  1. I have found Gtechniq windscreen treatment to be very good and you hardly have to use the wipers as it beads the rain off and lasts a very long time.
  2. I have not put it up anywhere else for sale yet so the price may increase elsewhere!
  3. Well I'm in Saxon Street so right next to Cheveley! Very difficult to price these up.
  4. This also comes with Akobono rear brake pads ready for when the originals wear out!
  5. It's Green as in my profile picture.
  6. Retiring this year and bought a Skoda Superb L&K diesel as plan on doing more miles and need something that will do good mpg. It's not as comfortable as the Lexus even with adaptive suspension set on Comfort but compromises had to be made. I tried all Toyota and Lexus within my price range but they all rode on the stiffer side of what I wanted. I have had lots of great advice on this forum and have enjoyed my nine years ownership of one of the best built cars ever to come off a production line and at 227,000 miles it's just run in! Up for sale now here.
  7. For sale: Lexus LS 400 1997 227,000 miles. I am retiring later this year and plan to do a lot more miles so I have bought a diesel Skoda Superb that will do quite a few more mpg's. Not as comfortable as the LS 400 even with Adaptive suspension set on Comfort!! Item Condition: Good. Price and price conditions: £3000 ono Extra Info: Full Lexus Service history up to 162,000 miles then independent at 172,000 miles, Cambelt and service at 183,000 miles. Every year after serviced by myself mainly with Amsoil Signature Series synthetic and filter most recent 225,860 (2023/11). Condenser replaced 2017 (196,000 miles) and a/c pipe attached to Filter/dryer (replaced) recharge. Fuel filter 216,100 (2021). Diff oil 196,000 miles and 225,910 miles. Front ball joints 214,000 miles. Front upper suspension arms 214,000 miles. Front lower arm bushes 217,000 miles. Rear arms 217,000 miles. 2021 Rear inner arms and camber bolts etc. EGR pipe replaced 2012. Exhaust V that fails welded about 6 years ago and still looking good Refurbished steering pump about 3 years ago and o ring on reservoir replaced last year. Alternator replaced about two years ago. Failed MOT last year on emissions but passed after had catalytic converter welded where leaking and now the engine ticks over at 600rpm and is quiet again! Boot seal fitted last year. So nearly all the stuff that goes wrong with these has been done. A/C works perfectly CD player still plays and radio. Has had a respray on roof and pillars about 4 years ago. Now has peeling topcoat on rear wings (light bubbling rust on upper) and back doors. Drivers seat needs recovering has sheepskin cover on for now. Interior other than drivers seat is in very good nick. Up and down on Steering works but not telescopic. Right rear boot needs slight reshape where i accidentally shut it on something hard. 8. Ended up buying a Skoda Superb with DCC which helps with the comfort. It's no Lexus/Toyota but it was a matter of compromise.
  9. A truly marvellous car that I would one day love to own.
  10. Well I test drove the GS300h and I must say it's a lovely car the CVT gearbox is so much quieter on this compared to the Corolla/Camry, proper soundproofing I think. Had it ridden a bit softer I would have bought it but again when I got back into the LS 400 I realised how comfortable a car it was especially it being 27 years old. Tried out a modern Skoda Superb and that was a little firm for me so I will try that car with DCC fitted and if that doesn't do it for me I shall keep the LS 400! Thanks for the input and enjoy your cars! I think the GS300h with adaptive suspension with a comfort mode would have been perfect!
  11. Is there much of a difference between the updated model and the older in ride/comfort? Do the 18inch wheels make that much of a difference? How does the Premier ride pre update? Not any pre 31st March 2017 updated cars for sale as I guess people holding onto them for the very low road tax.
  12. Have a budget of roughly £20,000 and prefer the updated 2016 on.
  13. I have an LS 400 but want to move into the modern Lexus world, so I am looking for a comfortable drive and ride above all else as it's what I have become accustomed too! Tried a Toyota Corolla and that was too firm and jiggly a ride so then tried a Toyota Camry and whilst that was better it was still a bit too firm for me. Having tested them both and then getting back into my LS 400 I realised how smooth a ride it still was! So now looking to test drive A GS 300H I did travel down to Lexus Hatfield on Thursday morning to test a Executive version but when I got there was told one of the wheels had been taken off and sent for a refurb. To say I was mad would be an understatement and not what I expect from a Lexus dealership! I must say it was a lovely looking car and even more so in the flesh, so now waiting for them to tell me when it's ready for another go. I would not bother with them but there are not that many GS 300's about and I really want 17 inch wheels on, as again it's all about comfort for me. I suppose I could get a Luxury and swap out the wheels as I think the only difference between them seems to be slightly thinner rear discs on the Luxury. Advice is always welcome and driver experience on the ride. Thanks in anticipation.
  14. A Volvo driver hit my wing mirror and broke it (mounting inside broke also) this morning must have been trying to avoid a pothole or a squirrel or something, can't prove it's their fault so going to buy secondhand. I'm guessing these are 1994-1997 and the later wing mirrors won't fit?
  15. Had the welding done on the exhaust and the largest leaks were on the back of the catalytic converters where the heat shields join. Car is back to it's very quiet old self again! All for £72.
  16. Passed the MOT today with 0% Carbon monoxide on Natural and Fast idle. Probably helped by Wynns catalytic and lambda cleaner and some of their emissions cleaner also on 3/4 of a tank of Esso Power. I shall still get exhaust welding done as any leaks aren't good!
  17. Thanks for your advice John. Unfortunately if it is the Catalytic converter I can't get one as they are discontinued and there are no pattern ones. The problem is I think from around 95-97 The cats were bolted on to the downpipes but at the rear it wasn't bolted on as was the norm, it had the pipe welded on!
  18. I have bought lots from Amayama and always the genuine parts and never had a complaint especially as has been mentioned they are around 50% cheaper!
  19. Did this today as it needs doing every 27,000 miles. One of those things that gets forgotten.
  20. Well I had a free exhaust check at Kwik Fit and got told one thing and then another when I went back later, so a waste of time. Went to a specialist exhaust place and they found slight leaks around both upstream oxygen sensor mountings and a leak on the drivers side catalytic converter and will get them welded on the 24th November. Hopefully that is where the problem is! Had another fail on the emissions but it was much closer to a pass.
  21. Thermostat was replaced about 22 months ago when I had cam belt and waterpump etc. done. Coolant flush just after as they hadn't replaced all of the coolant with new. It does take a while to warm up but it always has. Booked a free exhaust check and emissions test at Kwik Fit before taking it back to the MOT garage for a retest on the emissions. It will be interesting what the readings are at Kwik Fit or if there are any exhaust leaks which could throw off the emissions readings. I have added Catalytic and Lambda cleaner to the tank and will give it a good run before.
  22. It actually took ten minutes to come down to a normal tickover this morning just starting it and letting it warm up at a standstill.
