  1. discs and pads replaced. squeal gone! result!
  2. well ive got a whistle and im fooked right off with it blowing. i had a clunk at low speed turning into parking etc etc, along with the whistle any faster the 20mph. had it in thick****s....twice as i dont get much free time and they could find no fault. then the balljoint popped and left me mrs n baby in the middle of road with a wheel off,out and only standing because my now warped wing caught it. changed the broken balljoint with a mate and soon after replaced the other. excellent walkthrough tutorials available for the is200 save some labour costs wherever you can! the clunk was still there and the whistle goes away until youve used the brakes a bit. Anti-roll bar suspension droplinks cured the clunk. These were somewhat harder to remove on my 2000 IS but me and lewe-d got there with a hacksaw and an angle grinder so you may want to pay labour on that one just to avoid stress. The whistle is still there. Shim kit from lexus helped but it returned soon after testrun. I believe the whistle is the brakes(cheap pads and lippy discs are screamin at me im hoping as the bearings are fine apparantly. Drilled and grooved front discs and some heavy duty ebc pads are sitting in the hallway, hopefully this will sort the problem. I have noticed when i take the brakes apart, once reassembled the whistle has gone. either as they warm up or bed in the whisle returns. On one recent sunny day the whistle must have pestered someone else because for the whole day it was gone! next day....not you again. i love my car! il love it even more once ive finished picking up the pieces from the last owner who clearly gave up on her . i nearly lost faith but my socks are still holy!
  3. Id keep me eyes peeled for an IS the same colour near you, scope out the owner and decifer whether it was them who could have pinched it! Then live a little and one time embark on a mission to fetch it back! then once refitted give it a few days. If it was them then they will more then likely return for it. just a thought but if its cleanly removed it must be planned. unless it came off whilst driving, but a swerving follower trying to dodge a ufo in the sight of your rear view mirror woulr have been a giveaway :arrrggg-matey:
  4. possibly so. not had this problem yet! could be ya windscreen if its been replaced at some point as ive heard they sometimes dont seal properly. Il be sorting the man a drink for extra glue if i ever need replacement! im not sure if theres any drain holes in the doors that could be blocked and letting water in. Hopefully someone will advise you better mate. not sure where the sunroof drain leaves the car. May just be that at some point someone gave it a good pressure wash or steam clean in the engine bay, which in another motor i had that issue. water came through the aircon vents. you had the car long? I dont even dare feel mine! But im gonna have to now!
  5. i had this. rust still there to prove it! i ripped the lining out of the boot and there were the flaps. surface rust forming around the vent. dried it out nice with the heat gun. and sealed up around the outside of the vent. after a few days i checked. there was some water in the arch which i dried right out again. been a good month now. loads of rainfall and im still dry. will have a good look behind the bumper one day. holding out for the summer for a good clean up and direct to rust paint its all about the vents in my case enjoy!
  6. just done mine satin black. looks the nuts! yellow calipered up too! gun metal grey would look sweet as also i reckon.
  7. how would i remove this steve? i have not taken the whole disc off to see how its on there yet, could i do it myself?thanks.
  8. great idea tigerfish. sounds like a plan. thanks
  9. so my o/s/f brake dust guard is about to fall off and im in way deeper then i thought with this worn old beast. il get there! looks like the guard goes on before the bearing assembly. And as for the rusty state id be surprised if i got the old one off anyway. i know i probably shouldnt but could i live without it? obviously id have to clean down there a bit more. any comments? thanks. p.s when i get this car up to scratch im deleting my silly problem posts and pretending they never existed!
  10. hello owners in the club. i am looking for a backbox for my is200. dont want the hassle of welding and adding pipes to fit a new one. thought i may be able to grab a bargain somewhere and save me some hassle in fitting as it should just bolt straight on. not always that simple though many thanks bingo
  11. I have the odd clonk! Us lexus owners have lots in common. was it just a case of adjustment? that would be an issue off the list if so!many thanks
  12. morning all! I want to try get hold of a wheel bearing hub assembly to rule out where this noise is coming from, There was a comment to a post which i now cant locate, saying that someone did the same thing to solve a similar sound which worked also reducing the sound from his wife. im going to locate a used part to try and swap them over. Even if it works and starts up again six months down the line..at least id know the cause and action required. im not up for ringing lexus as the banks not permitting a great deal so i am saving any embarrassment for now lol i have seen used parts between 40 and 70 notes, which is a loss i can handle if it does not silence the mrs...i mean.....the car Anyone ever bought a complete hub assembly for the front of there IS200? if so do you mind sharing how much for?
  13. hi. curious to know how to change the front interior bulb on the is200 . the lens just pops off the rear one but the front does not wanna move. i have not tried pulling the whole unit off the roof yet. shall i?
  14. hello mate. where abouts are you located? could be perfect. planning to get it carbon wrapped eventually. As long as it does not have a rechid dent in it im a happy man. dam this car needs my love! if i can arrange someone to collect it and deliver or your not to far il come fetch it. a pic should not be necessary bud. nice one.
