  1. guys, thanks for your replys; its not sold yet, may go back in the morning. 28000 miles (pearl) and £14,490 ? wonder if they'll take an offer. will let you know :)
  2. Hi, my is200 is nearing retirement and I'm thinking of a IS250f sport, what tips do I look for when I test drive it and do I ignore the poor reviews I keep seeing?
  3. Hi all, my IS200 may need to be retired soon, test driving a pearl 2010 ISF on Friday. Any tips, should I ignore the poor reviews that keep cropping up. Its a cracking looking car!
  4. My clutch now slipps like a bas****, have booked it in with local garagel Lexus quoted £600+. Did you pay that? I'm also having the rear oil seal checked out. I've been told that a good box oil is called AMS, but check it before you use it. Dops
  5. See my post on 'clutch slip / oil leak' I think its the same problem. It sounds like a slipping clutch but I'm not so sure. My IS does the same as yours, when its cold first thing (with a little whine!!) If it is an oil leak, then you'll waste money on the clutch and pi$$ oil all over it (thats what I'm worried about). I'll let you know how I get on. Dops
  6. I've replyed to Chandlersa's topic on this but wanted other opinions. Mt IS200 (like his) slips the clutch now and then and sounds like its an auto! When I bought my IS200 it was reported (by AA) to have small oil leak near the gearbox. I ignored that. When I took it to Lexus Reading with the usual Lexus problem - i.e judder in 1st, clunk in 2nd, now the slip, they said there's nothing wrong. The clunk is normal, the judder is just me. The mechanic put it into gear and pulled away with the handbreak on- the engine stalled as normal. But it still slips, only in 4th gear when I go up hill. I'm now wondering if its just oil on the clutch. Has anyone else had this? If so, how much to fix it and did you get a new cluch anyway? The car's done 62k, I'm told a clutch 'should' last longer. Lets assume I do get a new clutch, should I get a straight swap or try a pattern part? Cheers, Dops
  7. Hold on... sounds like you're driving my car!! It started doing it a bit last year, now its got worse. Exactly as you say, sounds like as auto. When I bought my IS200 it was reported (by AA) to have small oil leak near the gearbox. I ignored that. I took it to Lexus Reading with the usual Lexus problem - i.e judder in 1st, clunk in 2nd, now the slip. They said there's nothing wrong (he put it in gear and pulled away with the handbreak on- the engine stalled as normal. In other words, no one looked inside to see what the matter was. I would guess your garage did the same. I wonder if its just oil on the clutch. If it is, then there may be a seal gone, in which case the clutch kit won't help. I may post this again to see if we get any other ideas. Dops
  8. Cheers Javadude (and everyone else), I've calmed down a bit now. Will call Reading tomorrow, hope they can sort it out. Will Post what they have to say.
  9. Stereo is 4 years is it? I'll try that tomorrow, is there any proof of the extended warranty. Cheers
  10. My local dealer is Reading, what are my chances or a warranty deal, do you think? Cheers
  11. Have had the Lexus for 6 months but not from new, is now just over 3 years old (lucky me). CD player has been giving the famous ERR3 message a few times lately, now packed up - stuck - jammed or what ever, CDs don't play or come out. I sold my old Nissan 'cause I don't like unreliable cars, is this a sign of things to come? How much will it cost to fix? I've pulled fuses, hit it, pushed various buttons but no luck. Funny how things like this taint your opinion of a car!!
  12. its going to take you days to read all these .. I've just picked up my S/Hand IS200, it had two stone chips which I had fixed but expect to get more. I'll be using any high-protection wax or polish if such a thing exists. I think it's us excepting lower quality in the face of an otherwise superior car (we let them get away with it!!) Dops
  13. Hi guys, after months of talking I've done the right thing, purchased by first ever IS200 (2000). Lovely car, granite sky, very standard but in great condition. What I want to do know is; add some chrome bits to where ever possible. Please advise shops or dealsers to try near Reading. Also, has anyone fitted one of the sports spoliers (for the S or SE) to the boot lid. I'd like to get involved in the club meets, so I'll keep my eyes open. Cheers, Dops :D
  14. Let me be the first to Welcome, but I only joined myself this week. I'm collecting my IS200 in the morning (not new though!) Hopefully neither of us will ned to ask for HELP!!! I've found this site very useful. Cheers, Dops
  15. Cheers Chris, I'll let u all know how I get on. Dops
