  1. The AA after over an hour sitting on the hard shoulder sent a local garage to move me off the motorway, he did..... to the services... A further 2 hours of being told I would be getting an AA mechanic to investigate the problem and he would decide if I would need a recover, then another local garage turned up (Sent by the AA) at 8:40pm and he said “No I’m not a mechanic mate I’m just here to recover it, Lexus Bolton is shut now and no place to leave your car there. We will have to store the car for you £24 and arrange to redeliver it for £150”. As you can imagine another heated call to the AA who said “We will have to tow it tomorrow if you’re not prepaid to pay the fee” Witch I was not, why am I paying the AA £300 a year? So I had to get my wife and my 14 week old child to drive 50 mins to collect me from the services and drive the 50 mins home, and then take me back in the morning to meet the AA, who had arranged to meet me at 11am and called at 9:50am to say “I’m here where are you? I’m going to have to leave if you’re not here (50 mins drive)” So apart from not renewing my AA membership I still am none the wiser as to why a failed battery would cause the problems I had?
  2. Hi guys thanks for the reply's, after calling the AA at 5:30pm from the hard shoulder of the M61, at 8:45pm I finally had to leave the car on the M61 services over night..... At 11 am the next day I actually got an AA man to take the car to Lexus Bolton...... How annoying and rubbish are the AA? Lexus Bolton changed the battery and couldn’t find a fault with the car, they don’t have any idea why the car did what it did, so I have it home and did about an hour’s drive in it, so far all is ok. So to recap, hit by a UFO front left leaving a mark from the bottom of the bumper diagonal to the headlight about 30 i'sh centimetres. Drove a further 60 miles and all of a sudden loud alarm in the car followed by every single electrical item in the car flashing on and off, stereo to needles on the Speedo/revs all alarm lights you name it. Also the Power steering failed, brakes and ESP. Battery changed so far all seems ok, no faults showing on the car according to Lexus Bolton, alternator was checked as well and is fine. Never had a battery fail while driving and should I lose control of everything like I did?
  3. Ohh dear Some unknown object got flicked up by a truck and smacked the front left hand side of my Lexus GS430, it has caused the car to stop working! The item struck my centre left and felt like it also went under the car and bounced HARD the thud was huge. There is a mark from the strike but not broken panels. I drove a further 60 miles before an alarm sounded, and every single item that could flash did, even the centre stereo, needles on the Speedo all warning lights. I pulled onto the hard shoulder of the motorway and the brakes were not assisted, neither was the power starring available and the stability manager was gone as I braked the car wobbled all over the place. Finally got it to my Lexus dealers (Bolton) and they can’t look at it for 2 days and have no hire car, I travel 80 miles to work so really need my car, anyone have any ideas where to start? Or what might be the issue? Tough call I know but I’m starting to think this might be a big bill?
  4. So I had a major service at Lexus Bolton, and I thought what great people, cannot fault them for customer service and the speed of their work. Unfortunately there is a large but… Firstly I topped the washer fluid up the morning before I set off to Lexus Bolton so was quite surprised to find a £4 charge on my bill for Washer Fluid top up! Secondly they told me both my rear brake callipers were totally sized and needed to be replaced, quite a common claim on these forums so I though “ok one of those things” Fortunately my brother in Law (Works for Honda) sourced me a new pair of Callipers for far less than the price of 1 calliper from Lexus, bargain I thought! So I dropped my car off to my local garage who I have used for my previous cars for years, (I went for a service at Lexus to maintain the full history) and I went back on Saturday morning to collect it from my local garage. I asked what the bill was and the mechanic replied “£20” Me “£20?” Local garage “Yer your callipers slide pins were seized, the caps have been left off and they filled with water and rusted, we freed them off and put plenty of Greece in there and put the rubber boot on properly no need for the whole calliper to be replaced” So basically due to incompetence from the London Lexus garage who maintained a full service history with no expense spared on extras London Lexus caused the callipers sliders to seize. And Lexus Bolton rather than charge me £20 to free them off and sort the job wanted £700 to replace a part that doesn’t need replacing. Needless to say I won’t be returning to Lexus for any kind of service or repairs. And the car has had 4 alloys in the last 3 years under warranty due to de lacquer and 2 since the warranty expired paid for, guess what I saw this weekend while washing? Yup De lacquered front left alloy… Alloy number 7 that’s more than 1 a year average! Love the car shame about the Lexus garages, I thought these guys were supposed to be some of the best in the business?
  5. Great find thanks, I just noticed this morning a patch of leather where my elbow sits has changed color.
  6. Update; Getting some from Europarts works out £197 for the PAIR, fitting will cost me almost nothing result.
  7. Turns out I need 2 new rear brake callipers both seized..... I can get some none Lexus ones for £240 each delivered, any advice on cheaper and or other options? Think by the time I pay for a piston and seal kit + labour your looking at the same price as a replacement calliper? Cheers in advance. P.S. Where did the dealer survey section go? I wanted to say what a good service I had a Bolton Lexus this weekend.
  8. Lol weirdness? Nope just hit reply with Quote and type away. Have you been on those dodgy lady sites on the internet again? :-)
  9. I ended up with a set of Goodyear F1 Asymetric 2, they replace some Dunlop SportmaXX (Very bad wear rate) Will give some feedback in a week or two. Paid £140 per tyre and they have great reviews all over. Interesting I asked Goodyear for operating temps as Im reading up about winter tyres etc etc as the temps here will soon sit around 0-5 deg C for 5 months. Makes an interesting read. http://www.btmauk.co...31_May_2011.pdf Since having the Asymetric 2, loving them really great tyre so far. Quote MultiQuote Edit
  10. Hi all I own a GS430 Gen 3 As the topic says, I am looking to replace certain bulbs with LED's, but browsing site's makes it clear as mud when choosing the right kit. This thread is not to debate if you like the idea or not. This thread is for people who would like to share what bulbs they replaced? What they replaced them with? And the results? Thanks in advance. For myself I have Xenon but they seem dull compared to the new Audi and BMW's with LED's? The side lights are ones I want to swap for sure. Rear Lights anyone, particular the Reversing lights?

  12. I was browsing for porn and some how ended up on this site and then bought a GS430 Ok It was Google search really...
  13. Things are going well with the GS loving it a whole heap, I do have 2 questions though. Crusing on the motorway I can feel/hear a best described as slow methodical Pulse through the whole car when crusing, mechanical in feel and fairly slight, is this normal? Tyre I'm going to need a new rear set as there below 3mm and the drop off in wet weather performance below 3mm is well known and I do massive motorway miles and its that time of year there is terrible rain all the time. I am looking at these:- Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, £155 each with great reviews. Anyone tried them? How is the road noise?
  14. Ended up with a GS430 with full Lexus service history, loving it seems in good nick after a very long busy run back from London to 'Up North' 300+ miles including 1 hour 30 mins for stop start after a fatal on the M1 and 80 mph cruis control the rest of the run got 29 mpg, quite supprised how good that is to be honest. The tank rage esimate in the Nav seems very short 270 miles yet I did 300 and had plenty left in the tank.
  15. Hi all Looking for some advice, have been looking for 06 GS300’s as they are now in my price range. I had been steering away from the 430 for MPG reasons, but I have seen a nice looking 430 with 70k miles on the clock and a fair price. I travel 100 miles round trip to work 92 of those are on Motorways. My questions are: Real world MPG on the GS430 now it’s 6 years old? Real world reliability and repair cost? ( I heard things like £1200 for a radiator replaced….) If maintained should I expect 200k of trouble free miles this being a Lexus? Should I hold out for a good GS300 or take this nice looking GS430? I have read the forums loads but I’s clear as mud to get an idea about the reliability since the model change in 2005 onwards. I will be honest I won’t use Lexus for service as my brother in law works for a very large Honda dealer where I get £22 per hour labour rates and cost price parts even on none Honda parts. Thanks in advance
