  1. Thanks for your response Paul. And noted 'headlight lamps' 😉 I will take a look at the ON. In terms of getting the new speakers I take it the specs will be detailed in the manual so I can start there. I wanted the ML but the rest of my car hit all the must haves and I had to sacrifice internal ICE.
  2. Hi Everyone, I have an 2011 IS250 SE-I and was wondering if it is a fairly straight forward installation of 6x9 speakers to the parcel shelf? I need some extra bass and don't want to add a sub. Also is it possible to enhance the quality of the fron lights in general to make them more brighter? They seem quite dim to me. Thanks for any help.
  3. Thanks again for the suggestions. Ok, so there was no difference in temperature on the front left wheel. There was also no smell of burning brakes...I was driving for 20 miles so I figure I would have defintiely smelt something once I got back. However, my back left tyre was down to 20 psi, anf the front left was at near 27, so I had all tyres checked and set to 33 psi all round and what do you know it handles like it used to. Cant believe it was such a simple fix. On the plus side I was ****ting it as I was thinking I might need new callipers etc. I did also learn some new things too! Thanks Chris and Taylor much appreciated!
  4. Hi Chris, Thank you for your response. I will check this once I drive home, particularly for the temp and smell of hot brakes... So in short order I will be doing the following: 1.) After 20 mile drive home, check the temp of each wheel. Checking if 1 out of 4 is different to the other 3. 2.) Sniff for hot brake scent. 3.) Jack Car up and spin front wheels. Please bear in mind that the back discs are the originals only the brake pads were changed. The front however have new discs and pads, all Pagid. Im pretty sure when it pulls to the left it seems as if its leading with the front...if that makes any sense. Thanks again and I will update you with my findings. emissary
  5. Hi Gang, I recently had my geometry settings done by Wheels in Motion and was driving well. This weekend I had a mechanic friend change my brakes pads and discs all round. I bought Pagid barke pads and discs. However, I am notice the steering feels stiffer and not as looseor flexible as before and the car now pulls to the left when driving in a straight line. Could there be something that was missed out? I thought changing pads and discs is a relatively straight forward job and should not affect tracking??? Please can someone provide some assistance as I do not really want to have to shell out £`100 for WIM to have to look at them, plus I am 100 miles away round trip... Thanks for any help... :)
  6. Thanks scudney, I have just been advised by Lexus that it does NOT have LSD, so at least I know now. However, I guess the oil is now my next move. Thanks for your input.
  7. Hi Everyone, I am now the proud owner of my second IS200SE, which is on an 05 plate and fully loaded with all the trimmings. It is fair to say not even this hurricane St Jude will stop me driving it today...ahem. :) It has been years since I was on here but the credit crunch of 2008 necessitated that I sell my last Lexus due to financial circumstances, so now I got another one! Anyway I am hoping someone can help me with some quick questions. 1.) The car itself is pretty much in excellent mint condition, I was lucky! However, when I start up in the morning and change from 1st to 2nd gear, there is a bit of hesitancy, like a bit of a clunk, but it does get in to 2nd. As the car is driven throughout the day the problem is not as bad. My friend suggested this could be something to do with Synchromesh. A quick Google also suggested that using the following oil would help to rectify the problem: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1020-red-line-synthetic-manual-transmission-90-mt90-75w-90-gl4.aspx I also read that Lexus acknowledge this issue as a 'feature' but yet other owners of IS200s do not experience it at all. 2.) I rang Lexus and provided my reg number. I wanted to know if my IS has LSD or not? Can it be determined just from the reg number or do you need the VIN number? Also do I need to change the oild for the LSD or will the same oil I use for my gearbox via the above link be ok to use aswell? Thanks to anyone who helps, I have done some research but given the time I have been away, I am not sure if the oil for the gearbox is the best, there might be something better out there. Cheers, emissary
  8. Sorry DJ Wozza, I am going mad. Mad mad mad...lol thanks for your help. Gonna call em tomorow. I shall let you all know of the results. By the way, your pedals seem to be missing some screws, is that by design or did u simply take the pics before you finished screwing them in? Thanks. I am going to order those pedals on ebay, I take it event though it says they are for IS250, they will be ok for IS200? (Sorry if I appear a bit dense here...) Thanks. emissary.
  9. Thanks guys for such informative help, I really have some info to go on now. DJ Wozza, I may just take you up on your offer and meet up soon, just got to look at the finances and get everything done in one hit if possible. Coming back to the cigarette marks, now as seen in the photos, these are like melted marks on the seats and I feel such a ****** for what I did, but still I need to cover em up somehow. I am thinking just getting them coloured in. Theye are not immediately noticeable and I think some colour rejuvination might just work, only thing is has anyone done anything like this before or could possibly recommend a decent interior fixer? Thanks again gang.
  10. Hi guys and gals, I bought an IS200se auto with navigator pack and am wanting to make it as sporty as possible. So far I am resolved to: 1.) Add lip spoiler 2.) Add uprated exhaust as recommended in the relevant sticky on these forums 3.) Change brake pedals to something shiny and metal 4.) Where I come unstuck now is the suspension. I want it lowered to sport spec and to keep the standard 17" alloys, paint the callipers, refurb the wheels, add some better tyres. Where do I start for this and how much am I looking at? Do I get the lexus garage to do it? Also, I have done the worst thing EVER and allowed smoking to occur in my motor, as such I have 2 burns on my lovely velour seats, the velvety fabric, I am in the process of hunting for something that can mask or colour in the stains, any ideas at all? There are no cigarette burn holes, just hardened stains...STUPID STUPID STUPID!!! Thanks for listening chums, emissary
  11. Thanks guys, I have however been quoted £100 for the lip from lexus teeside and £70 for a set of mats, seems a bit more than u all paid, but still I am new here. If I get one from ebay they are cheaper, but are they of equal quality? I see sales saying they are exactly the same etc, should I be wary who I buy off? As for the dvd version, is it simply a case of looking at the sat nav fora model number or something? Or do I need to look at the dvd player model in the boot? Thanks to all again
  12. Hi All, I was wondering if the experienced amongst you out there could offer some advice. Ok, so I just went down to my local Lexus dealer and got myself a 3 year warranty for £1175, which I thought was good given my HUGE inexperience with motors. However, I have a few niggles I want to iron out and would be grateful for any help. So: 1.) I want to fit a lip spoiler, the one without the headlight to my 03 Is200se. Thing is the dealer today says its a stick on and after many searches on this topic I see it can also be bolted on. What is the proper/best method? Where can I get a salvage part in the dark metallic blue (paint code 8N8)? The quotes for new a frankly outrageous...nearly £400 fitted/painted! 2.) Is the navigator maps, latest versions, tied to one car only? Can I not buy it 2nd hand? Again its £150 for the cd....I do actually like the lex navigator compared to the tomtom as its nicely integrated. Thanks for all suggestions. I will post a few pics in due course. Cheers, emissary
  13. Thanks guys (gals too), Been driving around for the last 3 days now and am enjoying the silence! I now have a new pet project to pimp and throw money at. Viva Lexus!!!
  14. Hi All, Now the proud owner of an IS200SE and am looking forward to learning all I can about this car...salutations to all!!! Cheers, emissary
