Dpf Removal Or Regeneration? Advice And Opinions Needed
webby031 replied to webby031's topic in Engine & Transmission
I've check other forums and spoke with some mechanics - everywhere same answer - only DPF emulator....so if someone is offering remap for is220d the best way would to avoid that 'companies' even for break pads replacement... another interesting thing is that I've read some stories about unwanted side effect after modification - like for instance white smoke from exhaust ???- 25 replies

Dpf Removal Or Regeneration? Advice And Opinions Needed
webby031 replied to webby031's topic in Engine & Transmission
I've tried to contact Peter from P&P Autos but he is on holiday and be will be back after New Years... Meanwhile I've done little Internet research for DPF removing companies in Somerset and surronding area and I came across two completely different statements referring ECU reprogramming in Lexus IS220d ?! According to some 'experts' in the business ECU is fully reprogrammable or : ECU is currently impossible to remap - no software / hardware available on market - instead use DPF emulator So what is the real answer?? Do I have to use DPF emulator? list of the companies that I've checked in my area offering DPF removal services : Reidy Remaps http://reidyremaps.co.uk/ Buckland Road Yeovil Somerset BA21 5HA 07709 453760 They not covering Lexus :( P&P Auto Services http://pandpauto.co.uk/ Unit 9a Courtlands Farm Industrial Estate Taunton Somerset TA2 6NS tel.01823 325 039 service available with DPF emulator : price - £550 Vallis Auto center http://www.vallisautocentre-frome.co.uk/ Unit H Vallis Trading Estate Robins Lane Frome Somerset BA11 3DT tel. 01373 473 349 Software supplied by Evolution Chips not available yet...(I believe that is quite big map supplier in the country) :( Motor Mods http://www.motormods.co.uk/ Gotherington Cross Garage Evesham Road Cheltenham Gloucestershire GL52 8SA service available with DPF emulator: price - £720 (maybe is not is not too far...but the price...) Somerset auto tints http://somersetautotints.co.uk/ Unit 3B alexandra Court Alexandra Road Yeovil Somerset BA21 5AL 07967 931339 service available with ECU remap: price - £520 Avon Tuning http://www.avontuning.co.uk Unit 6 Tockington Poultry Centre Hardy Lane Tockington Bristol BS32 4LQ 01454 800 117 service available with DPF emulator : price - £550 Autocare Services (Exeter) Ltd http://www.autocareservices.co.uk Unit 3 8 Christow Road Marsh Barton Exeter EX2 8QP 01392 203156 They not covering Lexus :( Anyone from the forum members had any experience with listed companies?- 25 replies

Dpf Removal Or Regeneration? Advice And Opinions Needed
webby031 replied to webby031's topic in Engine & Transmission
thanks Shigo for answer, List of the mods you've implemented is impressive, I'm sure that driving your lexus is a pure pleasure ;) Currently I'm considering complete removal (answer from the Dorset dealer = over £2300 ! for new one!) but before that I was looking into the regen first. Have you tried to regenerate DPF filter? or that is just waste of time? Thanks as well for directing to yours thread about the is220d mods ... I found some more recommendations for p&p autos on this forum, seems to be a good choice...- 25 replies

Dpf Removal Or Regeneration? Advice And Opinions Needed

Thanks Dennis for your advice, I must say that sounds very optimistic..., if that would solve the problem, ok on MOT and more power! YES YES YES :) ...but my nature is a bit more sceptic and I would like to get some more info about regen first, If that would fail ... then defenetly I'm not going to buy new DPF filter!- 25 replies

Dpf Removal Or Regeneration? Advice And Opinions Needed

Hi I got answer from local Lexus dealer regarding new DPF filter fitting: It was fairly new vehicle, I know that it wasn't cheap but I'm quite sure you wouldn't expect that Lexus engineers would make such a f**k-up designing exhaust system for those great cars... Are they having a laugh?! I don't think I have to explain why I'm looking for an alternative route ...- 25 replies

Hi Forum Members, I'm afraid my little baby is220d is suffering from constant problems - I think related to the dpf filter . I've read on this forum a couple of threads and it looks like my case is typical (well I hope is not a common fault because I always had solid opinion about lexus engineers...) a complete removal sounds like a major operation and not quite sure about that... why would you remove something that was design/fitted by a specialists for a good reason...? Currently I'm waiting to hear a quote from the local lexus dealer for the new filter fitting but I don't expect a realistic figure ... Should I go for the full regeneration process or remove DPF completely from the exhaust system? Any advice or guidance are welcome.

If you driving around the UK I don't thinks winter tyres are necessary, people intent to panic when temperature occasionally dropping down and start shopping for winter tyres but bear in mind that will wear out a lot quicker during rest of the seasons because are made from different grader materials -
I had recently some problems with famous EGR valve... ;( While reading the forum I found a couple of threads ref the EGR and I decided to check what is under my bonnet (very similar symptoms)... and what I expected 'the layer of carbon dust' looked like coal mine !!!EGR completely black and block by that filth. I don't suspect previous owner looked up to clean the valve before... Can any of the forum members give me some advice how to prevent that..if that is possible... Many thanks
