  1. Hello everyone, I was wondering does anyone have an IS220d 2008 reg Lexus? If so, does the manual specify anywhere anything to do with the DPF; how it regenerates automatically and at what conditions etc this would occur? If anyone could give me the page numbers I would be eternally grateful! Regards, Alex
  2. Hello everyone, Does anyone know if there is a way to check and calculate the current DPF soot level % on a Lexus IS220d? I'm trying to ascertain whether a forced regeneration will cure my vehicle from limp mode or whether I have to fork out £2,000 to Lexus to have all the parts replaced. I understand that anything at 95% or above will remain the parts need replacing but I'd like to see what level it's at to see if a regeneration would be successful. Thanks! Alex
  3. Hello everyone, As per everyone else who seems to own an IS220d, I have the common P2002 error with the "Check VSC" warning light etc. Last Sunday I was able to get the vehicle to Lexus Hatfield, ready for a Monday diagnosis. So Friday (yesterday) comes about without hearing anything, I call them to see what's going on. I have the P2002 error code and the catalytic converter needs completely replacing. This sounds a lot like those other stories throughout this forum where from what i read, most people have managed to get this fixed by Lexus at no charge to themselves regardless of whether the car is still in warranty. My request, so to those people who were out of warranty when this issued occurred and managed to get Lexus to cover the repair costs; please can you let me know how. After my lengthy discussions with Lexus Hatfield, I got the distinct impression they wouldn't assist to much in getting the go ahead from Lexus Head Office. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Alex
  4. Hi Guys, Thanks for your responses. I now do mostly short journeys and most of it in slow moving traffic (there's a 3-4 mile stretch on the motorway that I do which gets my into 6th briefly). I've looked at the EGR cleaning threads. Not sure I have the technical confidence to carry that out... would something like wynn's formula gold diesel treatment help?
  5. Hello, I see in a few posts that there is mention of a 5 year engine warranty. I've looked on he Internet and I can't find any official lexus website confirming this. Does anyone happen to have a link? Also is this a manufacturer warranty or a pre-approved Lexus warranty (that you'd get if you bought from a Lexus garage). I ask as I bought my Lexus from a Honda garage chain. As per one of the posts above I fear my car might be giving signs of this fault. Car is all of a sudden very sluggish. Obviously there could be other reasons for this, but there's nothing like a potential £5k repair bill to start the panic setting in! I've not had any warning lights or anything come on yet so I guess there's nothing wrong until a light comes on? Thanks everyone! Alex
  6. Hello everyone, 58 Reg, 65k mileage. I seem to have recently developed sluggish acceleration in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears. My foot is flat on the floor in some instances and the car just not respond for at lest 5-7 seconds and then it accelerates as you would expect. This was on level roads (not up hill) and was mainly occurring in 2nd and 3rd gears. For example I was in 2nd gear, foot flat on the floor and the car did not accelerate, not even one mile an hour - for a 5-7 second period where it then finally sped up. Any ideas what could be causing this? Would a low engine temperature possible cause this? My temperature gauge has never ever reached midway (50%) point. It's always been around the 40-5%. Any info would be great! Thanks for your help! Alex
  7. Hi Guys, Thanks for your feedback. Yes it would need to be a reasonably watertight seal but has been lose for a few months without any water damage and the Lexus chappy didn't advise it was an issue in this regard. It seems it was a dodgy previous windscreen replacement.
  8. Hello everyone, Can anyone recommend or suggest a suitable glue/adhesive product that glues rubber to glass? I am trying to glue the exterior rubber/plastic side of the windscreen to the glass windscreen itself. It's become loose. I assume it would be a similar product that the autoglass folk use? Many thanks! Alex
  9. Hello All, Thanks for all your responses so far! I do get my car washed via a pressure washer at the local car wash but had been using it for years with my prior vehicle (Mazda) without any problems. I can appreciate that if a condition exists then certainly a presuure washer may make things worse...
  10. Hello All, Merry Christmas!! I was wondering if I could take your opinion on a paint peeling issue occurring on the front bumper of my IS220d (58 reg). I've been back to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (second hand in January 2012) and they say it's stone chip damage. I'm dubious as there are numerous large (certainly bigger than stone chip size) flaky/peeling paint (not chips). It happens on both sides of the bumper too which seems a bit coincidental! The first 3 photos attached are of this peeling paint issue - has anyone else had the same problem? Is this really stone chip damage? Also on the roof of the car is a circular paint problem - i'm not sure how to describe this. Looks like it's ever slightly "bubbly". This is the 4th and 5th picture. Has anyone had this occur in the past/know what the cause might be? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks! Alex
  11. Hello All, A Merry Christmas to you! I was wondering if you could assist witha couple of issues I have on my IS220d. Firstly, I'm missing a windscreen clip - an item that connects the mesh of the side of the windscreen to the body (or windscreen I guess). Secondly, the plastic clip that surrounds the spring on the boot catch has come completely off and the spring is exposed/falling apart. Does any body know where I can purchase such items? And what these names might actually be called (I can only think of "clips"). I assume these are simple install, that even I could do without visiting a Lexus garage? Or would Lexus likely supply and fix at minimal charge? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Alex
