  1. Sorry about being late to the conversation, same thing happened to me, looks like the only place garages can get the part from is Lexus. No point shopping around it will be around £600. For the record, I took mine to a local garage and he welded it for me, said that this the second he has done (guess they just reach an age). The weld was straightforward (so he said) and I have done 30k miles in six months and passed an MOT 6 weeks ago. I am not going to say it will last forever but £30 is not a bad remedy when the option is to buy a new system that may not work and end up cluttering your garage or back on e-bay. You may struggle to get a chain type garage to do it as they tend not to be allowed to weld as they can not get their work easily covered by corporate insurance. Finding an old-boy is your best bet.
  2. I have just been out to check, was difficult to see if it was spinning as it is totally smooth. I found a small stick and held it against it and found it to be turning when idling.
  3. FOUND IT!!!! Was fooled by a Lexus diagram showing it next to the water pump.. To find it, follow your dipstick down. I will have a go this weekend at the coolant change.
  4. Just looking over some old posts and I got some noise (like I was going over some cobble stones) when driving on flat even road. Started to worry as my ID220D has done over 166666 miles and was starting to think it was coming end of life. Took it to a garage and they checked all the struts, the hub and the joints. Looked like it was going to start hosing money on replacing things that it 'may' by. As previous poster said, the problem was a loose bolt in the break calliper. It got tightened up and everything fine. Looks like she has some life left in her yet!
  5. Just quck request for help, I have been doing oil and filter changes for the next few years and have also been cleaning out the EGR every 20k miles to prevent the reoccurring Check VSC problem. Thinking about other things that need to be changed is the Coolant. So, understand how it needs to be done, checked an online resource and it says that I need to use the drain c0ck on the bottom right of the radiator (fine) and also a drain c0ck on the engine block (rumoured to be just below the coolant reservoir). The engine drain c0ck appears to be a in a very award place, not helped by the fact that I don't actually know what it looks like, can someone help me? To help you help me... I have found a number pictures of engines removed. Please could you play a game of find the c0ck and point it out to me? Any help is much appreciated. I will happily upload a how-2 guide if successful!
  6. I have been having the same problem (53 plate IS200), i have been losing the keys at a steady rate to the point where my last remaining key was washed and only works some of the time. I have been buying spares off ebay and now have quite a collection of uncut blades. Got a local shop to cut one (works in the ignition but not the doors) and tried to program it in using the various steps. Tried for ages with the transponder from ejaz0### from ebay with no luck. Tried another transponder from another supplier and have got half of the way there. Take a look at the transponder, once you open the case, the correct ones need a scredriver to reveal the battery, and use a 1616 battery. If it says 'Valeo', probably will not work. By half of the way, I mean, I can now get the car started but no luck with the remote programming. My progress is as follows: 1. Close and lock all doors. Unlock and open drivers door. DONE 2. Put key into ignition and remove. Do not turn it on. DONE - THIS IS THE MASTER KEY.. 3. Using the electric lock switch. Lock and unlock 5 times. (Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock) DONE 4. Close and open drivers door. -DONE 5. Using the electric lock switch. Lock and unlock 5 times. (Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock) DONE 6. Put key into ignition. Turn to "ON" , turn off and remove. DONE - THIS SHOULD BE THE MASTER KEY 7. You will see the door locks cycle by themselves. - YES THEY DO!! If the door locks do not cycle (lock and unlock) by themselves then the car isn’t in programming mode and you must start over. 8. On the remote, press and hold the LOCK and the UNLOCK button at the same time for no more than 2 seconds. -NOTHING HAPPENS 9. On the remote, press the LOCK button for no more than 1 second. - NOTHING HAPPENS I have tried standing outside the car, quck presses, slow presses, everything (I think). Give me some ponters, please!!!! Also, a youtube vid would be much appreciated!!
