  1. £700 is still alot of money, is the repair guaranteed? I should have takenout a lexus warranty!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  2. This is incorrect information. The warranty is the same price at all dealers. I can confirm this as i work for a Lexus dealer and the dealers make nothing out of selling the warranty only the person who sells it gets a few high street vouchers. Definately go with the lexus warranty, i had a warranty with warranty direct and to be honest its not even worth wiping your arse with!!! I spend £450 on the warranty but found they really didnt cover anything and on top of this you have to pay 20% of all costs. Utter rubbish!!
  3. Ok so lexus say the navigation computer is at fault. A replacement will cost £2800. i can no way afford that but i need navigation. Any ideas guys??? Obviously theres the tom tom route.
  4. Hi guys, As the title of this topic suggests, i think my nav computer has given up the ghost. I have a 2005 RX400h and haven't had any issues with the nav before. It went into lexus manchester for its 70k service about three weeks ago and less than a week ago it went into lexus manchester again for a wheel alignment as it was pulling to the left. Since then, i've had an error message on the screen saying, 'insert correct DVD' followed by some text in Japanese. I've also lost many options on the nav computer too. I removed the nav disc, cleaned it, replaced it but to no avail. My brother and i then stripped the boot down disconnected the wires at the back of the unit, left it for half an hour and reconnected it...............black screen followed by the same error message. I'm busy for the next few weeks, so ive sent an email to lexus manchester asking if they can collect the car from my residence and find out what the fault is. I fear its going to need a new nav computer as i cant hear it spinning up and with my past experience with bmw nav computers i think i'm looking at about £1000 for a new one. Unlike bmw there isnt an abundance of nav computers on ebay either. If anyone has any advice please reply. I will keep you guys posted............
  5. JAZZY... get used to the poor consumption brother, mine WAS so poor it was the main reason I sold it.. Spent a small fortune in trying to sort it but a £55 tank would only give me 200miles, wouldn't make a difference whether I was pootling around town or on the motorway. I have now gone over to the dark side (Audi A4 2.0 sport), my driving style hasn't changed one bit and to a £55 tank I'm now getting 400 miles.. That's what you should get in the Lex.. They are nice cars but AUDI A4 I find is soooooooo much nicer..
  6. Can relate. I read that your 02 sensor should be changed every 20k miles anyway. Mines got 28k miles on the clock. The other possibility is that in the last service, the work was undertaken by a garage that are not Lexus accredited, so the chances are that they fiddled something to break down later anyway. If there is one thing I have learned in being a car owner is- it is worth taking it to the specialists, bceause the job done improperly can cost you more in the long run and also to find a recommended dealership, not just the closest. There is no indication that the spark plugs have been changed in the service history and I know that they are supposed to last for 60k miles minimum. Maybe I need to just step out in faith and take it to the Lexus garage. Anyone got any particular recommendations? I live in Watford, Herts. I'm considering Hatfield. :duh: Bruv i'm not sure when the O2 sensors need replacing. I'm more than sure that an o2 sensor should last more than 20K. Maybe one of the brothers on the forum can shed some light.
  7. Hi everyone, I just can't beleive how some of the guys on the forum say they get 350-400 on a full tank. I think this is nothing short og divine intervention. I drive like i'm driving HRH Queen Lizzie round & the very best I've ever got is 250 & thats motorway driving too!!! The lex drinks like petrol's going outta fashion, more than any other 2.0 in its class in fact (apart from the jap t/c models of course) I had a sticking caliper(s) - got those changed yesterday along with new discs/pads & lower ball joints. I'm hoping the caliper situation will help consumption but i'm not holding my breath. I've checked my air filter all is good, another thing is that I can't beleive that changing plugs is whole heartedly responsible for poor consumption. I hope you sort it out bruv as 14mpg is real bad. In fact its just 1mpg more than my brother's old bmw v12!!!
  8. How comes you're thinking of selling bruv?? Its not giving you trouble is it?? Mines starting to P**s me off a little now, its just one thing after another. Might just get everthing sorted & sell it. At the moment it needs 2 new front calipers, discs & pads up front, both bottom front ball joints stuffed. gettig it repaired on Wednesday if i ever get the ball joints...
  9. bruv they're about £90 per side from the main stealers. Dave at Prolex had a sale on recently. I ordered both os & ns for £73. I think the sale ended though dude!!!
  10. Brother, Things to look out for: check the lower ball joints for some reason IS's eat em for brekky. Check for binding brake calipers, again these seem to be a common problem. If the car is a little up on miles, check that there is no red residue around the water pump. If you're buying an example with SAT NAV, check the screen doesn't turn all different colours when the screen is fully open. Check the cd changer in front works. Load it with 6 cd's and change discs a few times, if it comes up with ERR3 the mechanism is on the way out. Check the alloys as the lacquer is of poor quality and road salt/grit pits the alloy. That's as much as I can say at this moment... If anything else comes to mind I'll post it.. lol... by the way, I forgot they can be thirsty so make sure you have thought carefully before you buy!!! I would STRONGLY recomend that you buy from one of the brothers on the forum, you can rest assure that these cars are powdered & pampered & no expense would be spared on them. All things said, they are fantastic cars & generally reliable... Hope the info helps. Goldie
  11. Brother, fantastic looking car, i think black is the best colour for the IS.. Nice mods & gorgeous Defi gauges... keep it up!!!!
  12. dude how was the quality of this £95 kit? I have been looking at it for some time, thinking whether I should buy it or not.. please share your experience.
  13. The alarm on the Lexus is CRAZY, the horn starts flaring and everything!!! I completely cacked my load when it went off.. Other than that it is classed as Thatch cat 1 & is rated highly... I wouldn't bother replacing it unless you live in some kind of demilitarised zone..
  14. guys from a full tank I'm lucky of i get 230...Thats a mixture of town/motorway. I'm gonna service the bad boy soon, change all the drive belts, oil, filters the whole shabang, see what I get then. Until then I'll just keep on admirin her under the petty station forecourts... :D
