Hi John,
I am looking to treat myself to a nice is250 but the search for a good one is not easy! (As in the title of my thread)
as a F-Sport owner can you possibly explain why this F-Sport I have found for sale (bit pricey but struggling here!) has only got an "F-Sport" badge on one front wing and not the other side? Is there an explaination for this you think or is my mind being really doubtful and thinking accident (non-recorded) damage?
Your thoughts are very welcome,
cheers Paul M

Hi there Paul.
I feel your pain. I had to spend a while looking for a decent car to show up myself after my first one was written-off!
It does look nice in the pictures but I think you're right to be suspicious as it should definitely have a badge on both wings and the paintwork looks very fresh. The panel gaps etc look pretty normal so there might be an innocent explanation since I think the badges are just held on with adhesive, so maybe it was only stolen. It could be worth a look if you're local enough to check it out in person.
At the very least contact the seller for the reg number so you can start doing some digging.
If you do view it, most of these cars will be carrying some stone chips to the front bumper and bonnet, so if it's immaculate, I'd suspect that it's been painted, and potentially had a new wing.
If it's sound though you should definitely try and beat the price down a bit . My first one was a 2010 like this with ML/Nav and 22K on the clock and I paid £11990 from an Indy in 2015 for it. With hindsight, I think my particular car HAD been in an accident before I bought it as some things just didn't feel right, but it was all academic since it ended-up being written-off properly by getting hit by a Transit!
The car I have now, is a facelift model with the DRL headlights and I only paid 9750 for it last year. That was a private sale, but still, it was a 1-owner car with FSH etc. I think I got a good deal there as I've just had a look to see what's available from Lexus approved, and ***** it's like depreciation doesn't exist - 12.5K and 13K for pre-facelift models without the nav unit...that's almost IS-F territory.
BTW, I would recommend holding out for one with the navigation screen. The actual navigation system can probably be bettered by a smartphone these days, but it's a lot more besides - you're also getting the reversing camera, touchscreen controls for the heater/A/C etc.
It's also worth mentioning that the earlier F-Sports (like this one in the ad) were better -equipped than later models. They were basically SE-L spec minus the full leather, cooled seats and rear blind. By getting a newer car my list of equipment actually shrank!. I lost the ML system, the ability to play DVDs and rip audio CDs to the HDD, memory seats, electrically adjustable steering column and the dipping & folding mirrors,..In an ideal world I would've got another 2010 model, but as I'm sure you know beggars can't be choosers with such a fairly rare car.
If yo need any more pointers, just give me a shout.
Cheers,
John
