  1. Happy Birthday Multics!

  2. I disconnected the throttle body from the intake plenum 2-3 weeks ago when I changed the spark plugs, I can't remember seeing coolant hoses. If there are coolant hoses then you're right, you should bleed the coolant system afterwards, no need for a full coolant service IMO unless required. I didn't change the gasket between the TB and plenum (forgot to buy it), but it still makes a very good seal.
  3. Missed that, been to Lexus Leeds to pick up some parts but didn't enter the showroom. Thanks for the heads-up, will pop in this weekend.
  4. I'm sorry but I think this is incorrect. Lexus uses 5W30 in Europe and 0W20 in the US on the IS 250 model.
  5. 60K service includes spark plugs, this is the where most of the cost is. The spark plugs alone are £17 (£102 for six) and the whole upper intake has to be taken off to remove the three plugs from the right side of the "V" engine. Make sure you also change the three gaskets under the intake (part number 17176-31050). It took me about 4 hours to do them, I'm not a mechanic but I like working on cars. I bought the plugs from Lexus Birmingham for £78 on eBay so I saved quite some cash in the end. The spark plug reference is Denso FK20HBR11 (part number is 90919-01249). Do not buy anything else, they are awkward plugs (triple electrode iridium with long body) and all other plugs are incompatible. There's a full spark plug service guide on ClubLexus.com with very detailed instructions and good pictures.
  6. Good to hear everything is OK now. I have the Joe-Z intake pipe and a couple of holes in the air filter box, sounds really nice.
  7. Yes, they have two indicator bulbs in the headlights and no side indicators in the front fenders.
  8. Just incase you have not read my recent thread on this topic, Lexus say it is acceptable to use up to 1 lt every 1200 miles. My car uses around 0.60 lt in that period so is apparently well within spec although I personally feel this is a lot. I'm going to try a 5w-40oil next oil change rather than the recommended 5w-30 to see if this helps reduce the consumption. Carl Hi Carl, yes I did see your thread and read the posts but I didn't want to hi-jack it :) My engine also burns some oil but I couldn't estimate how much since I didn't know how much oil is between the low and high marks on the dipstick. Can you confirm that it's indeed 1 Litre? Thanks
  9. Well, had to catch a flight from Manchester airport this morning at 6:30am. All roads were under 15cm of snow here in Huddersfield (very hilly). Winter tyres or not, the car was all over the place, I only made it down the road where I parked it and came back home. It seems that the money we pay for council tax and road tax is not enough for them to clear and grit our roads once or twice a year. Rant over.
  10. Hi all, How much oil is between the "Low" and "High" marks? I can't find the info in the owner's manual. I'd like to measure the oil consumption of my engine over 1000 miles. Thanks!
  11. 2006 IS250 Manual (56 Reg) = £460 per year. Had to pay it a month ago.
  12. I called Lexus Leeds yesterday as my car does that too (stone hitting windscreen type of noise), it's a 2006 model. They quoted me £99 including VAT for fixing it. The fix apparently consists of taking the stereo out and install different padding. I will probably attempt to fix it myself.
  13. Yes you're correct re the modding habits of UK vs USA. I want a conservative drop that's why I was thinking of the F-Sport springs. The Eibach seem to be a good choice. I'm still unsure if I should get springs since my shocks are quite old now (59k miles), perhaps it's a better idea to go for coilovers (new shocks + adjustable height all in one).
  14. Thread resurrection time! I'm looking to lower my IS250 using the F-Sport springs available in the US. Lexus Leeds and Lexus Bradford have no idea of what I'm talking about, they don't seem to know that there's a range of F-Sport accessories that exists. Maybe they don't know anything about it because it's not available in the UK, which would be a shame. They are official Lexus parts, why not available in the UK though? 15. Thanks. Why "welcome to the horror of is200"?! I suppose the 6th gear on the manual has a longer ratio than the 4th on the auto so that would explain the better mpg at 70mph. I thought the is200 came with the 1g-fe engine and the is300 with the 2jz-ge... I dont understand your last comment regarding the 1jz-ge.
