  1. no the stereo wont work. the avc lan communication system will stop any component from working if the correct daisy chain communication system isnt hooked up correctly.
  2. yes you can buy aftermarket pioneer cartridge jd-t612 and it is exactly the same magazine and will work in a lexus
  3. lee, i am a lexus rx300 navigation owner in usa. i have the mint condition screen still in the toyota box.the screen is easily replaced. iits an englsh version so should work well and not affected by the left hand right hand usa uk difference. the buttons on the faceplate are reversed but that doesnt affect the screen. . its the nav screen with the 4 connectors on the back not the 1 connector type on the non nav cars. multidisplay ./ its fairly light so express shipping charges should be in the 20 pound range. let me know if your interested. only 3 % of usa rx300 had navigation during its run so they are hard to find in usa also. . my email address is emancy@aol.com
  4. you need to connect the ac control wire to wire 5 of your ac control main harness. then connect the data wire to the tilt and teloccopic ecu wire 7 the white one . next to the steering column under the dash. the speed sensor can also be connected to the tilt and telocopic. you need connectors for the nav unit and a y connction for the pioneer digital amp to get the navigation voice commands frrom your drivers door speaker. also 16 foot sheilded wires to go to the 1999 disc drive computer which is located in the trunk. it took me 2 days working 12 hours a day to do the install with a perfect functioning system i have also installed the latesat nav system dvd disc computer system from a 2005 into a 99 gs300. that took me 4 days of 12 hours a dayto do the install. its kind of like mountaijn climbing for me. they said it couldnt be done so i diid both the 99 gs nav into 99 gs300 and the 2005 gs nav nav in the 99 gs300. the gs is the only lexus which had the same dash fitting from 99 to 2005 making the newer nav conversion possile. the ls430 changed dash size so no retrofit to the 99 2000 ls400 possiblre.
  5. i finally did a total conversion of the 2001 gs400 dvd navigation system in a 99 gs400. it took me over 30 hours of work to do it due to all the wiring problems but finally had a tootal sucess. the ac contol function was the biggest stumbling block but finally solved the problem by installing the 2001 gs400 ac control computer in the 99 gsd400 . also hooked up the lexus lx470 6 disc dvd changer to the system though the 6 pin tcv port on the back of the screen and can view movies on the front nav screen. also found the overide for the screen functioining while driving so the passenger can watch the movie while gs400 is moving.
  6. yes i have the es300 master code numbers. . email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com and i will email you the instructions. if that doesnt work then it isnt ths code but a broken radio. es300 radios go for 100.00 in perfect condition so dont pay 600.00 for a dealer refurb. it couldnt be new for 600.00 as new list price was 1200.00 usa dollars. refurb means it was broken and fixed. better to get a used one that has never been broken. the dealers call the refurb radios new. but they mean new to you not new to you and a new radio. the supposed "new"radios from a lexus dealer say they are remanufactured on the box.
  7. all the japanese models have tv tuners hooked up to the nav and the universal lexus navigation harnesses have tv tuner 12 pin connector on them so there is definitely a way to play dvd movies on your scvreen. that function however will not be known by the dealer as it is illegal to watch dvd while driving in most countries.
  8. i finally got the 2001 dvd nav computer from a gs300 to work on the nav screen ofrom 99gs300. the picture doesnt fill the sreen properly as the 2001 screen is 16:9 and the 99 screen 4:3. have you had any luck getting the 2001 screen and computer to work in a 99 or 2000 . my 01 gs300 screen has connctions to parking brake, to the gateway ecuy in addition to the data link and the speed sensor. sincer the 99 has no gateway ecu i dont think it will hook up. any luck on your side of the atlantic.
  9. hows the 01 nav system in 99 gs coming/ i just converted a 2000 gs from lexus premium sound system to factory nav system without a hitch. if you havce any questions on the 99 let me know. thewre are several ecus that have to hooked into the nav system. they are the tilt and teloscopic ecu wire 7 white. and the ps ecu also. they are both loscated undere the steering column. the disc drive computer is actually not that antiquated compared to the dvd. the dvd is a big improvement over the multiple disc cdrom nav systems of late 90s but the navigation computer that came in original 98 to 2000 aristos are almost as good.
  10. hows the 01 nav system in 99 gs coming/ i just converted a 2000 gs from lexus premium sound system to factory nav system without a hitch. if you havce any questions on the 99 let me know. thewre are several ecus that have to hooked into the nav system. they are the tilt and teloscopic ecu wire 7 white. and the ps ecu also. they are both loscated undere the steering column. the disc drive computer is actually not that antiquated compared to the dvd. the dvd is a big improvement over the multiple disc cdrom nav systems of late 90s but the navigation computer that came in original 98 to 2000 aristos are almost as good.
  11. i have been making lexus wiring harnesses for years for lexus factory cd changers and navigation system add ins. the toyota cd changer port not only has different pinouts but only has 1 set of communication lines. the lexus has 2 and sometimes 3 sets. those are the txm- txm= txs- txs= wires on the schematic . so there is no way the lexus headunit is going to recognize a toyota cd changer adapter input. blitzsafes toyota adapter does not work on any lexus. they made some for lexus model but had no idea that every lexus has a different wiring relation with the amp and headunit. they pulled the lexus aux adapters almost immediately after releasing them several years ago. even the ones that seemed to work initially started cutting the sound out every 7.5 seconds which was the communication line interference from the cd changer to the headunit correctly................................................................. it appears the lexus factory navigation system headunits on the 2001 up models are easier to add in dvd and xm radio but that is still in the experimental stage in the usa but has been done on the 2001 ls430 that i know of. with headunit controlled through the cd changer port. the screen reads out disc and track numbers but they represent the station number when xm hooked up. so station 120 reads disc 1 track 20. . so it is possible to make a direct connction to the headunit on a lexus that is for sure. the 2005 ls430 is finally xm compatible from the factory.
  12. hello from usa, i have installed many factory gs300 nav systems in non nav cars and can help answer some of your questions. the problem is the 99 gs300 had a different screen plugs and radio plugs than the 2001 which is the 2nd generation navigation system you are trying to install in a first generation unit. i have not attempted that switch yet but i am sure it is possible as the gs radio amp connectors stayed the same even though the radio connctors changed and that is where the power to the headunit comes from. .......................................................... i tried to splice in the 2nd generation dvd computer into first generation screen but it didnt work as the 2nd generation computer had a 3rd set of communication pinouts . lexus headunits and peripherals talk to each other through avc-lan and if the proper communication is not recieved the headunit wont recognize the periphreral . but if you find a 2nd generation lexus dvd computer it will conmmunicate with the head unit you have............................................................................... the mystery black box is no mystery at all but is just the electronic part of the ac control that was above the radio. there is a 1 wire connection from the screen harness to the ac control haness (the blue wire in the bottom row of the big ac connector on the 99gs)wirng harness . also there is a 1 wire connction to the steering wheel control if so equiped. there is also a 1 wire connction to the speed sensor which is the botom row green wire on big connector the speedometer. these are all easily acsessed with a phillips screw driver. ................................................ it is a very nice conversion and makes it possible to add a tv tuner and a dvd player as well as satelite radio here in the usa. a company in usa just satarted making the compatible box that plugs into the cd changer port and can be controlled by the haed unit for all types of peripherals such as ipod and xm . so many things are going to be possible for lexus navigation system owners. the only difference for uk version is your computer is made by aishin aw a uk company and the usa version has a denso made computer. also uk version faceplates reveresed for usa use. but all the wiring at the headunit looks the same . you have a big project to get all the wires spliced but it can be done. i am doing a 99 ls400 non nav to nav conversion right now. and have all the parts to do a harrier(rx300) and a lx-470 100 a 100 in uk i believe. everyone has entirely different screen and wiring harness but once yu have done 1 install you learn all the things needed to be attached.
  13. sorry i was on vacation. yes i have the 99 entire unit rx300 radio , multidisplay a/c controls . the raddio would have usa station frequencies 550 to 1710 am and 88 ti 107,7 fm so dont know what you need . is your radio broken too. by the way the 48010 is not a nav scrren. the nav screen has different part number. the 99 only had multi display scceen. you would need to change screens to have a nav system installed in a 99. i have installed a complete 2002 rx300 nav system in a 99 rx300 but it requires nav wiring harness which was not preinstalled in usa cars until 2001 .so yoiu need nav sceen , nav radio, nav conmputer, nav gps antenna, nav wiring harness to install nav in an rx300. even if japan had nav in 99 your part number 48010 is not nav. nav was 86110-48030 in usa and 48050 in japan. i have a the entire japan nav screen in stock also but cost 3 times more than mutidisplay scceen from me in working used condition. email for pictures and info.
  14. i am also usa distributor of cleanced lexus audio products. as far as a harrier rx300 cd changer i have those in stock too. i have the cd changer 82270-48020 brand new new in the box for 300 pounds. they work on either harrier or rx300 models as cd changers have no frequency problems like different market radios have. the usa dealer price for a new rx300 changer now is $2,441.00 if you can fathom that price. i got some of the clearanced changers that origianlly went for $1100.00 in 1999. so that is why i can sell new ones so cheap. they have a year 2000 manufacturing date and lexus clearanced them as they are 4 years now old but still brand new in the box. i will give a 3 year warranty................................................................ . they doubled all the cd changer prices in 2001 in usa all lexus models cd changers and they all sell in the over 2000 doillar range 1000 pound range. you will need to change out the glovebox parts also. the front door sides can be cut down to save that cost but the rear glovebox part will have to be bought new. they are 100.00 usa price at dealer and is part number 55433-4804b0. i take paypal for international payment.................................................................................... my name is lexusaudio on usa clublexus and a regluar contributor there for years, my specialty in clublexus is retrofititing the ultlmate nakamichi sound systems in the early gs300, windom and ls400 celsior models so i am a expert at retrofiting lexus audio and nav systems in lexus models that didnt come with them. i know nothing about putting in aftermarket systems which i think is a waste since lexus factory systems all matched sound wise to the interiors and have very clear sound but not a loud sound..
  15. hello its kostas from usa . ive got a harrier jdm(japan domestic market ) sateliite nav system for sale for 750 pounds about one tenth the dealer price. the problem is installing it in a 99 harrier which may not prewired for it. the entire nav wiring system would also ppossibly have to be installed. the advantge of jdm over usa version is it is already set up for right hand drive. also the nav unit was a 99 option in japan so your 99 harrier may already be prewired for the nav unitsince it is right hand drive. or did they make left hand drive harriers like the rx300. the cool thing about the jdm harrier version it has a tv button on the console . already set up for dvd and tv tuner input.
