  1. Good afternoon Craig. I have an LS460 which also suffers with the wind noise around the window area. I didn't bother with the Jim Craney fix. I discovered that if I just hit the window down switch for a fraction of a second so it lowers the window about 1/32" the wind noise disappears. I have done this since I bought the car 3 1/2 years ago and no rain or other water, including from my pressure washer, has ever got into the car. Give it a go and let us know how you get on. Regards. Steve.
  2. Hello Guys. My car has done 80000 miles so maybe it was the original sensor. It's a bit strange that 4 wheels still have good batteries and 1 was bad. Maybe the previous owner replaced the sensors on the 4 wheels on the car but never changed the one in the spare. Take care. Steve.
  3. Good morning Guys. I thought I would just give a quick update on this thread. My scheduled time off from work got cancelled and the sensor was failing to register at all on the system so I just went to my local tyre and exhaust place and asked if they could fix it for me. They checked all the batteries in all the tyres with some bit of witchcraft and established that four of the five batteries were still "In the green" but the one which stopped working "Wasn't even showing up in the red". They replaced the offending sensor and now the car is back to normal. The total cost was £80 which, although is a chunk of change, is not too bad. Happy days. Take care. Steve.
  4. Good morning all. I was delivering in Great Massingham in Norfolk on 15/02 and saw a nice silver LS430 parked outside the Dabbling Duck pub around 0530. Just wondered if it was anyone from the LOC? Have a good day. Steve.
  5. Thanks for your replies guys. I was leaning more towards the low battery theory myself but it is nice to hear it from someone else too. I am a bit annoyed it has happened after having the new tyres fitted as now I will have to pay someone to remove the tyre so I can get to the valve when it has only been on a couple of weeks. I am considering just fitting the spare and, after accessing the dodgy sensor, just trying to replace the battery within it. I have seen a video on YouTube and it looks fairly straight forward. My thinking is that if it all goes horribly wrong then I will just have to buy a new sensor anyway. I have a bit of time off work in February, so if I can wait until then the car can be parked up for a few days for me to take my time with the job. Thanks for your advice. Merry Christmas to you all. Steve.
  6. Good afternoon to you all. I hope you are all ready (or nearly ready) for Christmas. A couple of weeks ago I had two new tyres fitted to the front of my 2007 LS460. Before I had the tyres fitted the TPMS system would display the tyre pressures within a few minutes of stating the car, most of the time it was just a few seconds. About three or four days after having the new tyres I noticed one of the sensors was taking a long time to display the pressure. It has taken up to 15 minutes to register the pressure. Once the pressure has been registered it seems to react at the same rate as the other sensors i.e. pressure increasing as the tyres warm up and decreasing as they cool. If I turn off the car and leave it for a few minutes and then restart it then the offending sensor reacts within a few seconds, just like all the others. The sensor seems to register slower the colder the outside temperature is. My question is Do you think it is just the battery in the sensor going flat or do you think it might have been damaged while the new tyres were being fitted? Regards. Steve.
  7. Very much in the same vein as your choice.
  8. Hi Stephen. I know what you mean about her voice, I guess that is the X Factor. As far as getting the image in the post all I dd is open the box on LOC as if you were going to write a post. Open up YouTube in a separate tab and select the video you want to post. Highlight and Copy the link in the address bar from YouTube. Go back yo the LOC site and click in the dialog box as if you were going to write text. Paste your YouTube link. You should get the link displayed as text for as few seconds and then it should turn into the picture like you see on YouTube. I hope this works for you.
  9. Hi Stephen. I recently cleaned up the headlights on my 460. They looked in a similar state to yours, not too bad but noticeably dull. I took ages deciding which kit to buy to do the job and finally went for the 3M kit which cost about £20. It was an easy job to do if you follow the instructions in the kit. I will admit I was a bit nervous of starting as, if it all went horribly wrong, a new light assembly is about £1200. Anyway, it turned out OK in the end. I was a bit disappointed there was no UV sealer in the kit but there didn't seem to be any kit available that included the UV sealer. I bought a separate UV sealer made by Turtle Wax which cost about £6. The job took about an hour and a half to do both sides and then a further hour and a half to clean the car afterwards as it is a very messy job. I used a battery drill rather than a mains powered one as I used lots of water on the sanding discs and I thought it would be safer. Anyway, here are some before, during and after photos as well as the products I used. Take care. Steve.
  10. Hello James. I no longer have my LS400 DHP but I do remember when I bought it (many years ago) with 130,000 miles on it the front tyres rubbed on the inner arches at full lock. I just assumed the front springs were a bit tired and had sagged. The car handled fine and went through several MOT tests with no mention of the front springs. I cured the problem by changing tyre size from 245 down to 235, the very slight difference in tyre profile height was enough to stop the rubbing. Regards. Steve.
  11. Hello again Paul. The garage I use is Charlie's Service Station in Terrington St Clement. They are a small family run operation and do a great job. Unlike many places they will let you supply your own parts (new or used) and fit them for you. They also don't mind repairing rather than replacing parts where possible to keep costs down. I have had a couple of times where I have needed work done in a hurry and despite them being busy they have squeezed me in and got me back on the road within 24 hours. My Lexus is 16 years old now so well out of warranty so I have no problem not using a Lexus dealer to service and repair my car. Take care. Steve.
  12. Hello Paul. I live fairly close to King's Lynn and I can tell you the dealer has been open for, at least, a couple of years. I had no idea it was there until one day while I was walking around the gardening section of one of the DIY stores I looked up and saw the Lexus sign. I have never used them for servicing (I have a local indy that has looked after my Lex for almost 14 years) or parts (I use Lexus Parts Direct) so I can't comment on what they are like as a dealer or service point. Sorry I can't be more help. Steve.
  13. Hello Max. I have an LS460 and do quite well for MPG. This is one of my better attempts but I can regularly get over 500 miles per tank.
  14. Hello Guys. With regard to larger vehicles being close to the 3.5T weight limit I found this warning in the door frame of my LS460. As far as I know, the Tachograph would only have to be fitted and used if the vehicle was used for commercial reasons. If you have the entitlement to drive up to 7.5T on your driving licence you don't need to use a Tachograph for personal use, for example towing a caravan while on holiday. However, if someone paid you to drive the car while towing their caravan you would need to use a Tachograph if the car and caravan exceeded 3.5T. Steve.
  15. While out and about doing my deliveries of fruit and veg today I saw a lovely looking dark coloured SC430. It was 0910 along the road which leads away from Brancaster up the hill towards Docking. Just wondering whether it was anyone from the LOC?
  16. Hello guys. I wish I hadn't got involved in this thread. I posted on Wednesday about some poor guy that ended up on the back of two recovery trucks only to find my own LS460 on the back of a truck on Friday evening! As you can probably see in the picture the rear suspension has collapsed. Not as serious as I first thought though, all it turned out to be was a tiny link bar attached to one of the rear height sensors had broken. My beloved LS is now back on the road again.
  17. I saw a Tesla of some type on the back of a recovery truck last year. Nothing too unusual about that but the truck with the Tesla on it was on the back of another recovery truck!
  18. I think I am quite lucky as I live out in the middle of nowhere quite close to a live firing range so we get all sorts flying overhead. I sometimes wonder if they use our house as some kind of waypoint. Back in August the Apaches were doing night training on the range. We were laying in bed listening to the guns until almost midnight! Here is a selection of what's been over in the last 12 months or so.
  19. Hi Guys. I came home from a hard day at work a few weeks ago and was pottering around in the house when I heard something very distinctive outside. I rushed out armed with my camera to find a P51-Mustang flying round and round my house doing rolls and dives. I took a few stills of him and then I thought that I couldn't miss the opportunity to save that sound for posterity so I got out my phone and took some video too. I only just caught him on video as he left almost as soon as I started filming him.
  20. Hello Zak. I used to have a DHP LS400 and I had the same size tyres as Messi quoted. Some people change to the 235 size as they are so much cheaper. Steve.
  21. Hello Guys. I just wanted to point out that the brake components are from Goodridge, not BF Goodridge. I think the OP is confusing BF Goodrich, a tyre manufacturing company, with Goodridge. I thought I would post to save any confusion if anyone was trying to order parts and not finding what they wanted from the manufacturer they were looking at. I hope the OP doesn't take offense at this post. Steve.
  22. Hello James. I am so glad you didn't decide this in October last year. I decided to change from an LS400 with 265000 miles on it to an LS460. I found one in the last week of October for £8950 with a full service history, most of it from Lexus, with only 42000 miles on it. I am really happy with it, although I was really quite sad when I finally sold the LS400 and I watched someone else drive away in the car I had owned and loved for the last 12 years. Just to clarify... No, I don't want to sell it. Steve.
