  2. Could also be caused by A/C not switching on if it is under 4C so not drying the air coming in.
  3. Had to buy the exact same one last year and instead of the Denso I bought a Bosch. Model number LS602, PN 0 258 986 602 -36y. Was a direct replacement. You have to be careful buying non-Lexus sensors as I got caught buying a universal one. It worked fine but would not clear the error code because Lexus are very sensitive about the reported resistance value from the heater. The Bosch one has the correct resistance of 11-13 ohms o the error code will clear. Universal ones tend to be around 7 ohms which the EMC objects to even though it functions correctly. Have put 30K miles on the Bosch and it is running perfectly on an engine with 145K miles.   5. Can answer this one - no they are not all equal. Had one go on my 2002 Mk2 - Bank2 sensor 2. Bought a really cheap one (£17) and whilst the ECM code reader showed it was working perfectly it still threw a code for the heater. Turns out that Lexus GSs are very fussy about heater resistance. The cheap sensor only registered 7 ohms across the heater. Apparently they need around 11 ohms to not throw a code. Changed it for a Bosch one (£70) that met the 11 ohm spec and no more codes. Bank 2, Sensor 2 is the one under the floor so you have to pull the carpet up, just remove the trim and carefully pull it back. It is a really easy job, just be careful lowering the sensor through the hole as the tip should not get knocked. It took longer to put the Bosch plug onto the wires than it did replacing the actual sensor. Hope that helps
  6. Just did a quick calc and that means the exhaust x-section area with your new system is 30% smaller!! So yes would think that will make a difference. Numbers are 3.142 x (25 x 25) = 1963.75sqmm 3.142 x (30 x 30) = 2827.8sqmm
  7. Just a word of warning if you do this. I left my i-Phone in the centre armrest tray the other day and the alarm kept going off. Took i-phone out of car and alarm stopped going off. Not sure if this is just an i-phone issue as I haven't tried it with other phones but you may want to experiment first.
  8. Changed mine by draining out about 2 litres, all you will get from drain plug, and refilling. The ran it for a week and repeated until I had put 10 litres in. Looks nice and clean now and response has improved no end. The old oil was very black. Important to get Toyota fluid and will cost around £100 for 10 litres. Negotiate, I did and got it for trade price, which was about 25% off if I remember right. Did the power steering fluid as well by using a turkey baster to remove as much as possible from reservoir and refilling several times, running for a couple of days between each change, till it looked clean. Took about a litre. These are the best methods if you don't fancy pulling off pipes.
  9. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the third press(and 5 flashes) locks the car but disables the interior sensors - for those people that like to cook their dogs in their car.

  11. At that age I would change the power steering fluid as it is probably past its best. I have been slowly changing mine as the car has done 115k miles and it is making a difference. The simplest way is to use one of the pumps from a soap dispenser and pump out the reservoir, then top up (make sure you use the correct fluid - Dexron III). Run it for a few miles and repeat. Probably will do mine about 8/10 times to get a reasonable replacement of old fluid. The stuff that came out was black, not shiny red so was definitely worth doing. If your car has 120K have you done the same with the gearbox, did mine, much better. Plenty of info on how to do that on the forum.

  13. I have fitted some DRLs to my 2002 GS300 by connecting them off the sidelight feed, but then I have to remember to turn them on/off each time. I would like to connect them to a feed that is only live when the engine is running or secondly to a feed that is live when the ignition is on. Can anybody give me any pointers to a good place in the looms or fuseboxes to get either connection please?
  14. I have a JBL GT2-10B going spare and I was wondering if there was any benefit in swapping out the stock sub for the JBL. I cant seem to find any specs for either the Lexus stereo (sat-nav version, non Mark Levinson) or the the JBL. I am a bit wary about going to all the effort of pulling the back of the car apart only to find this would be a waste of time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA
