  1. The last three tanks of fuel I've been through and I'm currently averaging 25.69 MPG. Despite the slower average speeds due to the heavy snow (another couple of inches last night! ) I've noticed that the engines running almost all of the time - not suprisingly as I've got heat on, seats on and lights on all the time so it's got to be powered somehow! Driving the RX450h in this heavy weather has been quite entertaining - the electronics sort out the traction and although I've tried the 'snow-mode' it hasn't been essential despite the 8" of powder on top of the packed ice recently - there's been a few downhill bits where it's been best to select 'first' and crawl down without the brakes. Overall I'm really pleased with my choice, last year I was driving a tricked-out Hi-lux, I'm not completely convinced that my RX will not get stuck at some point but my RX is a damn sight more comfortable.
  2. My 2010 RX450H-SEi has now passed 11k miles since new, the best recorded figure is 33 MPG - this is done against fuel refilled as opposed to the computer onboard - that device gives me an average of 31.4MPG There is no way on this God's earth that anyone will be able to get anywhere near the manufacturer's figure - without driving 'Miss Daisy!'- we've all been taken in by the hype. Having said that, I still think my car is a fantastic piece of kit and am in no hurry to change it . It's a very capable, comfortable car that isn't that common, for me this makes it worth the extra MPG....if you were that worried about the cost you wouldn't lash out nearly 50k on a car in the first place. I didn't get taken for a test drive, they gave me an RX for the day and said it'll sell itself, which it did. And I too have iPod issues.
  3. I work for a company that supplies and maintains coin-operated Gaming and Amusement equipment, Pool tables and Jukeboxes. The hours are long, the customers can be a pain in the posterior, the rewards are often poor - but I've got a new Lexus Rx450h as my company car! So things aren't all bad I've been in this trade for 31 years and I should have listened to my father and 'got a proper job' - still, I'm on the downhill stretch now and looking forward to retirement within the next 5 to 9 years - if the government dont screw me over (which is more than a possibility)
  4. I've had my RX450SE-I for less than a month (currently 1400 miles on the clock from new) and compared even to the Hi-lux I exchanged for it, seem to be spending an awful lot of time at the fuel pumps - but am actually averaging around 33 mpg based on the computer read out. This is also confirmed by mileage against refills on my business log...(it's my company car - low BIK !) Nowhere near the 'book' figures - but you can do it if you cruise at 60mph...but would you really?
  5. I'm the same - average since new according to computer = 32 mpg - I'm sure that's not correct as I've only just got 850 miles on the clock and have gone through 30 gallons - and that's about 28 mpg. But as Rillo says, it's a luxury motor and it will get better as it's run in...
  6. Hi Mike, Welcome, I'm new on here too and everyone seems very pleasant. Foreign eh? didn't think that Andover was foreign....still part of Britain isn't it :)
  7. Thanks for the continuing welcomes, I must admit that over the years I've been privileged to pick up quite a few brand new cars from dealerships, all company cars - 'run of the mill' stuff so to speak, like Fords, Vauxhall,VW and and Peugeots and all mid or bottom of the range Rep-mobiles. I did splash out on a new BMW 5 series Msport after I had an op' which meant I was no longer lifting and humping gear about. The hand over on that was "here's your keys, have a nice day!" The Lexus experience was by far the best ever....just a shame the wife wasn't there to enjoy it as well! I have noted my interest in the new CT200 and might look at replacing her Auris when it comes out...depending on price though! I didn't get much off the cost of the RX but the part-ex on my Hi-lux more than made up for it...so no complaints over cost but I haven't mentioned it to my accountants yet - they've got to be impressed with it's tax effectiveness...or am I kidding myself?
  8. It seems that I have similar issues with my RX450h and Nokia phones - the Bluetooth connection is fine but contact lists fail. A friend of mine logged his Sony phone and it connected and transfered the contacts immediately - the Nokias just won't do it. Anybody else had this problem and resolved it?
  9. Well I picked it up Thursday afternoon, all very white and shiny, into the hand-over room, then into the air-conditioned glass house at the end of the dealership, shown round the vehicle, shown the controls, they logged my phone on, the iPod in....all very posh - then the doors open and off you go. It now has 700 miles on it and is crapped up to the eyeballs!! I nipped over to Telford, down to Cardiff for the rugby, then over to Aberaeron in Cardigan bay, back through Telford and home - bugger it's thirsty (comparing to my Hi-lux diesel)! Overall though a very nice motor, pleased as punch with my choice.
  10. I'm with trueblue, I have a little sportscar - more of a GT really, Porsche 944 - it's done 42 miles in four years, my 'everyday' cars have been far more comfortable and even quicker!
  11. Thanks for the welcome chaps, Only 'four sleeps' 'til I get my new motor (or is that motors as it's a hybrid?) on Thursday - the morning after we're off to Cardiff for a rugby weekend (free tickets-corporate box!). Then onto Cardigan bay for a couple of nights in that hotel that Rhod Gilbert advertises on the telly (vouchers from my daughter for my 50th) then home by Tuesday evening (to go race my 1/8th RC model off-road buggy ) - via Telford both ways (giving a lift to the in-laws to stay with friends - and won't they be surprised when I turn up with my new wheels, seeing as I haven't told them, they're expecting to squeeze into the wife's Auris T180! It's one of the nicest things in life than having a new car.....it still gives me a buzz. I wish I could do it every six months. A long weekend away to run it in, life can be so sweet...it sure makes up for the early years when all I had was old bangers and rot boxes, working 80 hours a week has finally started to pay off, I'm just hoping my health holds out so I can enjoy it!
  12. Finally gone and done it now, part-exed my '57 plate Hi-lux for a new Rx450h SE-I ! After two years of bouncing around in a very capable off roader - my spine tells me I need a little more comfort in my old age. My new Rx will be going off-road but won't be used for haulage around fields. Are there any meets for Rx owners that are non-damaging?
