  1. The existing bulbs are dual filament. You just need to connect them to the number plate light circuit.
  2. The TPMS has a small pressure sensor in each wheel attached to the valve stem. This sends out a signal to the monitoring unit. Each wheel sensor is coded so the unit knows which tyre has low pressure. As far as I am aware the sensors have a fixed pressure when they send out an alrm signal, something like 20psi. I know what it looks like because I broke the valve stem off when trying to get the metal cap off to check the pressure - instant flat tyre. The unit is lithium battery powered and is supposed to last for 10 years. However, the metal valve cap corrodes onto the valve stem within a year or so. Be warned. This is a common fault and it costs over £250 to get a new sensor fitted. I have plastic caps now.
  3. Had mine replace a few years ago. If I remember correctly, there are some anti-tamper bolts on a cover (theft prevention) that are difficult to get off to gain access and would have to be replaced.
  4. Despite al the technicall innovations, I still think that my 9 years old GS mk2 is better than my 3 years old GS mk3. The mk2 is so quiet and comfortable and the steering feels better. They seem to be a different class. The mk 3 seems to be more Toyota.
  5. Yesterday we arrive back at Liverpool airport after being away for 4 days. Tried to open the doors (both my key was in my pocket and my wife had hers in her bag) no luck. Tried the boot and no go. Took out the remote and tried to open the doors and boot - nothing. We call the RAC and 20 mins later they arrived. He took the remote from me, walked up to the door and it unlocked! It has worked OK ever since.
  6. The Sat Nav DVD is ejected from the Sat Nav. Can't remember which menue, it lets you change the voice command volumes etc.
  7. If you look at the US Lexus Range then you will see other models too, like the LX and GX that at are based on the the Toyota Land Cruiser and Highlander. They like to have a number of options available that we don't get in Europe.
  8. My 99 Mk2 GS300 has 126k on it and still out performs newer cars. It is still as quiet as when I got it. In fact I like it more than our Mk3 GS300. The front suspension needs some work on it, but otherwise it is great
  9. The warning light came on so I tried to check the pressures. One valve cap was seized and I broke off the valve stem!! :tsktsk: I was quoted £241 to get a new sensor and have it programmed into the system
  10. Has anyone had trouble with their interior mirror vibrating on rough roads on their Mk3 GS300? The one on my Mk2 is rock solid.

  12. One of the centre cap emblems from my wheels has gone. No idea where and why. Can anyone help me get a replacement? I imagine that a Lexus replacement part costs an arm and a leg.
  13. There is one where you put magnets on the fuel line. It is supposed to "line up the molecules" and therefore improve performance and economy. I'm sure it is down to psychology. You put it on the car and believe it will save fuel, so subconsciously you drive in a way that does. Jackie Stewart's racing driving school used a ball in a saucer. If you drive smoothly, accelerate smoothly and brake smoothly, the ball stays in the saucer. Keeping the ball in the saucer in corners scrubs off less speed. Jackie Stewart got James May to adopt the style and he actually drove faster. But the principle goes for saving fuel as well, the system has to use more fuel to accelerate suddenly compared to gradual accelaration, even if you get to the same speed in the same time.
  14. Has anyone thought about why the USA get a GS350 with 303bhp and 0-60 in 5.7sec and we only get the GS300 with only 245bhp and 0-60 in 7.2sec? Seems that we are missing out there. In fact the GS350 has more power than the GS430 (294bhp). With that power and the lighter engine it would be a better handling car than the GS430. Has anyone thought about modding their engine?
  15. Does anyone know if you can alter the sensitivity setting for the automatic lights? I would like them to switch on when it is a bit lighter. Also is it possible to programme all the doors to lock when the car starts moving or is put into drive or reverse? I remember seeing a list that these options were available for the dealer to change. But is it possible to hack the system?
