  1. More than likely that is the cause. Unfortunately it's now at main dealer for service and MoT which expires today. Main dealers tend not creative so it'll be new this, and new that, and that will be a gazillion squids, thank you sir. If their projected cost is too high I'll have to scrap it. Painful as it really is a good car. 😞
  2. Oh well, looks like my trusty old stead is in trouble. Neither combinations of bridging pins works. Bridging pins 4 & 13 always worked before, not today. Seems to be giving nox & rich readings, so we'll have to see but it sounds expensive. Crazy really as the car actually runs well.
  3. What makes you say that, my diagram shows pin 4 in the top row and pin 13 in the bottom row. Each row has 8 pins. It's a 2000 GS430 and I have used this diagram on several occasions over the last eight years and it has always worked.
  4. Thanks. I managed to find the diagram I was looking for. For anyone interested, all that's required is to short pins 4 & 13. Thanks again.
  5. Just had a call from MoT (Toyota Dealer) to say my venerable steed has failed MoT. EML light is on!!!! Usually I always check this before MoT and fix it with a paper clip in the OBD port. BUT, I can't find the diagram telling me which pins. Anybody got it handy, I'm sure it's on here somewhere but I can't find it. Thanks
  6. Bigger numbers. more power. The one I posted deals with the V8 4.3 no bother so it'll do a 3.0 with ease. Make sure you follow the charging instructions. From memory I think it's every 3 months. Could be wrong.
  7. Yup, this one: SUAOKI U10 Car Jump Starter 800A 20000mAh Battery Booster Pack with Intelligent Jumper Leads and Force Start Function for 12V Auto 6L Petrol 5L Diesel Motorcycle Van SUV Tractor Truck Works on a 4.3 GS. I know this because we used it this morning. It's about sixty squids on Amazon.
  8. Although it might be a wee bit different given the closeness of the Toyota-Lexus relationship.
  9. It might be best to check with Lexus, but I shouldn't have thought that it would affect either warranty or resale value. I have my venerable GS430 serviced by Toyota (Lexus are too far away) but then it's worth zip and ain't got no warranty. Cracking car though 🙂
  10. May I ask what you paid? I ask as I was going to have my wheels refurbed (always losing air) but discovered that the price was just about the same as set of new BBS. Around 500 squids iirc.
  11. How far does it need to go? I recently had a car lifted and delivered 10 miles away fo £60.00
  12. Take a trip to Leeds where https://www.tonybanks.co.uk/ will do you a whole new system for a lot less than that. I'm sure there are other places, but he's the only one I've used. He used to be a POWERFLOW franchisee I believe. There'll be a PF place in Hampshire somewhere which someone might be able to recommend. My understanding is that they are only as good as the franchise holder. HTH
  13. I know this is an old thread, but I thought some might be interested in that I recently bought a set of BBS wheels for my elderly GS4340 for roughly the same cost as a good refurb. I had to do something as three of four wheels were loosing pressure despite being cleaned periodically. Still they've lasted about nineteen years so can't complain....
  14. I don't suppose anyone knows an indie in or around Peterborough. I'm using the Toyota main dealer with all that entails.
  15. It's a brave man who will bandy words with Alan Partridge. His sharp, devastating and generally acerbic insights have reduced many to tears. Whether tears of joy or pain, I'm not sure....... :-)
  16. You either missed the smiley, or you have missed the fact that Alan Partridge is infallible. I know this because he told me so....
  17. Yes, 129's, from the time MB made proper cars! Over my (many) MB years, I never had much difficulty finding indies. Lexus indies are (at least in my area) rarer than hen's teeth. Probably 'cause they don't need much fixing!
  18. It looks as though we have enough folks to start the "We used to be Merc Boys 'till we discovered Lexus". Club :-) Just a point about cam belt changes. Always best to do the water pump at the same time.
  19. Hello there. I too was an MB fan. First bought a new 190E 2.00 back in '93. Have had too many since to list (although I think the SL60 was my favourite). I don't know specifics regarding Lexus paint, but their general build quality is pretty spot on. Similar to that of MB before they decide to manufacture money instead of cars. I've got/had three Lexi (!) and have had no rust issues. Current is an eighteen year old 420 GS which is rust free and goes very well indeed. I'd love an LS but they're too big for MrsIA2 and she's the main driver these days.
  20. I had a full system SS replacement done a few years ago by Tony Banks: https://www.tonybanks.co.uk/ for a fair bit les than a grand. About 800.00 squidaroonies iirc. Life time transferable guarantee to boot. He has a very good rep. I found out about via the MB Club. hth.
  21. As a matter of interest, what sort of fault might there be if the light is on, but the car is running perfectly?
