  1. Well guys I have finally given up my ct 200h and traded it in for a 'Mercedes Eclass cdi' and have to admit I'm not disappointed. I know it's a totally different car by comparison but obviously the smaller car was not for me. I've had my gripes on this forum and have received loads of good an positive advise from other members to help with some of the problems I encountered. I will keep checking the forum from time to time as a matter of interest and thanks to you all and wish you a merry Christmas. Michael
  2. Oops sorry Dan did I touch a nerve. I was only replying to the original post re the question asked by Si_is200 and gave my twopence worth. Apparently I didn't do my home work very stupid of me.
  3. Come on guys give me break., after all I didn't buy a 'TRABANT' I bought a "LEXUS"
  4. Well mine didn't have cruise control (had to be retro fitted), no electric folding mirrors, no tow-bar available in UK (got one in USA), no spare wheel (located one an now fitted), uncomfortable ride (hard suspension?), not impressed with the mpg, bad all-round visual, awkward to get out of driving seat (for the missus), expensive to update satnav (not alone to Lexus). Apart from that lot, it's a lovely looking car and has a great interior.
  5. Well I better not slag the ct200h off too much as the price will go down when I get rid, however I wouldn't buy another one.
  6. Done that thanks guys for the lead.
  7. I have heard that certain Lexus motors have been recalled due to an airbag problem. Does anyone know if the CT200h is involved ??
  8. Thanks for the info Mark it really looks the business. I don''t suppose you know of any way to get the in-car nav system updated without going to the garage ? Cheers Mick.
  9. Totally agree with the over priced extra to have this item fitted. A 'Lexus' should have this as standard. Money grabbing cheapskate bas...ds. Mine didn't even have cruise control fitted as standard, although the wires were in place to have it retro fitted.
  10. Hi Guys There's been loads of info on this and I've tried to get the best mpg without getting too anal about it, so I've now continued to drive as I would drive a "normal" (not hybrid) motor and I don't believe the hybrid saves any more juice than any other car driven with consideration. Check out fuelly.com and look at the ct200h results (some are American so take that into account)
  11. Phew I feel more at ease now Geof......I think.
  12. No problem Anthony. As explained I only tow maximum for one mile each way with the (5 metre open) boat on the back admittedly it's quite flat both ways. Theres no strain on the motor can't see what all the fuss is about. If it was a 12 metre motor cruiser I could understand. Got my tow bar form USA, surely if there was any problems with fitting one of these that manufacturer would have been penalised for making and fitting.
  13. I totally agree with both your comments: A load of crap. And if you want the maps updating it costs a fortune. You should be able to buy the updating package for a one off payment, not pay every time it needs updating.
  14. Well guys Just an update on the tow bar saga. I have taken the plunge, located and ordered, received and fitted a tow bar. Purchased from USA: AutoAnything. Model: Curt receiver hitch with euro 2" ball mount pin and clip. Part #112002 Cost $124.99 Only problem they don't ship out of the USA so I got my mate to get it shipped for me at a cost of £90.00. It took 20 minutes to fit the four bolts in the locating holes already drilled by the manufactures of Lexus. (Can't understand why they don't supply one as the holes are there to take a tow bar) As previously mentioned my needs are for transporting a small boat to the beach twice a year for about a mile.
