  1. Hi all, I have not been active in this forum for a long time now, but I maybe considering the RX again. Found the following car but it is a high miler, and I was wondering if it belonged to anyone on here. The reg is MJ67XFR with 125k miles with full Lexus history and seems to be tidy, albeit I have not seen it in person yet. If this car belonged to you, please PM me as I have a few questions. Apart from that, what is the general feeling with a well looked after 125k RX with you seasoned owners? Thank you in advance.
  2. Yes and no. Yes because you are technically right. No because some cars no matter hiw you drive it, it just isn't capable of being economical. Like my previous Ford S Max 2.0 turbo (240 bhp). No matter what or how, i could not get more than 27mpg, and overall it averaged 24mpg over 2 years. Hence why i got rid and now a very glad Prius+ owner.
  3. When i had my 2010 RX450H it averaged 31.5MPG overall over 2 years, and i was very happy with that.
  4. Hi all, I had a RX450H up until 2017 before needing to join the MPV brigade and hence forced to part with my beloved RX, now owning a Prius+ and its a great car for anyone with a large family. In the 2 years that I had my RX I have not had any attempts on my cat, but within 1 month of the Prius+'s ownership, I lost the cat to a scum bag whilst parked in a private car park in Croydon. This is definitely a prevalent problem, for when it happened and I called the police, I was told another 2 Prius' were done on that same day. I have since installed a Catloc onto mine at a cost of £250, and with all the talk I've had with the recovery and garages since, it seems to be an effective way to deter these scumbags enough to stop the problem. Of course unless you consistently park your car in isolated and open places, because of course, if given enough time, they would and could steal literally anything.
  5. The problem with multimac is that you lose the versatility of how the car was designed, if you need to have a flexible boot for example, you are screwed? Nothing really beats a ‘designed to be’ 7 seater with 3 isofox across the middle row.
  6. They are good cars, especially in petrol in my opinion. I’ve got the 2.0 240bhp auto and it flys, albeit a little thirsty.
  7. I too had this problem with a 10 reg RX450, and no matter how I tried (and I have tried), I just could not get 3 child seats into the back of one. Hence I’m now a happy owner of a 66reg S Max and have 3 seats comfortably across the middle row.
  8. I suppose with a whole price bracket above a normal Ford, you would expect your doors to thunk. At the end of the day, there is no arguing that you will always get what you pay for, but from personal experience there is a rather fine line between the higher end of a new Ford to a premium brand, which I have to say took me by surprise.
  9. Let's face it, everything that most of us can afford to buy and own are appliances to a need. The ONLY Lexus that I can truly call "exciting" is the LFA, and that is just about as unobtainable as the new Ford GT. Comparing my 2010 RX450h SE-i to my 2016 S Max Titanium Sport with all the possible extras in the brochure, the Ford is much more advanced and drives like a low slung car. The build quality between the cars is similar, in terms of fit and quality of feel. The Lexus has plusher seats and leather, but the Ford is just as comfortable in daily use. If I need to compare a newer Lexus to the Ford then the 2016 GS that I owned for a day felt similar in build, I would say both equally nice inside. As with most manufacturers, Ford CAN make a car that feels premium if you go high enough up the range and willing to pay for the options. Back to the point of the post about infotainment systems in cars and ease of use, I'm saying from experience the Ford Sync 3 trumps both older and newer Lexus systems simply because it's both Apple Car Play and Android Auto ready, I'm controlling a lot of functions with my voice not even having to press a single button. The base system is also completely easy to use.
  10. You are right and Lexus are falling behind. I have just changed from a RX 450h to an S-Max because I now need 7 Seats. The Ford Sync 3 in car system is both Android and Apple Car play ready, and both works and integrated seamlessly. The whole experience is great and very painless indeed. Even if you don't use either, the base system is better in literally every way. I have driven a brand new GS and it's system cannot even come close to the Ford's. I will say the sound quality is better in the Lexus, but the usability is lagging to Ford.
  11. Today as part of my shopping chore, I had to go buy a 5l tin of roof sealant for a DIY project, so in it goes into my boot which was lined with the official bootliner. During the trip back home I had to emergency stop thanks to Mr Audi pulling out, and the tin of sealant tips over and 1/4 of the content emptied onto the boot. If it wasn't for the bootliner and the fact that it had a deep lip on the sides as well, my boot interior and rear seats would have probably been a write off. Even with the liner, the sealant still found a way to end up on the carpet and a little onto the rear of the seats, but they were manageable albeit with a stench of white spirit for now. Needless to say the liner is a write off, but thank the Lord for this product. Going straight back to Lexus to buy another official one, for I can't find a 3rd party one with a deep lip which proves invaluable. Enjoy the hot weather!
  12. This and the Honda Accord forum that I belong to are really quiet forums, testaments to the reliability of these cars. 👍
