  1. Why will you swap the hub carriers if the flanges have zero run out?
  2. Can someone post a link so i know 100% i am ordering the right thing. They are just the next avenue i am going down to try and cure my long standing brake/front end judder problem Thanks
  3. Well things are looking up, she flew through the MOT today!! Still loads of judder although not enough for my friendly MOT tester to fail her. Next stop lower front suspension arm bushes!! i have new discs ready to fit but i didn't want to fit them until after my mechanic had checked my calipers, which are fine.
  4. Sorry to butt in. Tony- Can you empty your inbox so i can message you please, I assume thats why my message wont send? Ta
  5. Not much else i can change on the front. I can only assume that one of the new recon calipers is a dud, doesn't seem to be binding but it might be just a little?? Who knows!!!!
  6. Replacing the hub assembly is not a 100% bullet proof fix as proven by my own experience.
  7. Well i can confirm the having now replaced the NSF upper suspension wishbone there has been no improvement whatsoever. However i can now tick off one more thing thats its and the annoying graunching noise has gone away. I reckon one of my 2 recon replacement calipers must be a bit crap and is dragging on the disc resulting in a warped disc, i cant imagine what else it can be. Are the WIM suspension settings available anywhere online, i can't justify a 400 mile round trip to get the geometry set up!!!
  8. Just had a new pair of rear tyres fitted as its MOT time in 2 weeks and i had had my monies worth out of them!! I got the front wheels rebalanced and put on the back and the new tyres put on the front and if anything its worse lol
  9. I think if you have the skills you can somehow get the balljoint out of the arm, they are certainly available on ebay. Personally i will be fitting a good used complete arm from a reliable source. If this doesn't work i am out of ideas!!
  10. Popped into the garage who does my work for me on the car. Gave the suspension a once over using a long bar as a lever to locate any play in any of the bushes. Only play anywhere is NSF top wishbone balljoint, but according to my mechanic/mot tester it is only enough for an advisory on the mot. So i'm going to change that. After that f*ck knows!!!! MY NAME IS MIKE AND I (CURRENTLY) HATE MY LEXUS!!!!! lol
  11. 800 miles since i had my complete hub assemblies fitted along with more new discs and just prior to that a pair of new calipers and the dreaded judder is back!!! Oddly it is not as bad if i am braking and have knocked her into neutral. I shall be trying lower suspension control bushes or complete arms if i can get them cheap( i know a dude in the trade). Failling that anybody want to buy a lexus!!!!! lol
  12. Used hubs and new discs fitted. 300 miles driven and touch wood all is well :D
  13. They are complete hub assemblies so no need for bearing swaps. Guarenteed 'Good' from a trusted source and the pair were £30 less than 1 new flange and bearing so i made the decision that it was worth a punt. I'm going to fit the pair of hubs and a pair of my used discs that have be skimmed on my lathe at work to a tolerence of 0.025mm. As i say here's hoping
  14. I'm chancing it with a pair of used hubs. Here's hoping : )
  15. My mechanic is really good and that was his opinion. I also phoned my mate in Southampton who has been a main dealer mechanic for 25 years and also spanners on a 520bhp escort cosworth at the weekend for another friend, he said that although he hadn't seen the car from the description i gave him in his opinion it could only be the hub that is at fault : (
  16. In the ongoing saga of my front brake judder we have come to the conclusion that the NSF hub must be distorted. The garage(very dependable) have fitted new calipers and sliders, new pads and are now fitting the 7th disc(2 osf and 5 nsf). To recap, brakes are fine for about 250-300 miles after the nsf disc is changed then the judder reappears. Is there anything else it could be before i bite the bullet and order a hub??? Ta
  17. Are the lower rear arms available from anywhere other than maindealer? Just thought i would ask before i make the call to Lexus : ( I have found some JDM ones on ebay in canada which i might go for if new ones are silly money. Ta.
  18. All those things are great, but if the calipers are shot will make no difference at all. I'll get it done and report back when i've finished
  19. 4 pots are tempting because they don't have sliders so there is only the limeted chance of a piston seizing to contend with which is far less likely. I'm sure there are other/better calipers that will bolt straight on with minor fettling its just a question of finding out which ones. Without actually having one in my hands to offer up its impossible to say, but older(classic shape) imprezza calipers are a very similar size and shape to standard IS200 ones but thay are 4 pots/pistons. I hopefully will be able to offer one u soon to see how they look
  20. Also, what models other than the TT Supra are the 4 pot on? Soarer rings a bell? any others?
  21. Admittedly the front brakes are pretty good in standard trim, but the sliders on one of my calipers are completely shot. I'm told by my mechanic that its a better plan to replace the pair rather that just to do one? So looking at ballpark figures; 2 x recon calipers = £240 or 2 x used TT supra 4 pots = about the same Surely if its a fairly straight forward upgrade its better to go that way than just replace the standard stuff? Also, i'd be lying if i said i like keeping things standard ; )
  22. I want to upgrade the front brakes of my is200 to 4 pot calipers and bigger discs, or retain standard discs. I've read bits and pieces about twin turbo Supra conversions so that would seem to be the best option. Are the Supra calipers fitted to any other models? Basically, what is the most cost effective way of doing it? Talk to me people!!!! ;)
  23. In the longterm i will be fitting 215/45/18's. They are only 21mm bigger in diametre and the same width as standard. My tape measure says there will be plenty of room, until i lower it!!
  24. 45 profile tyres will give about 20mm less 'tyre to arch' gap which will help. I'd like -40mm springs for the back but they are very overpriced considering the average price for a pair of springs. I am looking at modifying the standard rear shocks by -40mm by cutting and welding the top collars, should be relatively straight forward :D
