  1. I've been struggling to transfer my Galaxy S2's contacts to my GS and decided I must solve it this weekend. It was a bizarre issue as the phone connected fine with the bluetooth but whenever I tried to transfer the contacts it failed. What made it worse is that I couldn't enter any manually either, this is because my phone is PBAP compatible. I have now solved this by phoning the Lexus helpline 0844 499 4551. A very helpful chap suggested that I go into Settings, then Applications, select All Apps (so you see the Android Apps too), then Loggs Provider. I then had to Clear Data. The phone then immediately asked me if I wanted to transfer the Contacts, which I said Yes too, and in a few seconds they all did. Hopefully someone else will google this problem and find this entry. It was a very easy fix but it isn't in the manual and is very hard to find. Thanks,
  2. There were over 650 registered in the UK in 2012. There will be at more this year. I've just bought a GS450h F-Sport demonstrator and that dealer had 5 new GS's waiting for the 13 plate to be registered for customers. Interestingly all but 1 where 250's (3 x F-Sport and 2 x Luxury). The GS300h is due in December this year, 6 months after the IS300h is introduced (they will have identical drive trains). But I agree the car is a very rare sight on UK roads. I see a lot more LS600h's in central London.
  3. LOL, funny to see the same old hybrid myths rolled out here. To be honest, if I didnt live in London I think it would be hard to justify a hybrid. They make most sense here no doubt about it. For that reason I'm glad Lexus are returning the 460 to the UK market next year.
  4. Yes it is. This is the link to the Lexus sales numbers in the UK - http://media.toyota.co.uk/category/corporate/sales-figures/lexus-sales-figures/ The latest numbers are here - http://media.toyota.co.uk/wp-content/files_mf/1349433666LexusSalesFigures2012PassengerVehicles.pdf They have sold 143 + 100 + 64 +24 + 181 = 512 to the end of September.
  5. The real problem with the GS250 for me is the fuel consumption and CO2 numbers. I'm getting comparable figures in my 09 LS600h (22 city, 28 motorway). The GS300h due next year will be the one to watch. It will have the newly developed 2.5liter 4cyl atkinson cycle engine with DS-4 that was just shown in the new LF-CC concept coupe. It launches with the new IS early next year and will be available in the GS up to 6 months later. It should have 220 - 225bhp. It is a more advanced version of the motor in the US/Japan Toyota Camry hybrid and Lexus ES300h. The IS300h is expected to deliver under 100g CO2 but the GS300h is likely to be around the 110g ballpark as it will be a heavier car. Still, it will be very competitive to the 520d for urban drivers (no DPF and NOX issues too). I would expect it will be priced somewhere between the GS250 and the GS450h.
  6. Hi, I have a 2009 LS600hL with approx 65K on the clock. The servicing costs ALL depend when the 60K service is due (when the spark plugs need changing). Obviously there are 8 of them and they are well over £50 each, so you're looking at an extra £500 easy for the 60K service. I bought mine with 58K on the clock and the dealer had just carried out the 60K service and changed the plugs. Consequently when I took out a 3 year service plan it was just £31 a month (I do less than 10K per year). As for fuel consumption. I get 22 to 24mpg on my daily commute from Islington to Chiswick in London. 22mpg cold weather, rising to 24mpg in the summer. On a run up to my parents in the Midlands I usually get 28 to 30mpg. As for comparing the 460 to the 600. There are lots of other little differences. The 600 has the distinctive triple LED headlights which I like. It has a leather dash which is very luxurious. The 600 is also All Wheel Drive. The long wheelbase model is only available in the UK on the 600. Mine is a 5 seat model without the optional Rear Seat Relaxation package (which is more practical. Although from 2010 on there was a 5 seat RSR package available as well.
  7. I recently part exed my GS450h for a LS600hL and dont regret it at all. It is true that there are hardly any short wheelbase cars around, however having previously owned a Porsche 928 I'm having no problems with the width of the car. Its much quieter and smoother than the GS and you ride higher, which I like. Ride quality is much better. Its also easier to get into and out of. The LS is much larger inside, both for the driver and of course passengers. Guests love riding in the back. As for fuel economy, in London I'm averaging about 24mpg when I got about 29mpg in the GS. On the motorway its even closer - about 32 in the LS and 35 in the GS. The longer the trip and warmer the weather the better the fuel economy you get. The engine must first warm up before it will start cutting out and in the current cold weather it may never do so on a short trip. If you're a boy racer you will certainly notice the extra weight (although the GSh is a heavy car too), but the LSh can really pick up her skirts and dash for it when required. You dont have to get a 4 seat model, I deliberatly got a 5 seat car without the rear relaxation package. Some dealers think the 5 seat model is easier to sell and will be worth more as the cars get older. I preferred it as its more flexible and I'll never sit in the back. The biggest difference running cost wise is insurance, the LSh is a insurance group 50 car. My monthly maintenance bill went down because I bought a car with 60K miles on it. The 60K service is very expensive as all spark plugs must be changed. This is the same on the GSh and the LSh so watch out for it. I briefly looked at a 460 but I just couldnt live with the sub 20mpg fuel consumption and sky high road tax. Plus I love the hybrid experience in the city. Toys I love - radar cruise control (although my GS had this as well), heated steering wheel and the Hold function (so when you come to a stop in drive it automatically puts the handbrake on. Just touch the throttle and it releases again. Great for traffic lights.) Final advice - be realistic on price. I looked around alot for mine and built a table of the values. Some are priced well and others not. I was tough on price and got the deal I wanted on the car I wanted in the end.
  8. Pete, Thanks for the reply. I took the plunge as well and bought an LS600hL. I would have been happy with a short wheelbase car but they are quite rare and so far I've no problems parking my long wheelbase car. Though it was a bit touch and go getting her up and down a multi storey car park the other day. Thats just me getting used to the size of her. Like you I'm getting around 28mpg on my regular commute out to Essex (around 15 miles), 25mpg on my inner London commute (6 miles) with 32mpg on a run up the M1 (thru the 50mph roadworks around Luton) to my parents in Northants. Considering the size of the car and the 5litre V8 its amazing. I bet some RX450h owners would struggle to match it. Once its warmed up I find it slips into EV mode very easily. I can even maintain 35mph on the battery once we are rolling. What colour combo is yours?
  9. Thanks Steve. I'm considering a 3 year old one. I have a GS450h now and I love the hybrid system. It would be very nice to have something bigger and more luxurious.
  10. Considering getting a LS600h or LS600hL. Would be nice to chat with a current owner. Thanks,
  11. According to this there may be http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/258380/ Autocar got it very wrong. They had to pull that page. There will be no diesel GS.
  12. Clearly there are references to the Bangle 5 Series, there is no doubt. Apparently this is a concept testing out future ideas for all their saloons, so the final GS may look different. What is interesting is that its a hybrid. Some rumours speculate that there will be 2 hybrid models - a 300h and a 450h with a top spec GS-F looking highly likely (with the same 5 litre V8 as in the IS-F and LS600h). We will know soon enough. Next GS is due next year and we saw final pics of the CT over a year before launch. However maybe Lexus will hold on to the LA and Tokyo Motor shows in November to show.
  13. Debuting next week in New York: http://www.lexusgb-press.co.uk/protected/releases/2011/63690lex.htm
  14. My GS450h is being done now so I have a RX450h which seems to be the standard issue loan car (presumably because they can easily sell them on). The RX is a very different beast to the GS, cant say its using much less fuel either. No where near as quick - more like a Prius.
