  1. All the best Ken. I've enjoyed all your input here on the NX forum. I think we both got our Gen 2 NXs at roughly the same time (and were pretty much the first to do so on the LOC). Good luck with the RX - I hope it meets all your expectations and more.
  2. I had this post appear on my Twitter feed today regarding the recovery of a stolen RX. If you enlarge the photo you will see the telltale sign of the wheel arch molding having been removed. Looks like a tracker was the saviour on this occasion.
  3. I can see what you're saying but typically Lexus cars are stolen for spare parts or for shipping overseas - not to be thrashed by a couple of joyriding yobs (there are plenty of hot-hatchbacks around for that purpose). From what I gather, the thieves drive the car to a quiet location somewhere and wait a day or two to see if the owner finds it. In this scenario the tags may prove invaluable and, assuming that the thieves hadn't caused too damage in the method by which they stole it, I'd probably want it back.
  4. Hi James, I'm assuming that your ES has the new Lexus Interface multimedia system. If so then I would take a look at the "Software update" thread on the NX forum first before deciding whether to do the update. There have been issues for some owners post-update.
  5. The only slight issue with connecting to Lexus' suggested jump starter terminals under the bonnet (notably point D as referenced in the manual) is that the jump leads provided with most jump starter packs are notoriously short so may not stretch that far.
  6. Sounds like you have the climate control "synch" option enabled. You'll notice this button alongside all the other heating controls under the Infotainment screen. If it's highlighted in blue, it will synch both left and right sides. As @AWC has stated, I think your other issues are related to the introduction of the second key. What key is now your primary one? If not already, I would revert to your original key and keep the one you've just received as the spare.
  7. I too had the same issues following the latest software update that you have described (Arrow icon with the cross through it; no journeys being recorded; unable to get last known car location; Connected Services not enabled under Info and Security). After trying many times to get these services to stay enabled, the problem just went away without me doing anything else. Since then I have used the car a few times and the services have remained enabled (the only one that doesn't is the "Use voice data" service which I have given up on for now) and the Arrow icon is blue (meaning that the car is communicating with the Lexus servers). Sorry that any of the above probably isn't of much help for your particular problems but what I can say is that the Security lock" settling is disabled and I have never dared to enable it so I don't think that enabling it will help you. I know that one or two others on here had the same issues but not sure if for them the problem just resolved itself like it did for me. Hope you get if sorted soon.
  8. So I went out to the car this morning to try Ken's suggested fix. Turned the car on and lo and behold the Arrow icon was blue indicating that the necessary Connected Services were already enabled. This was confirmed by checking under "Info and Security". I then turned the car off and then back on a couple of times and the services remained enabled each time (and the Arrow icon remained blue). So maybe it has sorted itself out - but who knows, given Lexus' record on software and technology. Or maybe tomorrow it will all be broken again. However, I couldn't get the "Voice data" service to stay enabled so gave up on this one at that point. I think this particular service is required to facilitate some of the more extensive "Hey Lexus" voice commands that need to go out to the internet to get executed.
  9. Hi Ken, can you elaborate please? Are you saying that you enabled these features via the Navigation settings rather than via Info and Security?
  10. Yep, same for me guys. No matter how often I enable the Connected Services they get disabled again when I next start the car. So at the moment, a software upgrade which delivered little or no tangible improvement or enhanced functionality (from my point of view anyway) has currently removed one function that I found at least half useful (i.e. the trip recording).
  11. Just been out to the car and the same settings were disabled as described by @hintonwood I enabled these settings and all appears to be OK again (the Lexus Link+ app is now reporting the car's correct location and I assume that my journeys will be recorded again). Looks like the recent software upgrade was to blame for disabling the Connected Services settings.
  12. Thanks for pointing this out Ken. I'll check the settings on my car and see if that fixes it for me too.
