  1. Just wondering if it is a known problem, as it has been happening since the car was 2 years old, and happens every few years or so. Each time it happens I have to leave the car away to get fixed. I think the last auto electrician mentioned water was getting trapped in a module and shorting out - possibly a heater/blower controller in the passenger footwell area that isn't easy to access?
  2. I have been having a similar problem with a 2010 IS220D for a few years now. If I leave the heater fan on and turn off the ignition, the heater fan keeps running, so there must be a short somewhere. Even if I turn off the heater fan before turning off the ignition, the battery will drain overnight. This only seems to happen in cold weather each winter when there is a lot of snow or rain. I can start on a jump start however it means I have to remember to park on a hill if I am leaving the car for a few hours. Does anyone know what is causing this? Possibly water shorting out a connection somewhere due to the cold damp snowy weather?
  3. I have a 2010 Lexus 220D SE. On some occasions when I press the Start/Stop button to turn the car off, the heater fan keeps running continuously, unless I turn the fan off before turning the car off. This has caused the battery to run flat a few times. Previously when I pressed the Stop button, everything shut off normally. But now, on some occasions the heater fan keeps running if not turned off first, but lights and all other electrics turn off as normal. Could this be caused by a sticking relay? Or could something else be the cause?
  4. The car hasn't had an oil change yet and I need to top it up. What grade of oil does the manufacturer use? Should semi-synthetic or fully-synthetic oil be used?
  5. Can anyone advise what oil can be used to top up the engine oil in a 2010 IS220d SE?
  6. D'oh! I must have accidentally pressed the disable button inside the glove compartment. I have enabled it again and I can open the boot again using my remote, boot button, and internal boot opening button. Thanks shjh01! On reading up more about this button in the owner's manual, I see that it is a useful anti-theft device, to prevent someone smashing the driver's window and opening the boot using the internal boot opening button.
  7. Hi, I just recently got my first Lexus, a 2010 IS220d. The boot had been opening ok previously, using the button on the boot lid, the key fob, and the internal button. I put some stuff in the boot a few days ago, and when I went to get it out later that day I couldn't get the boot open using any of the above methods. There is no clicking sound or any sign that the boot is attempting to open electronically. I had to open it manually using the key. I have tried the electronic buttons again several times, but nothing is happening. All other door locks and windows are operating ok electronically. The only thing that I can think of is that I had locked and unlocked the glove compartment after putting the stuff in the boot. Could this have had any affect? Or is there some other method of disabling and enabling the electronic lock?
