  1. Hi I have a 2006 gs300se which has done about 54k miles. The car has a full Lexus service history. For the last few months I have noticed that a few blebs have formed on all of my alloys, some more than others. I took this to my Lexus dealer enquiring what they were. He stated that this is salt corrosion caused by pebbles from grit abrading the wheels lacquer and then causing blebs and in order to get them done it would be £60 + vat per wheel. My argument that this wasn't expected in my car and I didn't have this problem with othe cars and their alloys fell on deaf ears. Any ideas is suggestions or similar problems? Thanks
  2. Hi Guys A quick question. I have a 2006 gs 300 se with MMS and sat nav. I have the older version of the map disc. A new one is available. PArt number pz445x03eu -10 Now will this update allow me to operate my nav unit whilst the car is moving because currently I have to come to a complete stop before I can reprogramme the GPS. Furthermore, will it override the movement restriction (for want of a better term) on my viewing folders whilst the car is moving? I know it is a bit silly for the driver to do so but there is no reason why a passenger cannot do so safely. My local lexus dealer says that it cannot be done and is unsure about the dvd upgrade making any difference to either. Any experiences? Thanks
  3. Hi Guys Hello to you all, after several years of thinking and being a merc owner, I finally saw the light and I bought myself a 2006 GS300 SE with multimedia pack. Now I am told that there are many versions of the DVD nav firmware as well as the map DVD (the roads keep on changing and I keep on getting lost). I am picking the car up from the dealer on Friday, what is the latest version number of the firmware and the DVD map and how do I find that out? Many thanks guys, it looks like my time on this forum is going to be quite interesting (pleasantly, ofcourse)
  4. Hi I am going to look at a 2001 Y LS430 tomorrow. It has done 55k miles and is for £16000. What sort of things should I look for and be aware of? It is at a main dealer what sort of techniques could I use to get a better price? Thanks
  5. Hi Keith Thanks for your excellent report. Perhaps black is not a great colour anyway. I will go for silver, I think. How much do you pay on road tax and how much on servicing? Regards
  6. Kalahari Sand or Pallagio Silver, I think. With beige leather.
  7. Hi Thanks for your reply. I currently drive an Evo8 320, so I will notice a drop in the performance. What I am actually looking for is an everyday luxury car which can take me from one place to the other in style, fun and comfort. I think this is it. I have my mind set on it and look forward to buying it. The only concern is the road tax and the servicing. What are they like and how much would you pay for them. Also, does it have an electric mode only, like the Prius for city driving? I really appreciate your replies and do find them very helpful so please keep them coming. Regards
  8. Thanks guys. I think I am going to like it here.
  9. Thanks guys. How do I have ot for a week end to decide what it is to love with. Also some of you mentioned the bumpy ride, does the suspension switch from normal to sport mode
  10. Hi I am a newbie around here and am in the market for a GS450h. Just wondering how is it to live with everyday and is it as economical as it is made out to be. What is the servicing like and the road tax/ Plus are there any tips or hints to keep in mind when looking around for a second hand one? Thanks
  11. Hi. Warped discs will give you judder. It is quite common for cars with auto transmission to have warped discs. When you brake the disc heats up. If the brake pads are held against the disc when they are hot they cool assymetrically, i.e the part of the disc in contact with the pads cools at a slower rate. This causes the disc to warp. Guess what many of us do when stopped at traffic lights, we rest out foot on the brake pedal to prevent the car from creeping. Thats the reason why most cars judder when braking. Hope it helps.
  12. Hello guys Just dropped in to say hello. I am looking at buying a GS450h so I thought I would sound this forum out. Any useful tidbits of advice would go down well. Thanks
