  1. Those tyres certainly have some mega-grip
  2. Craig, welcome to the LOC. I'm afraid that I can't help, but you might get better response by posting this on the IS200 part of the forum as well. Hope someone points you in the right direction soon.
  3. That's beter, iff their is won thing I carnt stand it is paw speling.
  4. Very smart, they should look good once fitted. I'm sure I saw that spoke pattern on a Jag just recently - it was the stud like embellishments at the rim-end of the spokes that caught my eye. Post some images when your done, I'm sure we'd all like to see the result.
  5. Although generally we try and get the spelling right. Welcome to the LOC and we all look forward to seeing those pichers.
  6. Welcome to the club. As an IS250 owner myself, I can tell you that you are in for a treat. As for fuel economy, don't have too much expectation. Drive sensibly and use cruise control where possible is the best advice I can give you. On average I seem to get around 37mpg, with less around town and B roads and better on long motorway journeys. Nice looking car by the way. How about some interior shots when you get it home.
  7. It might be worth seeing if someone within the LOC has a used set they are trying to sell. Occasionally they come up. If they are half decent it might be better then getting a refurb.
  8. It seems odd that anyone should be prejudiced against the Lexus, IS200 or any other. If they are going to go back to the base metal this shouldn't matter a jot, however if they are not going this far, they may be influenced by the fact that Lexus are notorious for having alloys with a short life.
  9. I bought my IS from Cardiff last year and had a few issues with the specification of the car. It was difficult communicating with the original salesman - but anyway I was not pleased. However I have since returned it for my first service and had a different experience. Natalie seems to be setting the standard, though I'm not sure how long she's been there. (My first experience with the service staff) It seems odd that the two dealerships (Bristol and Cardiff) are both part of the Sytner group. It just goes to show how good local management can really make a difference.
  10. Is that the new Lexus I've heard so much about?
  11. If the alloys were refurbished before they sold it (assume 'they' is a dealership) they may consider that the refurb was not part of the warranty. However if you have other issues, I would make a polite fuss and see what the reaction is. I've never understood why there are so many problems with Lexus alloys and even more puzzled why, after a chance to put them right, they still deteriorate. 2007 is not particularly old for a Lexus and you should reasonably expect a good product for your money. What mileage is it? Whether you get a case study or not, I would make a firm but polite 'request' that these things be corrected. My approach has been to always start from a point of politeness and amiability, don't start stamping your feet until they actually refuse.
  12. Oddly enough I removed my cream mats and bought a set of charcoal grey to match the under carpet. I still have the originals and will fit them back if/when I ever sell. The ivory leather interior is great, but I found that the matching mats got very dirty/untidy very quickly despite being very careful about clean shoes etc. The greys are not Lexus but have the proper fittings and look good - and more importantly do not show the dirt.
  13. I hope so. It would be great to be able to catch up on the move with a simple app, rather that trying to navigate via a browser.
  14. Depends on how long it was running without oil. When was the last service done according to Lexus? Did the seller have a go at some sort of service themselves and then forgot to top up the auto oil -or worse drained the oil and forgot to replace it? Not sure if Ricky had a pool of oil under his car or if he just realised that it had disappeared. Perhaps it was never there in the first place. Wouldn't the system flag this up as an alarm warning?
  15. Hi and welcome. I often wished I'd gone for an LS. I almost bought one many years ago, but it had been a smoker's car and it had permeated everything. Salesman tried to convince me that it could be removed - but I wasn't convinced. Anyway enjoy it. What have you got planned for it? What sort of mileage has it got?
  16. I've never driven/owned a Lexus diesel, and after reading the many posts on this forum I think it unlikely that I ever will. There is not the great advantage to many diesel engines these days. It's not as though the fuel costs are that much cheaper - gone are the days when diesel cost less than petrol at the pumps. I do have a Landrover diesel and it is very reliable (thus far), so I do know about fuel costs and economies of scale. If your idea in going for diesel is to save running costs - you may be disappointed. If your thinking reliability - you may also be disappointed. I agree with the above - check everything out very carefully before taking this on.
  17. Anybody know if there is an app to view the LOC site (forums etc) using an android tablet/phone. Had a search around and couldn't see anything mentioned.
  18. The one I am looking at is Sept 11 so hopefully it's on halogens. Def only on 17" wheels though. I have the June 2011 Advance with the double spoke 17 inch. The 18inch give a harder ride - not something I would be comfortable with. (No pun intended) The Advance has a good range of toys, and it has taught me what my real priorities will be next time I buy a car. What I'd keep and what I could lose without a worry:- Electrically adjustable seats - I am the only driver and I set them only once. [Lose] Voice activated commands - I played with it for about 15 mins. while my car stood in the drive and never used it since. [Lose] Satnav - I use all the time [Keep] 6 CD changer - I put one CD in to try it out, but I now have all my tracks on a USB memory stick. [Lose] Controls on steering wheel - I use regularly. [Keep] Climate control - Essential for me, though I wish that the airflow could be individually electronically regulated rather than just the temperature. [Keep] Stiff suspension - I'm sure it makes for good road holding, but I prefer it less rigid. I like luxury in my old age. [Lose] Daytime running lights- I don't have daytime running lights and the more I see of them the less I like them. If future laws allowed, I wouldn't bother. [No thanks] No HIDS but I would have preferred them [Yes please] Sound system - Essential, though I'm not sure an ML has much to offer over the system I have - then again I'm not a purist. Automatic gearbox - Definite [Keep] Leather - [Yes], while I can still afford it. Heated seats- I would never hear the end of it from my wife if I didn't have these. [Keep] Auto Lights and wipers- I'm surprised that I like these. [Keep] Auto car door locking at 12mph- Love this [Keep] (Wished it also locked automatically when no activity detected in car after 2 mins.) What would you guys keep/lose/add?
  19. Edit: holy moly just realised we go to Wales in May! Here's hoping Hereford is safer than Swansea! Sorry Normski that can't be guaranteed - watch out for the rough parking area near the football pitch in Hereford. Actually we're not all dangerous drivers - well not the Lexus owners anyway. Hope you enjoy your time in Heredfordshire, I'll keep a look out for you on our regular visits there in May. Which of your fleet will you be driving? :) Oh, and before you get accosted by angry Welshman - I should point out that Hereford belongs to the English.
  20. Mark, I think this sort of question has been asked quite a few times for various models. I don't think that you will get a definitive answer. You might get a basic spec listing based on the year but in reality it will depend entirely on what the original owner ordered at the time. A 2010 model will probably have rear camera and Sat-Nav as standard. Does it have parking sensors and Mark Levinson audio? Are we looking at a manual or auto? It would be great to see some pics.
  21. Good looking specimen - at 67k it's just about run-in. With a black car you'll need to keep the sponge and bucket handy at all times. Hope you get things sorted. Has it got a good service history?
  22. I'd be interested to see how this works as I've never heard from anyone that has taken up the 'refund' option before. Let us know when it's all done and dusted and your experience/observations with the process. I'm sure you will find the right car soon - you've just had a bit of bad luck here. Lexus cars are brilliant and can't really be beaten for value for your money.
  23. When I saw this topic heading I was pretty certain that I was not going to like what I saw. I was wrong - It looks really smart and done very well. Very impressive.
  24. As Normski says - it is your call. All I can tell you is that if this annoys you now, it will annoy you even more the longer you have to put up with it. You either have to accept that the hiss will probably be there for the duration of your ownership, or change it now. Years ago I bought a used car (not Lexus) and the radio hissed badly when I put on the heated rear screen. The garage tried to fix it by replacing the rear window, but it was just the same. They eventually gave me the option to change the car, but I really liked the one I had bought and thought that I could put up with it. I couldn't. After three months I traded it in (at a loss) and shelled out on something else. If you are not 100pc sure that you can live with this - change it now while you have the option.
