on fire using some of the precious 1GBP per litre liquid.
  7. I had to click the Squeaks and rattles box, as after RAC autoglass replaced my windscreen, it squeaks.
  8. Hi, i bought a black IS200 sport approx 2 years ago, which had full Lexus service history, was in showroom condition and had about 85k on the clock (now 105k), it was my pride and joy for 6 months but then i just saw it as a working vehicle like all the others, i still love the car but i feel like ive abused it, friends are saying things like "ive never felt sorry for a car before", im now at the stage where i want to revive the car to some sort of decent condition and working order to try and make up for 2 years off abuse, i want to do this as cheaply as possible. The main area of neglect is the fact it has not been serviced since 30/11/05 79k, i was forced to get the oil changed as while driving it felt like the engine was resisting me and the engine was LOUD, the guy said after flushing it was very black still (will this have caused damage and is it now worth doing anything else now oil is changed?) if so whats a good price for all filters etc, as even non lexus garages seem expensive. The second point is wheels, i have severely kerbed the wheels, i want to refurb/ exchange the wheels Lexus to an exhange system which comes to about 430 GBP fitted. The wheel guy from blackpool on ebay will do them for 240GBP fitted but without the machine finish id get from lexus?? is it worth another 200 for that? has anyone used this guy as i noticed another post on here saying to avoid him? One of my tyres is flat to 5psi?? this effects handling and performance, i dont want to put a tyre on one of his refurbs to have same problem if it is buckled etc. The third is bodywork there is a few scatchs one on the front wing going to metal, and one going to undercoat, my rear bumper is hanging off on one side after a minor knock, this will clip back on but the corner is down to the fiberglass and the "shell" is not there, does anyone know if those SMART car repair guys who come to your house are capable of repairing that? as they seem to advertise just to get rid of scuffs / chips etc. The other thing is i have the engine cooling fans permenently hard wired in, so they are always on as a sensor stopped working, will this be ok to leave? Overall in your expert opinions based on the above information how much am i looking to pay to get sorted as i paid 6500 for it and looking at autotrader etc i can see examples in a lot better condition than mine with history etc going for about 4k, so another question is it worth it? Cheers David. :)
  9. ??? surely having the heated seats on and the heating dosnt increase fuel consumption??
  10. Ive got my uncle to "hard wire" the fans so they come on as soon as i turn the ignition and thats cured the problem so it looks like the sensor, might get it fixed at some point in the future as i dont like the idea of the fans been on all the time.
  11. The only thing that made me think it was not the fan is the fact it never over heats driving even up to 150 miles at 90 mph and then hit traffic and it wont overheat when i slow down for traffic, its just everytime ive taken it for a "long" journey ie. across into europe or right up to scotland when i am doing hours of driving at a time; and then hit traffic, it rapidly overheats, thats whats confusing? i recently drove to liverpool airport and got stuck in traffic after 1.5 hours driving and there was no problem, but 3,4,5,6 hours and then standstill or slow moving - the needle goes to the maximum and its as if you can hear the water boiling in the pipes? scary :)
  12. My avg is 300miles to get it down to the warning light from a full tank, i did a little experiment with a petrol can in the back and got 55 miles exactly from when the warning light came on untill it ran completly out of fuel. so remember guys your safe for 50 miles on the warning light, However thrashing flooring it everywhere ive had as little as 200miles from a full tank!!!! which can be upsetting, i think the best practical fuel economy is on the motoway under 80mph so its not quite at the 4000 rev mark.
  13. Hi, ive had my black 99 IS200 sport for about 7 mths now, still love it:) I do have one problem, the car overheats, and i mean it overheats rapidly to a point where steam is coming out of the bonnett and it sounds like a huge kettle ready to explode, not good! However luckily it only does this in certain conditions: Long and sustained motoway driving at 70 - 90 MPH then hitting traffic. Ive had to nail it down the hard shoulder twice to get some air into the engine bay to cool it down, once i had to wait on the hard shoulder for ages untill it cooled down, the latter i believe is the more sensible option and other motorists prefer it :) I have spoken to a few people some say thermostadt, some say electric cooling fans, lexus say it could be some sensors on the radiator that talk to the electronic super computer (an expert visual inspection by lexus costs lots of cash i dont have!) if it is any of the above which is at fault,im betting on the sensors, could these have been damaged / disconnected by installing an aftermarket headunit sub amp etc, because i stupidly allowed some monkeys loose on my car in the hope of having some bass and some volume, buts thats another story. Thank you in advance for any advice or educated opinions. David.
  14. I have the same problem i can hear the CD spinning inside but cant load or eject any disc, mine is a 99 so it wont be covered under warrenty, i have a decent MP3 head unit with an infinity sub/ amp in my old car so this seems like a good time to install it in the lexus, i believe i need a facia adaptor so it looks flush, anyone have any idea how much it would cost lexus, or someone? to fit a headunit, sub&amp and 6x9's. I butchered my last car fitting the system myself and dont want to do the same with this one lol.
  15. Mine is a 99 Sport model and im sure the suspension is the same as the SE but i only compared by eye, i couldnt find on the forum search any prices on how much it would cost to lower the car, does anyone know? Thanks.
