  1. You can get a pretty good deals through ebay, i got a complete set of new tyres at the same price to the cheapest online , also got a complete set of alloys for the car for that money !
  2. Looking at codlord's car them comparing to my RS200 i've certainly got a lowered car, guy i bought it from didn't know anything about modifications to it. My car on 18" rims with 35 profile tyres. I've changed to 17" now and that's improved the ride somewhat, but i'm looking to put it ontp standard UK sport suspension. I live in the wilds of Scotland and the rough roads and farm track i live down mean lowered is not good news. So if anyone wants to swap suspension .... Cheers
  3. The JT1 chassis code is for non-japanese market cars, their home market vehicles don't carry the same code. The dealership is looking for a UK code rather than realising that the Altezza is an import !
  4. With the colder weather and the amount of frost on my small country roads up here in Scotland I'm running into some traction problems with my RS200. I'm used to dealing with rear wheel drive in these conditions, I've had a AE86 and a Nissan 200. The real issue is no LSD but i will try and sort that out with one from a UK sport. My real question is about the traction control system. The traction control panel was missing when i got the car, but I'm interested in the connections at the back, as i seem to have a spare blue connector that should connect to something at that level, unless it's from the missing head unit. Does the traction control use the ABS system by the way ?
  5. What about the standard UK sport LSD, is it up to RS200 power ?
  6. Anybody have any comment on lsd's or is this better posted in the main section ? You could be right about tyre pressures, new wheels coming so i'll sort it out then cheers
  7. I have a tiptronic RS200 without a LSD, so i'm finding a few occasions where i'm spinning one rear wheel up coming out of tighter corners etc. The obvious solution would be to get one from a UK sport, which i guess will be the same idea as the one in my AE86, does the job without being that harsh as opposed to an aftermarket one which in AE86's at least are a bit more brutal in their action. what do people have in their cars, also what would the going rate be for a Sport LSD ? On a similar vain, the suspension on the car feels not that well controlled, sometimes harsh over poor surfaces but a bit bouncy over undulations. I don't know if this car has standard components on it or not, elastic band tyres on the 18" wheels aren't helping either i know. How does standard RS200 suspension match up to UK Sport ? It may be that the poor roads near here dictate changing to something a bit more suitable. As a new owner i have a few more questions, but i'll get to those at a later date :winky:
  8. Thanks all I'll be getting the car on some ramps to have a good look over it. Talking to previous owners it seems the car may well have come to the UK with the repairs. Still need to find out whats up with the ABS especially. Will be spending some tim (and money) getting her up to standard so i would expect that there might be a few more questions Cheers
  9. Hi there, yet another new owner, but with a few questions. I've just bought a 1999 tiptronic rs200 z-edition. I've had a search of the topics for the answers but either didn't search hard enough or the answers are not there. If i'm asking previously answered questions i'm sorry. The car I've bought was fairly cheap and has had some repair work in the past, but i have a couple of concerns. I don't appear to have ABS, would the unit normally be located drivers side on the bulkhead. I guess there is meant to be a warning light on the dash when you put the ignition on to indicate the ABS system is OK, similarly with the airbags, should i have a warning light when i put the ignition on. Far more mundane, its sat nav equipped, well sort of as the screens there as is the system in the boot but nothing happens at all. It seems this is because the sat nav routes through the inbuilt amp and as the original stereo is gone then i expect the amp is as well. With this in mind, can the screen be used to display any other information, say from a carputer of dvd player. The last option would be to stick a tom tom or similar in the housing, has this be done before ? My rear lights have the fibreglass "after burner" covers on them, it's not really my thing, so if anyone wants a white set in exchange for the standard ones I'd be happy to swap. How do you get to the bulbs in the fog lights, there seems to no way to the back or are the front splitters causing the problem. Lastly, if anyone knows some history of the car, it would be great to know what has happened to it. All the best Jon
