  1. Thanks for that, at least now I know I'm not imagining it! Are there any recommendations for a fuel additive that would work well for engine cleaning? It's a 220D btw.
  2. Yes, I have the same problem. 8 seconds for a 1k-2k acceleration in 3rd. I find myself now drving in lower gears. I used to change to 5th over 50mph. Now i wait until +60mph. I don't touch 6th until at least 75mph. The fuel consumption works out a lot better. Get about 3-4mpg better on average.
  3. Hi All, I was driving (2007 IS220D) at about 50mph in 4th gear the other day with the cruise on. I was on a flat stretch so there was no acceleration. The car started to chug suddenly. It was as if it was about to cut out. It lasted about 10 seconds before returning to normal. No warning lights appeared. I am due a 40k service next week. I rang Lexus to see if they had heard of something like this before but they hadn't. Since it first happened I have been very vigilant. I notice that I get the odd "chug" in the same conditions above. Not necessarily the same speed/revs/gear but not accelerating. Also, this does not occur on a cold start. I had been driving for two hours when this happened first of all. Has anyone experienced something similar? On a side note, I am getting a Yaris as a temp car during the service. I just had to laugh! Thanks.
  4. My favourite model ever! Still love the R34 though. It was a long wait to the R35 but well worth it. Enjoy!
  5. Yes, it is possible. In the boot anyway. I couldn't figure out why the handle button wouldn't work. Think it has to be in very close proximity. On a similar note, the fob battery could have been low. I have gone through four batteries in two months. Anyone else having this problem?
  6. I locked the keys in the boot. I had it a week. I couldn't understand why the handle button would not work. From reading the manual, it has to be in very close proximity. Also, I think the battery power of the fob could be a problem. I have had the IS for two months and I'm on my fourth fob battery!
  7. This is driving me up the wall! Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have stupidly dropped a couple of coins in the recess where the cup holder cover (behind the handbrake) slides back into when you open the holder. Everytime I go around a corner they are sliding around and hitting off one another. I am going mad! Does anyone know an easy way to remove the cover? Many thanks in advance.
  8. Some very interesting (mainly negative!) comments here. But, as the saying goes, for every bad experience you have you will tell 10 people, for every good experience you have you will tell 1 person. I have a '07 220D SE but for only two months. I absolutely love the car. I have rattles and the infamous "crack" when the dash heats up. I also have the scratches on the boot lid where it meets the rear bumper. No major issues for me. I had a bad start with the fuel economy getting only 31mpg on a full tank! But since then I have taken it back a notch and I'm getting about 43mpg (530 miles to a tank). I tend to drive on 50mph roads quite a bit so the car is being run at its most efficient speed a lot. I think the comfort of the car is top of its class. I have driven executive A6s, BM5s and Merc Es and I prefer the interior of the Lexus by a mile. I also love the look of the car. That's primarily what drew me to the car originally. Having said all of this, I haven't had any major problems so maybe I should come back in 12 months! I would encourage other readers to post if they have had positive experiences with their 220Ds. It would give a more accurate look to the statistics above.
  9. Hi all, I recently purchased an IS220d and I'm looking to do a fuel filter replacement. Matt, could I please PM you my email address for that workshop manual? I have had quite low mpg even when driving very efficiently. I've cleaned the EGR valve already and I'm thinking of trying this also. Thank you for your help.
