  1. Wow. Hows that for predictive text.... a small coin such as five penny.....
  2. I just usemy finger nails...a small voin suvh as give penny piece ...or a thin screw driver....try it. Not difficult. But as Crusemark says, you will never really need to!
  3. See this link http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/46353-mark-levinson-subwoofer-replacement-andor-repair/ I repaired mine with clear silicon . It'll take minimum of 24 hrs to set...To remove the girl on the subwoofer I used nail removing end of the hammer...be gentle though. Good luck...this was a twenty minute job...have plenty of paper towels handy to wipe the excess silicon
  4. Hello, Adam Thanks for the offer but I know all there is to know about my LS430. Shiner
  5. I think Adam is right...E must be for exchange because the Toyota do not require it to order this part . Incidentally, my LS430 is manufactured in 2003 according to the date on the seat belt labels.
  6. If you wish to google this part number use the whole number without the hyphen .ie 8831050152
  7. Most likely...without the compressor you should not be getting any air con! Also apologies for giving the wrong part number It's E88310-50152 Too many items on the invoice!
  8. I have had the misfortune of having the compressor replaced by my lexus dealer! £1899 later the air con was working perfectly! The part number on the invoice is E88310-50080 Before you decide to replace please find an independent air con outfit who could repair your compressor. I am told there's gearbox inside the compressor which might be the culprit and could be repaired at a fraction of the cost of complete replacement. The much praised dealers are very greedy and Lexus are no exceptions! Good luck
  9. Upside down photos... I find that when I try to upload photos , usually when taken with iPad or IPhone and i chose Camera Roll . But if i chose My photo Stream then they seem to work ok Don't ask me why...it just happens
  10. Apologies to all The buttons are the other way around One on the right is for turning the smart key to on or off and the other one on the left of is for resetting the tyre pressure warning. Shiner
  11. Hi William Your car may well be smarter than you but... There are two buttons under the steering wheel...as you look at the wheel the button on the left is for turning your smart key to off or on and the button on the right is for resetting the 'tire' pressure... So whilst resetting your tyre pressure, you must have switched the snark key function back on! I always turn the smart key function off if I am not going to drive the car for few days..... Shiner
  12. Thanks Ian I am still to test drive them. I had narrowed one but when I rang the dealer they advised me that the car had been sold. also I think all of the 400s come with 18inch rims bit the 450s come with 19inch ones...apparently this improves the ride quality considerable!..I have no personal experience of this but just what I have read. Hope you enjoy your 450 for many years.
  13. I had mine done at ATS last year. I paid £29... Check their website. They often have a special offer for Air con re gassing. But you must book it online and print the voucher to take advantage of the special offer otherwise they charge full price Good luck
  14. Thanks all I think I will test drive both but probably go for the 2009 400 and if I can find one then it'll probably the last model Toyota built before they brought out LS450h Shiner
  15. Welcome Scott Grey is GREAT.... Enjoy your LS430....it's a lovely cabin! Shiner
  16. Hi folks Need some help from owners of the above models. I own an LS430 SEL. I have had a lot of problems with mine...you can read all about it on my post" is LS430 a good value" There has been a lot of debate which LS MODEL is was the best made ....and most say it's the LS400. I am now thinking of getting rid of the 😙430 and buying either 400 or 450 and do not want to make the same mistake as with my LS. so which one would you recommend ? And if any of you have changed from an LS HOW DO YOU COMPARE THE driving experience? Are there any gold members who wish to sell theirs ? Otherwise I will only buy from a Lexus dealer. Thanks Shiner
  17. I hope I am not breaking any rules by offering a link..... Here's a link from Honest John...scroll down read the heading "during the first six months".... You might wish to read the whole article if having difficulty in sleeping http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ Shiner
  18. Sad to see this rather disappointing saga... I have always lived by the simple principle... ''people who mind don't matter, people who matter don't mind'' Wish you would stay Ambermarine....couldn't you just ignore Bilmac? Shiner
  19. Thanks ambermarine but.... I have seen the YouTube ...but sadly that one is for LS400... I was amazed what a a cable tie can do with a £55000 car..... I have also seen pictures of a guy fixing the telescoping problem on an LS430 by replacing a rubber bushel ... both of these are on the US lexus forum. I am just not confident enough to try any of those...so for now I will stay with it and see what goes wrong next. Regards Shiner
  20. Will Tried the pull the steering wheel out ..whilst I could pull it out and push it back....but the end result is that it refuses to work automatically.....so will live with it and have no desire to spend money to replace the motor...I am sure a good mechanic should be able to fix the motor...probably a rubber bushel or something ..... Thanks for the suggestion! Shiner
  21. Hi Will Hope you find that after you have fixed the air con pipes that your compressor is not fished....if it is then do not let Lexus replace it ...do what Honest John suggests...have it's gear box checked and that's probably all you have to fix....as for me...well you know what happened.... I shall try the pulling the wheel out trick in the morning....fingers crossed...but if doesn't work I am not going to worry about it....incidentally Lexus Hatfield has quoted more than £700 for replacing the tilt &telescope motors...but of course they will do a diagnostic for a fee!
  22. Quality & reliability of Lexus is dropping like the proverbial...and they have to be careful...since their Customer care people are becoming the clones of Mercedes...arrogant! What distinguished them in the early days has disappeared....I am an ex Merc enthusiast... I like my Lexus...but more because of what it is and how much I enjoy driving it when it is on sing!... In pursuite of perfection means they no longer extend their warranty past 8 yrs!.....despite the huge profit they could make....that's the extent of their reliability they are prepared to back up...8 years!... But I think ls400 owners should stay with their cars...and buy another for spare parts..... Likewise for the 430....but my experience may tempt a lot to dump them... I am with Hihihi....quality control is no longer their strong point!l
  23. Hi, ambermarine, You are a philosopher..I wish I had picked your post earlier.... There's something about folks like me ...never happy with what they have got...but I am learning! Thanks
