Iv got the tom tom on my iphone but its not the same...really enjoyed this feature on the lexus Hopefully i can sort it out somehow...I am looking out for another rom but as you said they are rare and pricey Ill give it a few weeks then i might jusy get a sony widescreen tom tom and retro fit that in

Hi, 2002 Lexus Is300 dvd rom based sat nav. Was fully working up until now..i keep getting the same message for over a week now So far i have taken the map dvd rom out given it a good clean...still no luck I have bought a dvd/cd lens cleaner and played this in the unit for a few hours..still no luck I have taken the rom out carefully, opened it and cleaned the laser with the correct lens cleaner fluid.. Put it back together plugged it in inserted the map dvd and the same message appears :megaangry: The only thing i can access is the calendar and the maintenance page from the menu but cannot go any further as immediately the same message will pop up. The map dvd is an original. This came with the car and I only have the one, it is in pristine condition. I am considering to purchase an update map dvd from lexus incase its not reading that disc anymore...but it might be a waste of money as the rom may have packed up i.e. the laser... If there is no dvd inserted in the unit, it will say insert map dvd so the rom is reading the cd.. Not to sure how to work around this so any advice will be appreciated Many thanks.

Agreed the car will achive the best mpg on the tick over rather than start/stop... On my Is300 which is ridiculously low as in the profile pic, it has a drag which does not help the mpg at all... However on today's price shell nitro i have managed to get 80/90 miles carefull driving. (£20 worth) Mixture of town and dual carrigeway's which personally i think this is excellent for a car of this calibire ... Car is stock apart from the ride height... Allways serviced form lexus... But on normal occasions i have a very heavy foot and love the response of this car... Car was purchased for the luxury and the drive and i certainly drive this openly it returns 17-20mpg Approx 370 to the tank with mainly commuting on motorways to work... I couldnt consider another vechile of this value for the luxury, smoothness, quiteness and overall drive so im happy with it Previosuly i had a is200 and tried to fiddle with it for better mpg only thing that worked was to drive like a granny, high psi in the tyres and a k&n panel filter, max 20miles more to the tank... But if your looking for economy is200/300 are not the cars they are simply just not built for it The only mod i would suggest would be to gas convert it, then you'l have the best of both worlds...

Changed coil 1 as I had doubts on it... Problem solved, running as it should... Wash, fuel and a long drive is in order

Hi, Problem i am facing is the car starts up and switches off after a couple of minutes... There is no misfire and the car turns over as per normal... It slightly sputters and switches off as if the petrol was to run out... It has allways ran on 97+ ron shell fuel 2k on ik20 ignitors... Engine light is on along with trc and vsc... Got the car plugged in last night came up with... P1300 -igntion coil no.1 harness is open or shorted -igntion coil no.1 circuit poor electrical connection -faulty igntion coil no.1 -faulty engine control module (ecm) I have checked the coil leading to the ignitor which is fine and it is delivering the relavant spark The ignitor is also working correctly and giving spark Checked all the harness wiring to make sure it is plugged in correctly and has no breaks Help needed on this one as i cannot work out what it is and what to check next Any help will be appriciated Many Thanks

Iv tinted my full front windscreen light smoke which allows in 70% light, (does not effect visibility) daytime it is more or less clear but in the night it gives a smokey effect, side windows are 35% medium smoke and the rear windscreen is limo black 5%. and as tango has posted it is illegal to have privacy tints from the central pillar foward, but hey i enjoy my privacy! :winky:

After 30 odd min of driving i get a high pitch squeel from the driver side wheel At first i assumed it is the brakes or discs as they were worn Pads and discs have now been changed Once the car is warm it will start squeeling from 10mph onwards The backing plate has also been checked for tolerance Regardless of applying the brakes or turning left/right the squeel will remain The wheel has been checked for any movement/play, wheel bearing seems fine This sound is very annoying Any idea's or advise would be appriciated, thanks in advance
