Hi thanks for the replys the other day engine cut out again so called the AA the guy was ub able to fix the problem engine would fire but not run the code was 1302 i think which indicates a problem with number 5 ingnition curcuit after leaving car to cool down for about hour and a half still would not start and run. He could not tow me home as his tow gear fowled on bumber so left car and returned next day and car started first time. since then i changed coil pack number 5 which was a new one fitted a year ago cheched all elctric connections and relays making sure all were sound cleaned throttle body since then problem has no reoccured i hope that i have now cured the problem but not yet driven the car any real distance. if the problem does come back think i will fit a second hand throlle body if i can get hold of one for the right price.

my post has been on the site for a while but no replys please if any has got any ideas i would be greatful for your thoughts. I went to lexus to day they wanted me to book the car in for a dianostic for £80 and seemed to thinhk that it may be the mass air flow sencor i did enquire how much a replacement throttle bode would be out of curiosity £1000 the answer.

Hi everyone I have a problem with my 1S200 the other day the engine management light came on and the engine cut out I could turn it over and it firers but cuts out stright away. After letting it cool down its OK this problem hasnt happened again until today I checked the codes and it referes to a misfire on cylinder 5 but I havent got a missfire I think its a problem with the throtte body going by what Ive read on the net. Has anybody got any idea if im right and would replacing the throtle cure the problem Im thinking that the fault is in the magnetic clutch on the throttle body and if i replaced the throttle body does this part come with the throttle body or a seperate part. My other question is does anyone have a repalacement throttle body in good order for sale. Any advice owould be greatley apperacited thanks

Thanks for the reply mate ill check all the fuses as you suggest but i not dont know the location of all 3 fuse boxes havent needed to know until now. Dont think its going to be as simple as just a blown fuse other members seem to have had the same problem but no one has posted the solution ie is there a fix or have i got to replace the whole unit and what would be the cheepest option ?. Dont know if it makes any differance but the model i have is the one with the bottom loading CD player i read on hear there are 2 modles.

Can anyone help i have lost FM reception in my Is200 I went to a car wash and removed the roof airial and when refitted i have no FM reception. I have bnought a new airial thinking i damaged the original but still no reception. Surely i cound have damaged the radio just by removing the airail. Have looked on the foums and others have had the same problem but no one seems to have found a solution and posted the fix.The AM still works but not that good but not sure if it ever was plus cd and tape all ok PLEASE can somebody help

Sorry for the delay with the up date mechanic came round he told me that after checking the injectors that no 2 was faulty he said that when the engine was hot he tested across the pins with a multimeter in the injector once the plug was removed it showed no resentance unlike all the others so concluded that the injector was the problem. So bought a new injector £170 at main dealer and had it fitted so far the seems to have cured the problem and engine is running like a dream. Hope my tales of woe will help others with the same problem thanks to all how have commented and given advice

Hi just another up date iv'e given up trying to sort this missfire myself i got this mobile mechanic coming round friday and for £40 he reconds he can diagnose exactly what component is causing the problem plus hes got some fancy kit for testing/cleaning the injectors if nesessuary, will let you all know how he get on.

what do you suggest a new injector or just try to clean? is it a big job to change the injector

Thanks for the technicail suff and advice i've moved the coil packs to different cylinders but still the same missfire cylinder 2 but i've also got another code now as well PO171 which means system to lean. correct me if im wrong but could this possably indicate that the injector on cylinder 2 is the problem. If there was a problem with any senors / components controlling fuel, air or tempeture surley the miss fire would not be confined to one cylinder. Only a guess again has anyone got any thoughts or can offer further guidence thanks to all who have already offered advice

Thanks for the reply i changed the second coil pack from the front of the engine i'm thinking that it may be a faulty new coil pack but probley wishfull thinking but will try any way. I'm also thinking it may have something to do with the Mass airflow sensor because it only missfirers when the engine is warmed up or fuel problems like an injector failing ? but to be honest im only guessing.

just another update went out and started car seemed fine but when warmed up thats when missfire returns also has engine management light flash on and off a few times checked OBD and gives code PO302 same as before. It seems the misfire only happens when the engine is warmwd up can any one shed some light on what could be wrong please any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated

missfire update well parts arrived fitted new plugs air filter and new coil cylinder 2 started up ok so disconnected battery to reset ECU to claer codes ran engine for few minutes then checked for fault codes none shown. Drove car for 10 minutes to warm up then engine seems realy lumpy not smooth at all but no engine malfunction light on. ive noticed that the MPG gauge doesn't seem to be working properly. lifted the bonnet and can hear slight ticking noise coming from air intake block where accelerator cable fits dont know whats its called. Checked that all cables, pipes and electric plugs are still connected and they are. car seem worse than before i haven't go a clue why getting dark now so tomorrow thinking might put old plugs back in thinking i bought the wrong plugs ? the ones i 've got are Denso SK20R11 is this right. Cant understand why OBD isnt showing no faults because there is oboviously is Help

hi all just to update OBD tool arived today so check car the codes given were PO302 and PO302 P according to the manual that came with the tool cylinder 2 has a misfire but un sure what the 'P' stands for on thesecond code i'm guessing it means plug or pending any ideals. Will fit new set of plugs and air filter when they arrive. I've also ordered 2 coils as this seems the most common fault ill replace the coil on cylinder 2 and keep 1 as a spare hope this cures the problem

Thanks for the responce ive bought a diagnosit code reader, a set of plugs and new air filter as they look like they could do with replaceing. Ill let you know how i get on
