  1. Hi all, just to let you know the excellent "customer service" did kick in. After a few nervous days, I received a call authorising all the corrective work to be carried out. It took about 3 or 4 days but got the car back and its now night and day. Cant thank the staff at Lexus and in particular Lexus Edinburgh enough. Very professional, courteous and understanding. Only done about 100 miles since the fix but couldnt be happier.

  5. Thanks for the help. The problem I've got now is that I'm getting 2 stories from Lexus. 1. It's the erg valve which now has the extended warranty but my car doesnt have the rights codes in the ems. But this would support the discoloured water in the pump which is a so called symptom but wouldnt support the heaters not working and it was explained the car would over heat. Which it wasn't doing and no error lights came on in the dash. Or 2. It's the cylinder head which explains the heaters not working but not the discolured water in the water pump. Either way I'm waiting for Lexus to confirm if they'll authorise the work. Still can believe it seems to be a common fault with this model but an easy answer isn't forth coming. Hoping the commended "customer service" kicks in but still dissapointed I'm still having this trouble and possible expense with a 4 year old premium car. Will keep you posted of developments. Cheers.
  6. Can anybody let me know how I find out more about the 7 year warranty. Having problems with head gasket. No overheating but leaking coolant and heater not working correctly and a possible £5k bill. Cheers.
  7. Hi, just dropped my 2007 220d with 53k miles off at Lexus. Waiting to hear if they'll repair mine which seems to be having the same problem. I'd be grateful if someone could confirm or tell me how to find out about the 7 year engine warranty or any other useful info in case I need to argue the fact. I'm just hoping the 'famed customer services" kick in or will be looking at the £4500 fix. Will keep you posted on any results. Cheers.
  8. Hi, I'm having the same problem with mine. Please do a search on my users name to see my previous posts or search on "IS220d heaters not working". As mentioned, This seems to be a common fault regardless of service history / mileage etc and as you can tell I'm completely hacked off that owners are having problems geting this problem resolved by Lexus. In my case it is an 07 with 53K. I'm taking mine in next week so will let you know how I get on. If you phone a Lexus branch their fully aware of the problem but so far they've not exactly been helpful. Will gladly retract this statement depending on how I get on next week. Cheers.
  9. Hi, can anyone provide any further assistance with this issue? I've had my 2007 IS220d for about 9 months and a few months ago I encountered this same problem. After taking it to a few local garages (I do not live near a Lexus one) and having the water pump and other various parts replaced. I was informed (only because one of the garages called Lexus) it could / probably is the head gasket. The response was it is a common fault with this model and they had aleady had a few queries. I'm assuming due to the bad weather people are only now noticing the heaters not working correctly. After reading the various posts I cant understand how a car with such a great reputation for quality and reliablilty can have such major / expensive common fault. And, I think we can all agree, a car of around 4 years of age or less should not require 000's to be spent on repairs. It seems its down to luck whether this fault orrucurs regardless of service history, extended waranties or mileage. I'm planning to persue this with Lexus. I'd be grateful if anyone could add new information relating to their problem and what, if any, assistance Lexus provided. Thanks.
