  1. So the time finally came to sell my IS200 today, it had a few issues that i could have sorted but i fancied a change of car after 3 years. Not a brand new car but it does look good, i went for a BMW 325CI Coupe, its been well looked after and really looks like a great car, never owned a BM before so ill have to see how i get on to be fair. Ill be sad to see my Lexus go though as its been great car and pretty much bullet proof so far, I'm sure ill get another one some day, maybe the IS300.
  2. I just asked a friend of mine thats a Mechanic and he said its probably the pins, apparently they are prone to seezing, if it is that then is that what causes the noise and judder as you apply the brake.
  3. Hey guys... So.. about a week or so ago i noticed a kind of knocking from My IS200 when applying the brakes, its not a grinding or a squeaking but more of a knock which i can hear and feel. Its hard to describe, kind of like if you put a stone on the disc and then hit the break, every time the stone came around to the brake you would get a knock, so at speed it comes round quickly and then slows as the wheel stops spinning faster. I only had an MOT 3 weeks ago and they were fine and the noise wasn't there before i had that done. Any ideas?
  4. I checked them out on Facebook and sent them an email asking if they could remap my 51 plate IS200 and what performance enhancements it would give as well as asking for the cost of this to be done and they replied with this. Good afternoon John, The protocols are not available for petrol model IS' yet. as soon as they are developed i will be sure to get in touch. Kind regards Kris
  5. Hi guys... Just a quick one to say that my lovely Lexus IS200 SE auto passed her MOT yesterday, 140,000 miles in, Again with flying colours according to the fella doing the test, no advisories as there haven't been in the other 3 I've had done. Happy Days, touch wood.. I still love the way she looks, even after all these years.
  6. Hi guys... Just wondering if anyone could shed a little light on these little things i've noticed recently on my IS200 Auto. First thing is a slight squeak, it seems to be coming from the drivers side front wheel and only happens when i turn left, I can be going at speed or slowly, it doesn't seem to matter. The second thing is some knocks or kind of notches, this only happens when i'm reversing and put the steering wheel on full lock, it can be full left or full right, as you reverse you can just hear some little notches (best way i can describe it) or clunks, neither of these affect the drive of the car, as far as i know but are irritating me now. Anyone have any ideas what they may be?
  7. I checked it this morning from cold and then filled it up, left it for a bit and added a small amount more, ran the car and when it was up to temp, no warning light and the level looks good now. Cheers ;-)
  8. Evening guys... My oil level warning light came on last night, the orange one top left of the dash, I've ordered some oil to top it up but just wondering what the best way to check the level is. I usually do it when the engines cold, which I did today and it looks at an ok level to me, the manual however recommends getting it up to temp, turning it off and then leaving it a few minutes to get a truer reading. Is that the best way?
  9. That time of year again... took my Lexus IS200, 51 plate, 132,000 miles into the MOT place yesterday and she flew through with ease.... Had a nice bit of lunch while i waited, went back and the fella said she is immaculate, not 1 advisory, amazes me how well made they are. Considering this car is 12 years or more old and i've never had an issue in the 2 years i've owned her (touch wood) i just service her and she just never misses a beat... Thought id include a shiny picture as well ;-)
  10. I was recently looking at swapping my Lexus IS200, 51 plate for a Mercedes CLK230 supercharged of the same year, i know these can suffer badly with rust but the person assured me that it only had one small patch by an arch. Well after driving a lot of miles, the car had rust on every arch as well as the cills, but it was when i got into the car that i realised how nice my Lexus was, the wood looked so cheap and shiny, like plastic... some of the things inside didn't work and there were gaps everywhere, you'd close a panel in the centre console and you could slide pound coins through them. Then i took it for a drive and it felt like it had been smoking 200 bensons a day for 50 years... Considering this car was like £40K or more new, it was shocking and i could not wait to get out and back into my Lexus, it felt like bloody heaven ;-)
  11. Similar thing when being caught by a mobile device... I believe the device has to have been calibrated within a certain time limit to be deemed usable and accurate.
  12. Looks good mate.. Can't believe how nice mine looks as a 12yr old car. There isn't many modern cars I'd swap for, that's for sure.
  13. Just a quick post guys... I cleaned the Lexus at the weekend before going to my mates to watch the game... Parked the car on his drive and decided to take a picture through the window. I have to say, i really love the car at this angle... it looks superb (in my humble opinion) sitting on the drive. I cleaned it with Waterless Cleaning stuff from Halfords, it does a really good job as well... wax on, wax off -) What do you think?
  14. Ha ha... me too. He's a friend of a friend. I think i may just get the doors re-sprayed... pains me to spend money on something that some idiot took 10 seconds to destroy with a key.
  15. Thanks guys.. The reason i ask is a friend of a friend does this as his job, he said he would do the whole car as a 4 stage process for £50 as a mate. He said the scratches would look a lot better but cannot guarantee the faded white would come up like new so im wondering if its worth it or to get the parts re done but then thats going to be £300 or so. Does a 4 stage process sound about right as ive never had it done before... he said it would take around 3-4 hours.
