  1. I will check the earth connections. i have previously turned off boot lights. Glove box lights; not tried that. I would expect a flat battery every morning if it was a light permanently on though. I have read, but not yet tried, inserting a bulb between battery and earth and pulling fuses one by one.
  2. Sorry to necro an old thread. I have a IS220d (2006) and I am also suffering the 'random' dead battery. The battery is less than a year old. The RAC came out and it appears both battery and alternator are functioning as should. He did measure the current being drawn when 'off' and it was pulling .8 amps, he ventured that it should be nearer .5 amps. However I am no nearer establishing the cause. The only 'after market' add-on is a towbar with single socket for a trailer. There is an inline fuse visble running behind the battery that RAC bloke says is non-standard, who am I to argue? Will removing the fuse assist - if the problem exists there? Any help appreciated - I'll check the screw issue above too. Mick
  3. While my IS220D was having its engine rebuilt I requested the pollen filter to be changed as it's at least two years old. I had a call from our dealer who stated that the filter housing has been super glued. Any suggestions about how I may solve this issue, the dealer would want to remove the heater unit to replace the whole heater and this could prove costly. If you need any additional info let me know. I haven't examined the housing yet as it's dark. regards LQA
  4. Mine has done 110,800 miles and has full Lexus history until Sept 2009 and a service history since then. They never asked to see my history.
  5. Well took my '06 IS220D to Lexus Wolverhampton yesterday and they have confirmed carbon build up on pistons and the work will be covered under warranty. Not too sure how this equates with heating issue but I guess the head gasket will be replaced. Have a courtesy car CT200 hybrid, which is nice, got to find a dog cage for the boot now. Small price to pay I guess.
  6. I have the same problem, my mileage is 110750, I am worried that I will not be able to get it into a dealer before I hit 111,000 miles, with the Xmas hols et al, and Lexus Wolverhampton aren't answering their phones today. How rigid is the mileage?
  7. Speedometers will err on the high side. I believe they are not permitted to read lower than actual speed in the interests of safety. SatNavs will be more accurate but there are caveats in that ultimately it is defined by the accuracy of the satnavs software amongst other things. In order to get the most accurate reading you must drive on a level road in straight line for as long as possible at a constant speed. GPS satellite transmit a signal every 30 seconds which is why sometimes satnavs show you going 'offroad' when you make a sudden detour. There's more to it than that but you get the gist.
  8. I bought my 06 IS220D with 88,000 miles on the clock and FSH. Twelve months later - still running fine. LQA Not these days, as you say it's got a full lexus history, nothing to worry about All the recalls that that model would have had - check the vehicle no. on Lexus website Check aircon's nice and icy TBH, everything should just work if you're buying approved pre-owned If approved pre-owned from Lexus 14-15 If an indie dealer, 12-14 Private sale, around the 12.5 mark Hi, I purchased a 2006 IS220D SE last year with 68,000 on the clock. I was a little worried about the mileage but the car came with full service history and a years warranty from the dealer. Over a further 15,000 miles the car has performed flawlessly and I am very pleased with the purchase. Out of interest though, how do you check the history of your vehicle on the Lexus website? Have looked at the owners area and cannot find anywhere to enter a vehicle number.
  9. I just went through Sky Insurance, after they launched a competition on here (timing is everything), they were the cheapest, they gave discount for being in the LOC after requesting my username, (wife as main, me as second, icl. 3rd party trailer cover) £250 excess.
  10. Quality reply. Spot on. I'll kick myself if it's in the manual. Thank you. Holiday is back on...
  11. The switch for my fuel cover has stopped working. I have checked the fuse and that looks fine. I had a towbar fitted today, I guess this may be the cause. Trouble is fuel is low, was due to go camping tomorrow (Thursday), I have to be very conservative as to where I drive unless I can fill her up. Is there a manual release for the cover? Thank you for reading. Mick
  12. I had the same problem a week ago. Basically the disc started rattling in the drive and any attempt to navigate around the menu resulted in 'greyed' out menu items - if it was anything to do with the SatNav. I tried the top left bottom left scenario without luck , but I did find the diagnostics screen. I eventually found a thread on here on how to remove the Satnav unit, but when I went back to the car and had 'one last try' the eject button was displayed. I managed to eject and replace the disk. I don't know why it suddenly displayed. LQA
  13. This may have been answered already somewhere, but as a new owner of a Lexus do the new maps have full post code search, I have an 06 plate and partial post code is a pain after years of tom tom usage
