  1. Well done to you Nimroi. Has anyone done this with the HID bulbs on the '98 and onwards? Lexus want a fortune to do it, I'm wondering whether to source the bulb (ebay) and do it myself.
  2. My car says it -30 outside, all the time. Is this an easy fix? Anyone know where to buy a replacement sensor? Thanks
  3. Hi guys, Searching the site, I have read lots of confusing stuff, so I thought I'd seek clarification. I have a '98 LS400, and one of the low beam lights has failed. Does the 98 use regular HB4 9006 bulbs, or does it have the mega-expensive, supposedly ever-lasting HID ones? I want to order the replacement before dimantling the car (which you need to do to get access). Any tips on removing bulbs also greatly appreciated. Once the battery and air filter are removed, and the plastic covers over the back of the headlight units removed, do the bulbs just pull out? Should I replace the other one at the same time, or should it last for a while? Anything else to be careful of, or any advice? Many thanks, hope I can get this sorted quickly! Rob
  4. Thanks genius, I've followed some advice form somewhere on here, suggesting turning the key to '0n' for 10 seconds before turing to 'start', and this does seem to work, I can hear the pump run. I wonder if, because the car always shuts down when running on gas, the solenoid to turn off the petrol is off. When you turn it on again, you have to give the LPG conversion's 'brain' a chance to open the petrol tap again, and also give the petrol a chance to get back to the engine before firing it up. Just a guess Rob
  5. Anyone elses outside temperature sensor read -30C? I'm sure there's just a wire off the sensor, or a knackered sensor, but where is the sensor, and where can I get a replacement? I quite like to know how hot it is out there, and whether or not its freezing in the winter. Many thanks, Rob
  6. Hi, My 98 LS400 idles at about 600rpm hot or cold. Cold starting is difficult- the engine fires well, then as the revs drop, the engine dies. This happens three or four times in a row, then finally the engine management or whatever catches the engine just before the revs get to zero, and it climbs to a nice 600. Touching the pedal whilst starting solves this, but shouldn't be necessary. This isn't a major problem at the moment but in the winter I'm worried it won't start very well if its aiming for warm idle even when its cold. Only bought the car very recently so don't know how it behaved last winter! Anyone had a simlar problem? Rob
  7. Hi, Can you explain the nature of your starting problem? I have an LPG converted ls400 that has a starting problem, I wonder if its the same thing. After leaving it overnight, I turn the key and it fires well, climbs quickly to maybe 1000 rpm, then drops to zero. It tends to do this 2 or 3 times, and then on the 3rd or 4th attempt in quick succession, it climbs to 1000, drops to nearly zero, but just catches itself and climbs to idle at about 600rpm. Touching the accelerator as I turn the key solves this, but obviously this shouldn't be necessary. I was wondering if 600rpm was a little slow for a cold idle. Do you think my engine is attempting a 'warm' start, even when its cold? Or do you think it has worn valves like yours? It doesn't have flashlube; I better get that fitted. Many thanks, Rob
