  1. Didn't know batteries were involved (where are they) . I'll look on the forum and I have a basic code reader, £10 one, so may try it. Thanks.
  2. Put my "new " 55 reg GS300 on the road for the first time on Monday and been swearing at it since Thursday when the TPMS light came on and up to now haven't found a solution. Tried the reset a few times but no joy. Jim
  3. I've put the recently bought 55 reg GS300 on the road at the start of the month. On Thursday about an hour into our away day the TPMS light came on. I googled/youtubed and there was varied answers so I went to my local tyre fitters and they checked the pressures, all 28 psi so put 32 psi in. I went home and pressed the reset button hidden under the dash (found it using a mirror, no bendy backs for me). Applied the parking brake pressed the start button without pressing the foot brake to bring up the dash lights, pressed and held the reset button till the light flashed slowly 3 times and released it but no joy. There was no indication on the screen and I thought there would be. I've tried a few times and drove about 5 miles but still no joy. Should there be any info showing on the screen or any other methods to switch off the tyre light. I feel I'm missing something or not going through the correct procedure. 4 same make tyres (Landsail) on the car and in very good condition. If there's a fault with a sensor does he tyre have to be removed to replace or can the guts be taken out and replaced. Thanks. Jim
  4. Tried the "dodgy disc" in the PC and it looks like a show room catalogue of all Lexus models from about 2007/08 but no music or commentary . That clears that up.
  5. Just had a brainwave or was it a brain storm!!!. I tried the "dodgy disc"in my HDD home recorder on HDD setting and it didn't work so tried DVD setting and up came 83 Jpeg's on what looks like a Lexus promotional CD with the whole range from Is up to SC. The date on the disc is 2006 which fits nicely with the face lift LS430 with 5 spoke alloys shown on the disc. I wonder if these were part of the new car package for the new owner.
  6. Thanks for that.. It's well camouflaged though. I found nothing in the index of the manual S/N DVD wise but it is in the manual on pages 10 &11. Open the glove box lid, push "MENU" button, touch "MAP DVD" switch and touch "DVD" switch in bottom left hand corner of the screen. I said in an earlier post I bought a full wallet of manuals in excellent nick including the Sat/Nav disc but it doesn't work. The disc with the car is fine. The pic on the left is my disc and it's the other one which won't play. The Europe disc is marked.....86271 53060, 86271 60V660 2005/2006 Ver 1. The white Lexus one V11.0 04/2006. Any thoughts on that before I inform the ebay seller.
  7. Washed, polished, hoovered, valeted and I'm pleased with the result. Body and black trim are very good, full unused tool kit and engine covers armor all'ed and all plastic fasteners renewed as they were all broken and loose. 100,000 miles, 12 stamps in the book, 4 x nearly new same make tyres and discs and pads. I rang the garage who last stamped the service book for any additional info and it transpires that the mechanic owned the car for 18 months, looked after it and serviced it and said there's nowt wrong with it and everything on it worked and I've got a great car there. He said he only sold it as he and wife his down sized to a bungalow and didn't have the room for their cars so put it in to Honda and bought a smaller car. Peace of mind and I was more than pleased when I heard that. I haven't used it yet so will keep you posted on it's progress.
  8. I'll have to get a torch as I've been in there and checked the pollen filter which was very clean. They're generally ignored and dirty. There wasn't any manuals with the car so I bought a complete set, 7 manuals /booklets and sat/nav disc in its sleeve, in the Lexus wallet in lovely nick. I want to try the S/N disc before I leave feed back for the seller.
  9. I've just bought a 55 reg. GS300 and can't find anything in both manuals as to the location of Sat/Nav player. There's something in the boot R/H side under the carpet. I'll have a closer look tomorrow as I'm busy sussing, snagging and detailing it before I put it on the road. Anyone help me please
  10. I've ran this request on both GS300 and LS400 sites and with lots of help from LOC members I've downloaded the manual but I will be ordering one from the bay as I like a proper book. Thanks
  11. Thanks for all the info and links with excellent road test reports and I've downloaded the manual which took seconds (once I'd found the correct model year). I'll buy one of the ones off the bay as I do like the convenience of a proper book but until then I'm not stuck scratching my head.
  12. Still looking for the owners/sat.nav manuals for my 55 reg GS300. I was hoping someone on the LOC had a set. May have to resort to the bay as there's two sets on there £35 & £45 from UK sellers. Thanks for your interest.
  13. Thanks for all your replies. I'm still looking for the owners/sat.nav manuals if anyone can help. I may have to resort to the bay, there's two sets on there £35 & £45 in the UK. I don't do foreign lands.
  14. Morning Acre, I've been keeping up with your comments on your Celsior. At the moment my priority is getting the owners manuals including Sat/Nav instructions which were not with the car but fully stamped service is present..
  15. I was on here some years ago when I had an "S" reg GS300 and then a face lift "51" GS300 with a MK3 LS400 before these and an LS430 afterwards but been Lexusless for 3/4 years. I've fancied a face lift 2005 for a long time, very nice dash and interior layout with everything a similar BMW doesn't have, but nothing nice has come up for sale in my neck of the woods. It's a "55" reg GS300 SE, silver, black trim, 100000 miles, FSH, not all Lexus but really liked the test drive so I bought it. I'm running around in a MB S280 "03" reg, 72000 miles, FSH and in excellent nick so I'll suss out and do a snagging list on the GS, clean, polish and detail it before I put it on the road and post some pictures. Wanted. Anyone got the owners and sat/nav manuals which are missing from this car. Thank you. Jim
  16. I've been on LOC for a number of years now but not owned a Lexus for about 3/4 years and sorry to disappoint but I've bought an 05 GS300 SE as I've fancied one for some time. Really like the dash layout and standard kit which puts the BMW 5 series to shame but sorry to see the "W" reg E39 go after 4 years as it was a great car in lovely nick. I bought an 03 MB S280 in January, again lovely nick 72000 miles face lift model FSH which I'm quite enjoying. I'll still watch this page but it's time to inform the GS site now of my car. Jim
  17. It may well be worth looking at a passenger seat as the squabs may be interchangeable and just unbolt from the frame.

  19. There's a radio/audio repairer up our way who takes out the security chip ( where possible) to ready the radio to work without the code. Jim Hall Wrekenton Gateshead 01914872995. I've got a couple of MK2 GS300 head units which may have the same audio bits as the LS. If that was the case then it's only a matter of unscrewing the unit from the facia.
  20. The refrigerant has lubricant and dye in it so it lubes the system and all the working bits and spills the dye when it leaks and can be seen with an ultra violet light.
  21. That's the sort of problems you can cope with. Thoughts of scrapping it I'll bet😉
  22. Lots of owners never entered a code from new. Usually the code is the last 3 digits of the vin. This worked for me when I had a MK3 LS400.
  23. https://s778.photobucket.com/user/39buss/media/ACUnion001_2.jpg.html http://s778.photobucket.com/user/39buss/media/ACUnion002.jpg.html This is what the seals and unions look like after years of use. Be very very careful loosening the unions as they weld themselves to the union block ( dissimilar metals, electrolytic reaction )
