  1. I guess like everything else, doing it is not the problem, getting caught doing it is the problem. If you get caught, you take the punishment for it. I see no reason why McLaren shouldn't have been punished for it. If an autotechnician at a garage buggers up your car, you don't go after the mechanic for the costs, you go after the garage. Same rules apply here IMO.
  2. I would assume they are not legal if you just converted the lights and did nothing else. The reflector in the cluster looks like it has to be removed judging by the pics. I guess if you put some reflectors elsewhere on the rear of the car, I can't see why you wouldn't get away with it.
  3. You can get the stickers from the LOC store - click on the dropdown on the right at the top of the screen. Not sure if they're in stock yet, but if not, just send Steve a PM and he might have some extras left over. I got some silver ones from Steve a few weeks back. He hasn't got all the colors that are normally available though.
  4. The sub key has no boot opening button on it .. a master key does Both my keys unlock boot with button or key. This is even with internal remote unlock pushed in, so I assume I dont have a valet key. hmmm, there must be different systems on different cars? I have two keys, both black, neither with any buttons on, just Lexus logos like Ryo mentions. Both keys unlock everything, doors, boot, glovebox and boot release lock button. I then have two remote fobs with two buttons on, button 1 does lock (press again straight after and it turns off the interior detector), button 2 unlocks. No unlocking boot with key buttons. Seems odd that they seem to have different systems on the go, or are they interchangeable? i.e. can I get keys with buttons on for mine?
  5. I was gonna say that too. That clip looks like it is about to fall out.
  6. You don't work for kwikfit in Derby by any chance?
  7. Did you find a solution? Do the indicators flash when it goes off? or just the horns (can you tell which horns go off?)?
  8. I'm not a big fan of the LED light thing personally. There is an A8 or A6, not sure which, that passes me most days on the way to work and they look tacky to me. Like your standard rice burner stick on leds and flourescent tubes all over the place. They'll be putting blue leds on the washer nozzles next :shutit: The rest of the car looks good though, as does the A5. The latest 3 series BMW's are the best looking bimmer for a long time since the E36 and first E46's, Chris Bangle really screwed up BMW IMO. Glad to see them back on course on the looks front again.
  9. I can't see how valve stem seals would cause your symptoms (other than the smoke you mentioned earlier). I would get a second opinion. Make sure you don't mention the smoke when getting that opinion, just find out what is causing the pinking. The other place may be trying to cure the smoking?
  10. If the noise squeekes and stops, even if the pedal is held in, or does it with the engine off, then I agree it doesn't sound like a realease bearing to me either, more like a pivot somewhere or dry cable (unless it is a hydraulic clutch of course)
  11. Any one ever tested to see what kind of difference it actually makes?
  12. Yeah, mine has had some respray work done on it by previous owner so have never seen it. Does it look the same as the ones in the rear quarters?
  13. And they didn't come out of the factory like it either, they were "changed" to Sport models once they hit our shores I believe.
  14. I agree with that. Didn't the Mk1 get a five speed box in 96 though? Something to do with how the overdrive gear kicks in on the gearbox.
  15. I agree, take it back and show them, preferably while a few potential customers are looking round the showroom.
  16. If you are saying the auto electrician "Clocked" your car when he did the repair, then TBH, I wouldn't call 22 km "clocking". 22,000 km I would, but not 22.
  17. As far as I know, something is only considered modified if it has stuff on it that weren't on it when it rolled off the production line. If the tints came out of the factory (on the car), then you wouldn't even have to declare them.
  18. Because generally as the car gets old it is not economical to have the car dealer services. FSH is only worth anything to the seller if it means it keeps its price high, a 15+ year old car is worth buttons, so every £200 or £300 spent on dealer services is money down the drain that you will never recoup.
  19. Who/where says they should use Glass'? CAP is the industry standard for dealers to use, I don't know any that I have dealt with that use Glass' as the way to go when purchasing. Glass' have always given higher prices, hence why the dealer will use CAP to buy, and Glass' to persuade you to buy at the price they have on the forecourt. Makes perfect sense and why wouldn't they do it that way. At the end of the day, if you as an individual can buy something cheaper, you would and if you could sell it on higher, you would too. You are given a figure and you takes your choice, if you take it, no one has stolen from anybody. They are in the business to make money afterall
  20. I did it a few weeks ago on my '96 Mk1, very simple plug and play job. Well, almost. The only problem I had was that the wires on the plug and play loom were the oposite way round (+ve and -ve) compared to the Lexus loom. Just a case of releasing the pins from the HID kit plug switching them over. It did make me think I'd been sent a duff set to start with though so just something to look out for when you get them.
  21. How can you tell if you have the master key? I have two keys, but no idea if either or both are master keys, I don't have the little tag with the number on if I lose them both. I wouldn't mind getting another 1 or 2 done so I have spares in Derby and Surrey.
