  1. This is a post to warn others of the bad experience I had with Lexus. I purchased a Lexus GS450H three years ago and it has been brilliant car, until a few months ago when I noticed both wings at the top of the wheel arch going rusty. No problem I thought the car is covered under the corrosion warranty, so took it to my local dealer. They passed it onto Lexus who then sent a specialist to inspect the car. To my surprise it was turned down as the paint was not original. I was disappointed with this but explained that I purchased it as approved used so surely this was something that the dealer should have picked up. No the paint is not inspected as part of the checks done for approved used, so the original manufactures warranty is not valid. I even checked with the previous owner (there has only been two of us), and the said apart from some minor scratches the car had not had any major repair. I decided to have the car fixed myself in a local body repair shop. I asked them if they thought the wings had been resprayed. No the said definitely original, except for the door which has been repaired. So remember if buying an approved used car the corrosion warranty is not necessarily valid, even if another panel has been repaired to the faulty one, then the corrosion is not covered anywhere else on the vehicle, unless Lexus undertook the repair.
  2. I have a Gs 450h about 9 years old and rust has started to appear in the same place at the top of the wheel arches on both sides. I took it to the local Lexus dealer and they had someone from lexus UK check it out, and they said it was due to a respray. They measured the paint and it wasn't consistent. It was a lexus approved car so surely the garage I bought it from should have checked this? Damage to both wings very strange to have repair both of them !. I went to several body repair shops to get quotes and they said it was a design fault. Went to lexus customer service and they said nothing they can do. Has anyone taken such a complaint any further as I think lexus don't want to do the repair because of the cost ?.
  3. Hi Has anyone tried the conversion kit available in the US to convert the main beam lights to daytime running lights? See this link http://www.ebay.com/itm/9005-LED-High-Beam-Bulbs-Daytime-Running-Lights-Lexus-/130527404737
  4. Thanks for the quick response. Sorry but I need to access what I listed. I have fitted these to other vehicles before. They have a built in voltage change unit so they detect when the car is turned off and come with inline fuse. I need to find the positive battery post in the engine bay.

  6. My existing cd changer on my RX 400h has error 4, which means the carrier system has broken. Lowest cost repair around £400 with only 3 month guarantee! (This is cheap as the new unit from Lexus is £1700 and recon £950). Not really that impressed with it anyway, and I feel repairing the unit would be throwing good money after bad! So my question is, has any one taken out the factory fitted pioneer cd changer, installed a double din adaptor (beatsonic appears to be the one) and new audio system? If so which kit from beatsonic do I need, as I am unsure if the 2005 400h (without SatNav) has a separate amplifier? What double din system did you then install?
