  1. Yep so that’s 6.6 to 60? In all fairness sports mode is needed and ok conditions with proper timing. Given diesel emission figures I think all figures from cars are sus.
  2. I don’t think it’s childish...it’s what manufacturers test and sell on and motoring press et al report on. Given Lexus engineering I doubt there is a power decline. It’s best and safer to have a time keeper with a sat nav for accuracy.
  3. Interesting...you have Mk3 or 4? The 0-60 time is always quoted based on Mk 3 not the quicker Mk4. Any takers on this? By the time the 4 came out it was competing with other V8s like the S type and it is a tiny bit quicker.
  4. Great result🙂 There are a few anti squeal shims and copperslip on all mating surfaces on them is probably more than a good idea.
  5. Well take it straight back if you can. If not it’s probs the cabin sensor. Nothing serious or too expensive. I’d be surprised if it’s the heating rad. In the days I had a 635 Beamer that went cold on a left hand turn or bend...Bosch heater valve spring and sticking ball bearing (!) fixed with £40 quid unit and 15 minutes.
  6. Going from memory opening the bonnet gives you access. Or switching all off via ignition mid sweep?
  7. Nice one, thanks. I don’t mind paying shipping & tax...it’s all part of the calculated considerations. 👍🤔
  8. Ah he is one of the delusionals. Has over valued vision of the metal. He’d rather see it rot than sell for less than his perceived value. Walk away. He should have done the cambelt by now...it’s scrap.
  9. That’s generous...save the owner a lot of bother and they’ll be storage and towage...lot of £s give them £100 and I’m not joking.
  10. I would ask Lexus for a 30% discount and see what happens. Try Lexus Birmingham. First line in my experience are very low quality. They also own the late and very fine Borg and Beck. Not going there then either. I’d either bite the bullet on OE or buy from the US, paying for something like Beck & Arnley which has a warranty. There’s more choice for the money.
  11. Yes but we know some discs and pads squeal as they are of an indifferent quality and this does catch out garages. My Merc garage had to give up with a supplier as the same pads were clearly different from the dealer so they had to revert to the dealer supplier. Bless them they are max to the profit. My non franchise Jag dealer fitted **** filters at the same price I could fit the real thing. That’s why I do as much as poss myself and try OE unless it’s theft.
  12. That’s a good and very direct question. Half the asked amount. Given only the belt needs changing. But it won’t be: you would change the drive belt and pulleys, thermostat, water pump, cambelt pulleys plus labour. You are buying so factor Lexus pricing for OE parts...they should pay you for taking the car.
  13. Few dents and dinks? You should see mine... Get a full MOT on it before buying...check cambelt history and elec and air con. Get price right down.
  14. Linas well said I wrote that and deleted it: the “have they fitted the anti squeal shims”...great minds. I suppose on new non Lex pads they might not fit or be seen to be needed. Good that they will take a look.
  15. Well if you’re not happy or concerned you should pay ten a visit. They might be bedding in although my Lexus setup didn’t make a sound. But my Mintex set up on my Jag was dreadful in all braking but then stopped and are fine now. You could find out what make of parts they fitted. If that’s all they are doing, noisy in reverse, probably ok.
  16. Sounds like a sensor or MAF failure. Only clean the throttle if it’s clearly sticking and dirty, a little dirt is ok. Also use throttle body cleaner as there is a protective surface film easily damaged by abrasive cleaning agents.
  17. I’m with Colin. You mean £7.30 each..? My OE was NGK and I replaced with Denso. I shopped around hard and got an ok price. Bear in mind they last a long time.
  18. Hardest blades are Jag S as the clearance is rubbish and well it’s a simple job that defies logic. I put rubbers onto the LS arms and it was ok. What’s going wrong for you exactly?
  19. Having fitted new front discs, pads and having completed an oil change, and...sorting tyre pressures-I drove to Cardiff via Stroud from Reading. There was no shimmy from the front wheels and I kept up with and in front of the flash driver’s both ways. I still need to sort the lower track bar bushes and probably the lower ball joints. I also have to replace 2 tyres. Most motorists have to pay for extended warranties now because of repair costs. Cars ain’t cheap whatever marque they are. It certainly helps doing some of the work myself but sourcing parts is valuable too.
  20. Yep but you need to sync the key to system again and turn ignition key on go 6 minutes then turn off and you are good to go.
